I have mixed reviews on this when I did finally manage to find a telephone number to ring to cancel my subscription Anna was very helpful and talked me through various options. However the fact you can't suspend delivery for a time of your choice easily on the website was a pain and having to ring to cancel was a nuisance so on one hand she was polite and helpful but I would have preferred the option to suspend indefinitely until I needed more- in the end it was easier to just cancel altogether due to this!

Title: Avoid - Subscription Trap and "Ghost" Orders

I joined for a simple taster box, and within minutes, they automatically enrolled me in a recurring £47 subscription without clear disclosure. When I tried to resolve this, the customer service was a loop of automated stalling.
I placed an order on Wednesday 2nd June , and one full week later, it still hasn't even been handed to the courier, despite their support agents claiming it was 'moving through the system.' It’s a total failure of service. If you want to avoid a massive headache, don't touch this Curious Drinker brand.. it’s just a rebranded mess. I’ve had to go to my bank to force a chargeback just to get my postage money back. Save your money and buy your own bottles at the shop.
Fly by nights .. grr

Hi Scott, Curious Drinker is, and always has been, a membership-based discovery club. This is made clear multiple times throughout the sign-up process, including on our website before purchase, during checkout, and in the welcome emails sent immediately after joining.

We are proud of our membership model, as it allows our members to embark on a curated discovery journey and enjoy access to carefully selected drinks each month.

We do not hide, disguise, or automatically add memberships without disclosure. In fact, new members receive a series of communications explaining exactly how their membership works, how deliveries are scheduled, and how to manage their account.

We can also see that you contacted our Membership Team regarding your concerns and that Ella was able to promptly resolve the matter for you. We're pleased that a resolution was reached and appreciate her efforts in assisting you.

While we understand that subscription services are not for everyone, we have a shop that is available for one off purchases. We take transparency seriously and are always happy to help customers who have questions about their membership or orders.

Efficient cancellation but issues leading to cancellation remain

Desmond was really efficient at helping me cancel my membership.

It was frustrating that I had to phone up to cancel my membership rather than being able to do it online but then that’s part of my reason for cancelling. I just disagree with some of the ways the business operates.

He tried to persuade me to stay with a discount off my next box but the facts of why I’m cancelling remain - which I clearly explained.

The price of the boxes has gone up and no longer feel like value for money. I’m also too worried that the company’s financial problems might leave me having paid for a box which can’t be fulfilled if the company doesn’t survive. And I disagree with the terms of the recent CVA which has left previous investors in the business getting a much worse benefit for their investment than they previously had. This means this isn’t a company where I want to spend my money.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Billed after account closed. Money taken from account without permission. Complained and timeframes not upheld. You're the one left chasing their error. Can only cancel by phone but cant get through when you call, stay on hold for ages. AVOID!!!

Cancellation is a nightmare, why its such a shame to spoil a good club.

It was extremely difficult to cancel my Curious Drinker membership, and the whole process felt designed to put people off. The option to cancel was buried deep within the website, hidden under several layers of menus and pages, rather than being clearly accessible in the account settings. After finally finding that section, I was then told I could not cancel online and had to phone up instead. The call itself took around ten minutes, going through options and waiting to speak to someone, just to complete a simple cancellation. It is hard to understand why a straightforward request like ending a membership has been made so time‑consuming and awkward.

Hi Mark, We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the club, although we're sorry that the cancellation process did not meet your expectations.

To cancel a membership, members simply need to give us a call. While we understand that some people would prefer an online cancellation option, we choose to handle cancellations over the phone because it gives us the opportunity to answer any final questions, ensure everything is processed correctly, and gather valuable feedback that helps us improve our service.

Our cancellation calls are typically completed very quickly, with the average call taking around two minutes, including any wait time. The goal on our side is to make things easy so once your in the Members' Area all you need to do is head to Account Details > Want to take a break and your at the Cancellation process.
