Tom spent a lot of time with me discussing chairs and their options. He never rushed me or tried to sell me a product. He was more interested in assisting me rather than just sell me a chair quickly.

When I first engage in a chat with him I let him know I was 3-4 months out before finalizing a purchase. He asked about my needs, size, experience with chairs. provided me with his recommendations.

I engaged in chat with Tom further in the next weeks. And truth be told I was looking at everything under the sun so I was blasting him with all sorts of questions. He was super patient and knowledgeable. I eventually made my purchase.

As for the chair, I went for the Osaki DuoMax. 0 Complaints about it and 100% satisfied. I tried a few other chairs and brands locally and the DuoMax made me feel the best.

From my first email to The Modern Back early in the morning to our trip the next afternoon to the store in Sarasota, Tom was more helpful than I could have imagined. I didn't know what to expect as this was the first time I had "test driven" a massage chair, and Tom offered his advice to the newbie couple over the span of our 3.5 hour visit to his store and we never felt hurried, or burdensome. There's a lot to learn about these chairs and you're spending a significant amount of money- Tom understands this and treats you like VIPs. Honestly, it's been a month in our house now and everything he promised was true! You will not waste your time researching the right chair for you when you deal with The Modern Back. If I could I would give 10 stars! Thank you Tom!!

We were looking for a massage chair and did all of our research online. We found The Modern Back and gave them a Chat online. Tom Walls answered a lot of our questions but we needed to “take one for a test drive”. We live outside the DFW metroplex and asked if there were any stores within a few hours drive and Tom directed us to the Osaki Headquarters in Carrollton Tx. Only 90 miles away and fully stocked, we tested several chairs. After choosing the Osaki Kairos, Tom gave us a great deal. When he found out I was military, he even added another discount for that. 6 days later, we were relaxing in our new chair.

I had a wonderful experience with The Modern Back and Tom. He is very knowledgeable and will thoroughly explain the features of his chairs. I would definitely recommend his store to my friends and family! He helped me and my girlfriend and took the time to explain all the features to me.

Called late Friday evening and had the pleasure of speaking with Tom. He provided excellent advice and demonstrated great knowledge to aid us in making a decision on the perfect chair for our needs.
Tom provided a timeline of when the product would arrive using a white glove service. He answered any and all follow up questions regarding order to delivery. The chair arrived in the promised window and was installed with care.
This was a pleasant experience that exceeded expectations; if you’re in the market for a luxury massage chair, I highly recommend using this company.

This is my first massage chair. I did some research online and was lucky enough to call The Modern Back in Flordia. I have never meet Tom Walls in person, but after a five minute conversation, I pulled the trigger on the Osaki Kairos. The best decision I ever made. Tom is a Pro.

It was only by the grace of God that I found The Modern Back company online. From beginning to end, Tom Walls was very patient and attentive to my needs, delivering exceptional customer service and going above and beyond to ensure that I got the the massage chair that was perfect for me.
I ordered the Osaki Avalon and being new to massage chairs, I was like a kid with a new toy (lol). After playing around with it and familiarizing myself with all the many features, let me tell you, this chair is awesome and does not disappoint! Every time I sit in it, I'm in paradise and after one massage, I'm so relaxed, I fall asleep.

3/4/24 AFTER PURCHASE UPDATE: And now for an update after a couple of weeks using the Osaki DuoMax. Oh my! The DuoMax has exceeded my expectations in every way. This confirms that Tom Walls took the time to help me select the RIGHT chair for me. The DuoMax is incredibly versatile and easy to use. I am getting awesome results from the chair physically as well. I cannot recommend it, AND THE MODERN BACK STORE highly enough.

I replaced my old massage chair with a new one from the Modern Back. We bought the Osaki Highpointe 4D.
Modern Back is the best retail company that I have ever dealt with. Tom is just great and so is his wife Anne Marie. They have excellent products and a lot of them to try. Their knowledge of the different chairs is terrific and they were a real pleasure to deal with. I like dealing with a local, family-owned business and prefer to buy this way if I can, rather than the big box stores. Their customer service attitude is just the best and I highly recommend them if you want to try and buy a massage chair. It feels SOO GOOD to have one at home again!

We worked with Tom who is very knowledgeable about the Svago SV-630 Recliner that we purchased. He took the time to show us totally how the chair worked. We haven’t met a more knowledgeable sales person. The chair arrived ahead of the estimated delivery date by a team of very friendly installers. We are very happy with our purchase and thank Tom and his team for that!

I highly recommend The Modern Back /Tom and Ann Marie. No doubt I will be buying my next bed at The Modern Back too. They don't provide a polished sales pitch, just solid information on the massage chairs with a nice atmosphere to test the chairs. We decided on the Daiwa Hybrid Supreme because of the L flexible massage track, multiple touch 6 rollers, stretch features and foot rollers. We tried other chairs (Ochi, Osaki, Kai) but again Daiwa won out. Also don't believe everything "other" retailers say. One dealer tried to scare us by saying we would be required to take the chairs to a service center if there is a problem... Not true. We have a five year in-house warranty. Also, Daiwa has their own techs. The guy that delivered(white glove installation included) and installed the chair (which was excellent btw) will be the same guy that will service the chair if needed. We love the chair. We did go over the budget a bit but the health benefits are definitely worth it!. Thanks again Tom!

Working with The Walls was truly a blessing. Initially, we had ordered a chair from Costco without trying it out, only to discover that it didn't quite meet our expectations. Vivo Ai 4D & 2D.
looked on the internet and stumbled onto some positive feedback about The Modern Back of Sarasota, Fla. and Tom Walls. I contacted Tom and got some clarity on some questions I had and got pricing that was spot on to fit making the deal work. Tom was great to deal with and highly recommend them because the service provided went well and without a hiccup.
