Illustrations Composed for Graphic Novel
After contacting 8 individual illustrators & digital-illustration companies, I selected Thecodagraph for my graphic novel based on receiving a high-quality example of their illustrating talent & the least-expensive bid for the project. On March 11th I signed a 3-month contract; the project under Anna Gray, who kept in touch with me almost daily, & her team of illustrators was completed by May 30th, in less time than expected. I provided almost 240 images for a graphic novel of 17 chapters, all of which I had generated by way of Dall-E Pro. However, the majority of the images had inconsistencies in need of correction, such as attire, hair styles, wearing glasses (one did, the other not), &c, for my principal characters. Of the 240 images, nearly one third required no revision. I did not need any panel created from scratch. While the illustrating team under Anna was initially slow at the outset -- only one chapter completed in each of the first 3 weeks -- by the second month progress advanced & with alacrity in the final few weeks. I sent my original images per chapter with instructions for revising the panels in need of attention. I received back images from individual chapters, reviewed them, & sent back new instructions for the panels that required further correction. At most I had to ask for a second correction after getting back the first. (The team at times struggled with spelling & accuracy for English text bubbles, which I employed sparingly.) Overall I am very satisfied with the outcome in terms of quality of the images, time on task, & the fee.
