The website looks professional and they claim to be experts in Golden Visa, but the reality is completely different. They charged a high upfront fee but the service was minimal. Every small step came with extra charges that were never clearly explained at the beginning. My lawyer changed twice without notice, and the advice was generic – I could have found it online for free. Responses take forever, and they never follow up as promised. Very disappointed with The Golden Portugal. Save your money and look for a more reliable firm.

When my family and I decided to look for a “plan B” option, we looked at a number of different national programs offering a path to citizenship through investment. We ultimately decided on Portugal’s Golden Visa program due to its short path to citizenship, flexible investment options, limited time on the ground required, easy travel from the US, access to the EU, and quality of life if we choose to move. However, we quickly realized that we would need assistance to navigate the various steps involved in obtaining our residency cards. We talked to a number of different consultants (and their references) and decided to engage Susana Yang and her company, The Golden Portugal. We liked that The Golden Portugal was a small company where we would get personal attention. We liked that they were based in Lisbon, were exclusively focused on Portugal, were investment-agnostic (and would make introductions to investment advisers of our choice, if we wanted), and had all of the resources in-house to manage the entire application process from getting our NIFs through accompanying us to the biometric appointment.
Having now made it through the biometric appointment, our expectations were met and exceeded and we couldn’t be happier with our experience with The Golden Portugal. We have a dedicated account manager who, with the company’s in-house legal team, assisted us in obtaining our NIFs, opening a local bank account, making the required investment, obtaining all required certificates, filing our visa application, and chaperoning the biometric appointment. They have gone out of their way to help us navigate all of the small challenges that we faced. When we discovered that our Portuguese bank had limits on online transfers, their in-house lawyer went to the bank in person, on our behalf, to effect the transfer needed for the required investment. The team all speak perfect English, which has been tremendously helpful. They have kept us informed of the progress of our application and have also kept us apprised of the various legislative changes affecting Portuguese immigration as they worked their way through the Assembly. We have found the team to be responsive, professional and knowledgeable. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to work with The Golden Portugal.

They will also move as fast as you’re willing to move . . . we went from our first meeting to submitting our application within seven weeks.
