I had recently composed a new treatment plan for a client. The diagnosis codes were the same, but somehow the order of the codes was switched on the subsequent notes. I called the support team and was assisted by Megan Donaldson, who walked me through the process to correct the problem. She was patient, efficient, and friendly, and the issue was resolved quickly. The technical issue I was experiencing took several weeks to be resolved, but the support team kept me updated with frequent updates and check-ins. I never felt my concern or technical issue was dropped or forgotten. Way to keep your customers happy!

TherapyNotes is easy to use and regularly updates their features. I have used the EHR system to support my small practice of several therapists for over a decade. Customer support is outstanding. FAQs and update notifcations are clear and helpful. They answer the phone, clarify questions, solve problems. and follow up.

My psychiatry practice has been using Therapy Notes since 2020. It was chosen because it was felt to be most helpful for the therapists in our office, not the medical providers.

There have been continuous IT updates over the years. Perhaps some of these were useful for areas in which I am not involved, such as billing. But in terms of patient notes, the most critical component of any EHR, they are unnecessary, counterproductive and supremely annoying. I frequently say that either someone in IT is making changes to justify their employment, or they are giving needless assignments to IT interns as a teaching exercise. What they are not doing is focusing on how providers need to record and store information.

Here is the most recent example. Medications are the most critical data in any medical record. For years the Therapy Notes medication template showed "Prescribed by Others", followed by a separate section called "Existing Prescribed Medication" [prescribed by the provider].
This was followed by a section "Medication Moving Forward".

This was clear and easy to maintain. It worked great. You could quickly see any changes being made in the patient's regimen. And it was also easy to refer to the patient's other medications, if there was a concern about about a drug interaction or side effect.

After the most recent IT "update". All medications are now listed in alphabetic order, regardless who is prescribing them. Not only is it laborious to quickly review the meds I am prescribing, but this mishmash listing is a medical mistake waiting to happen.

To make things more difficult, each medication is followed by IT tabs "No Change", "Adjust Rx", and "Stop", regardless whether the medication was prescribed here or by another practice. This is absurdly, needlessly laborious.

To extricate myself from this debacle, I am now typing all medications, separated as before, into the Objective Content section of the note. To eliminate the recent IT change, for every drug listed I must now hit "Stop" and provide a "Stop Date" and "Reason for Stopping". My stated reason is "Bad EMR; now in Objective Content section." Needless to say, this takes a long time simply to restore my note to its original, usable condition.

Customer Service at Therapy Notes is very nice, but not really helpful in addressing complaints. When I complained about the Medication section problem detailed above, they passed along my complaint to someone in IT, who sent me an email saying "you'll like it when you get used to it." I won't. This was a change no one with any knowlege of medicine would have recommended. There was nothing that needed to change and Therapy Notes broke it.

Response to Therapy Notes reply:
We use MD Toolbox for our e-prescribing and have no intention of switching to Therapy Notes. MD Toolbox is reliable, easy to use, and unchanging. That's three things Therapy Notes is not. TrustPilot is filled with complaints about Therapy Notes e-prescribing feature. Why are you ruining your product just to get us to use your much-criticized e-prescribing? This is not good business and it is not good product design.

Emily stayed past the allotted time to make sure that all of my questions were answered. She was very knowledgeable and had an answer or direction for every question I had. She also has a very personable energy, which I would imagine is an invaluable trait to have for a "welcome to therapynotes" support representative. 5/5 stars!

TherapyNotes is an incredible platform. I appreciate the inuitive nature of the EHR and the reliability we've experienced over the last 4 years. TherapyNotes has impecible customer service, and follows up each interaction with a written overview to reference after the fact, which is so helpful when learning a new process! I love it.

I've used therapy notes for over 4 years now, and I am continually amazed and appreciative for their fast, helpful and friendly staff. Because I am a solo practitioner, there are times I have questions regarding billing, insurance, or claims, and the staff have been nothing but wonderful in helping me figure things out. They respond quickly and are always very thorough in their responses to ensure clarity and communication. Cannot recommend them enough!

Heres the deal, short and sweet. I am a doctor of almost 50 years. We can be the dumbist smart people you will ever meet. I had to take over billing and believe me, I am the least qualified person to do so. I had a program that I was using but wont name. Well alright it is Passages Health Care. We had collected money for 16 years until I took over. Suddenly I could not get a claim through. I swithed software to here and tech support fixed the problem. Now I am happy because we are in the black for a change.
