I have been doing the turtle programme now for 3 weeks, Chathu the coordinator was soo lovely and approachable. She lead us through the course well. I would definitely recommend this experience.

Spending 3 weeks in the dog programme…
Spending 3 weeks in the dog programme of TMR in Sri Lanka was incredibly eye-opening, interesting and fun! I would recommend the programme to anyone who loves dogs and some of the connections I have built with the dogs I will never forget. The organisation of the programme is amazing and all the dogs seem so happy! (including the ones who we feed in the streets) Plus there is lots of free time every day to explore the area! My group leader Kavi was extremely kind and welcoming to all of us and overall this was an unforgettable and life-changing experience for me and I am sure many others!

Sri Lanka dog programme
Kavi from the dog programme is lovely as are all the staff in Sri Lanka but a special mention to her as I've never met someone so welcoming and kind!!
However, I found the weekend trip (cultural loop) quite disorganised, the person who took us wasn't even in the groupchat so we were communicating through a third person back at base we weren't really told what to do just got off the bus and that was it and weren't clearly given a meeting spot to regather along with no time. The herbal garden felt like a complete tourist trap, untruthful and quite a lot of pressure to buy something. Apart from that my experience has been amazing.

Trip of a lifetime!
Every member of TMR team were friendly, helpful and committed to making your experience the best possible! I have my friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Every trip was so special (especially the safari), and the medical placement was fantastic - I learnt so much about local maternity care, enjoyed being hands on caring for women and their babies. This is an experience I will never forget!

TMR in Sri Lanka
I volunteered at TMR in Sri Lanka for three weeks doing the childcare program. I really enjoyed my time at TMR. I especially felt that Chamo who works in the childcare program provided great support and was always there for advice. I spent 3 weeks at the mighty roar and had so much fun the staff provided fun trips throughout the week aswell as having many weekend wich were all really fun. Everyone you meet are all friendly and you can make good freibds on the trip

I did the Sea Turtle conservation program for 3 weeks with Chathu. Everything was well organised and we got to do so many different activities like releasing the turtles, beach cleans and visiting other areas around Sri Lanka. Everyone here is very welcoming, I very much recommend!!!

Medical programme
Everyone at the TMR team have been super lovely. Very welcoming and helpful! I did the medical programme. The hospitals were very interesting and I learned a lot! Thilini has been amazing in particular. Location of the accommodation was great too.

Unforgettable life experience
The whole experience was amazing! When volunteering with The Mighty Roar in Tanzania we dove head first into the local culture, met some amazing people both volunteering and locals. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful the whole time, and had incredible energy constantly singing and making all us volunteers smile. They also offer fun activities to do after volunteering to further explore the beautiful Tanzanian nature! Highly highly highly recommend

In Africa For 4 Weeks
I volunteered in Imire for 2 weeks doing the horse riding trip there! Was always a dream to do a safari on horse back but with this trip I also helped out with building bridges and helping kids learn how to read at the school. This whole experience was amazing and met some amazing people, Paddy being one of them who tested and quizzed us every ride and I now know a lot about Antelopes! Also, Maddie being another one who helped run the project! So lovely meeting her and the team, learning so much along the way :). After that, I volunteered in Tanzania, in Moshi working at the Dog sanctuary, this was so nice to be able to look after these dogs, I will say one thing, we weren’t allowed to do a lot with them as a virus was going around and ended up moving to childcare for my final day as there was nothing to do. After that I ended my trip in Zanzibar snorkelling and swimming with dolphins which was an amazing experience! Overall I had an amazing time there, and come back feeling more confident and with more friends than I came with! I’d definitely recommend to anyone, best 4 weeks ever! Thank you Mighty Roar!

Sea Turtle Conservation - Argostoli, Kefalonia
Had an absolute incredible two weeks in Greece for the sea turtle conservation. Met amazing people and made unforgettable memories. The team out there was super friendly. We did the Argostoli one, it has some early mornings but it lets you beat the heat, which when you are biking to the different beaches which can be like 8km, it is definitely needed. Then you got most of the day to yourself unless you also had the occasional evening shift or volunteered to help out with a nest relocation or with one of the optional extra shifts.

I didn’t have a single problem during…
I didn’t have a single problem during my volunteering. Everyone at Karu’s guest house was welcoming and always open to conversation which really helped me settle into the new environment of Sri Lanka. Best two weeks of my life
I had the best two weeks of my life on the marine and coastal conservation programme in Kefalonia, Svoronata. I cried when saying goodbye! Only regret was not staying for longer. The people were incredible and all like-minded, we explored the island and had some incredible experiences together. The programme itself was very well organised and the staff were amazing. I learnt so much about marine conservation. The shifts were great from snorkel seagrass surveys to sand dune surveys and were lucky enough to see multiple sea turtle nests. I was nervous about going by myself but honestly I ended up making lifelong friends and having the best experience. The mighty roar were always helpful and made me feel at ease and organised. Already looking at my next trip with them! 10/10 recommend.

Volunteering in Moshi, Tanzania with The Mighty Roar
Honestly, before travelling to volunteer in Tanzania, I had many worries about things that may go wrong. Eventhough the journey I had travelling wasn’t the best the time I spent in Tanzania made it worth it. The country in itself is a beautiful place but what stood out was the kindness, generosity and welcoming behaviour from the staff that work at the hostel but also the people I met at the hospital, at activities, when volunteering in other areas and the people in the community. It allowed for the experience to be a lot more joyful and the TMR team made it very accommodating and were helpful throughout my whole trip. I couldn’t recommend them to other people planning to volunteer enough in Tanzania.
