Sadly I believe their reviews
Sadly I believe their reviews; it’s a scam and their customer service is awful. I feel robbed. Posting another review as it’s now been 13 days since Their customer service rep has had my issue which was April 6th when she asked me for photos and pricing. 13 entire days and she has not done anything but send messages with no real resolution. They haven’t compensated me on my two items they kept; One valued at 3k and the other 286. I now am proceeding with legal action to recoup the cost the my two items; since trust pilot doesn’t seem to take anything serious based on their responses. I really had high hopes for this company but sadly their customer service is non existence.
Terrible in every way.
I made the mistake of purchasing a few bags at once, as I was getting a social code. Big mistake. They are not in very good condition and way overpriced. They do not allow returns. I will never buy from there again. I had also bought a bag to sell back some bags I don’t use. They mysteriously “recycled” a Tory Burch and Michael Kors bag, stating they were too worn to sell. They had barely been used. Hope someone enjoys the free bag they got because they won’t send them back either. I will never use Thredup again. Never. It’s terrible.
DO NOT SELL YOUR ITEMS TO THREDUP
DO NOT SELL YOUR ITEMS TO THREDUP! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY, IT SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!
EDIT: (Also see edit at the bottom. I just added more. I RARELY leave bad reviews, I only spend my time on good reviews and service to help out companies people so they receive good experiences, but after reading the response from ThredUp, other reviews and those responses, I am disturbed by their business practice, or should I say, lack there of). I try to leave good reviews to drive business for companies that are ethical and treat their customers well and not dwell on the negative, but I don't care, this company needs to be held accountable.
Original review:
I do not leave reviews unless I have a very valid reason, but people need to know that Thredup is not worth your time and if you are lucky, you might make back what you sent them in the fees they charge you to send them and list them. This is the first negative review I've left for anything in years. I will actually loose money on a box of clothes that was retailed at over $2000. I can see not making a ton, but making under the fee it cost me to just list them, is ludicrous.
I opted for my items to be returned for the 3 boxes I sent, if they were not accepted or sold, as some items were very expensive, designer and practically new. I see that others have complained that paying the return item fee "magically" disappears after they have listed some of your items. That happened to me as well. That is THEFT! I inspected multiple items in perfect condition with a retail value of over $650 at the least and up to $1700. They did not list them and when I reached out to ask why and to make sure they were sent back as I could sell them easily at a consignment shop, they stopped responding to me all together. I sent multiple chats with no response once I started to question their decisions, and when they said they would get back to me in 48 hours over multiple tries to contact them, I have heard nothing (it's been over a week). I can't confirm, but it seems the items they refused to return, were my high ticket items that were only worn once for special events and in excellent condition. The return fee disappeared on these items from these boxes I sent, meaning they kept the designer expensive items even though I opted to have them returned (although there was no reason they should not have been listed).
They also listed items I bought from TJ Maxx for more than I bought them for (I sent one with the TJ Maxx tag attached saying $17.99 and they listed it for over $80, as it was a designer name) and listed it for more than some of my high end designer items they did accept. You are better of buying new at TJ Maxx than purchasing from Thredup. Some new with tags on items that were over $100, that they did list, and I will receive no more than $1.23, if they sell! Ridiculous.
Take the time to go to a real consignment store. Then you do not run the risk of having them completely ignore you when you ask for a reason why they refuse to give your items back or why they did not list them. Instead of just saying they won't, they just decided to not respond, even after multiple attempts. I am seeing others having this same frustration so this is not a one off, it's a pattern.
I spent a lot of time going through my items, boxing them, paying to have them listed, just to loose money on it. Just do not bother. It's a waste of your own time just to feel like you have been lied to and stolen from.
Shame on Thredup and obviously this is the way they run this business as over 4,000 reviewers have confirmed. I wish I would have looked on here first.
EDIT: Yes, I am still upset. They tell everyone they are looking in to the situations further, but I have not heard a word from them. The only way to stop them, is to spread the word so no one else gets taken advantage of. I still can't believe I have left such a negative review (I almost feel bad because I am a very understanding, empathetic person), but a 1.3 rating with thousands (over 4000) people having very similar experiences goes to show that I am not being unreasonable and this company will continue to disappoint good people who worked hard to purchase their items to enjoy and obviously are selling them because they need the income, otherwise we would donate them. By no means do I depend on selling them, but others might. Maybe some people get a decent experience buying from them, but do NOT support by buying because that only supports them taking advantage of all these good people who had hopes of making a small profit and feel like they were taken advantage of and even stolen from. It truly feels like theft. Just one of my dresses should have paid for my fees. I ended up owing them money! Fine if a few pieces to them were "unfit", but everything I sent was 100% reusable/worth selling. STAY AWAY! I DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO FEEL LIKE THE THOUSANDS OF US DO!

Sent items new with tag. Dresses for $80 and they sold for $60 and my earning is $4.22, really?

I sent over $10,000 in stunning designer merchandise to these people and everything was in mint condition. None of these luxury designer labels were advertised correctly, many times the designer wasn't even mentioned in the ad - clothes sold for as little as 1 to 3 dollars per item. It is a travesty, I have made approximately $39 thus far on a $10,000 donation essentially - I don't even get a tax write off. Never ever again!

Thredup ripped off
My girlfriend and I were trying to make some Xtra cash by selling some of her clothes and accessories because she tends to be a shopaholic. Most of this stuff still had the tag on them. So what I'm getting at is thred up ripped us off, pretty much stole from us with false promises. Just one example, she had a Michael Kors purse, which had the price tag still on it mind you, for $298.00. She only received $6.57 for the 300 dollar purse. That's just one example. We got many more. If you plan on selling your stuff on thread up just know that you're going to get chump change you might as well sell it to a bum on the corner.

I’m here to leave the same review as…
I’m here to leave the same review as many others. I sent in clothing last year and I felt I was compensated properly. I recently sent in three boxes - one of which contained a $300 wool sweater and a $300 linen dress from an independent designer (easily google-able) and so far I’ve gotten $20. I tried emailing after seeing that all of my boxes were completed and was told that some take longer to process. I can’t find the higher priced items on their website. It’s been almost 4 months. It totally feels like theft.
*just checked my boxes again and all three kits were completed. Wish I had given my better clothing to a friend.

Between the fees they charge and the percent they keep from sales, you might as well donate your items. $2.97 is what I received from a pair of Kate Spade shoes that I wore a handful of times. Either try to sell your items yourself or just donate your items. I understand the costs they assume, however the balance between Thred Up and the seller are not even close to fair.

First transaction very negative experience.
Made a purchase and the money was withdrawn from my bank, however it never showed an order. I contacted customer service explained everything. I sent a screenshot of the bank withdraw per their request. I was on the phone for an hour. Pasted around to 4 people, everyone asked the same questions, but no one ever solved the issue. I will be contacting my bank and deleting the app.

Felt like I was used and abused
Felt like I was used and abused! I sent in NICE and barely used items, and only 2 were accepted for sale, and they didn't sell- they listed a brand name (Liz Claiborne) suit as 2 separate items despite my concern. Since when can you buy separate sized suit parts in a retail store?? not that I'm aware of, but that was their explanation for listing them separately. I thought I would have the option to get my nice items back, but I didn't realize my sale bag didn't entitle me to get them returned. Overall, an awful experience that I don't plan to repeat. In fairness, they compensated me some for my trouble, but nowhere near the value of my items. I like to feel like my items can be repurposed, but they need to drastically improve their experience for people submitting items.

WOW wish I looked here before
WOW wish I looked here before! I spent a few hours, all excited about getting "new" shirts for summer. I have purchased better named products, pre owned and mostly have had success on POSH. I selected 6 shirts, my size and my picky expectations. I was happy when I used my first coupon and received 50% off. I spent a bit over $80. I waited, a day or two or three ... Nothing other than a we received you order email, Wahoo. Today I was like where is my stuff? Tracking? Every item I spent hours searching for cancelled. They did refund me, but zero notice whatsoever. I was perplexed and annoyed. I wrote to CS they said it appeared that I had "multiple accounts". They accused me of misusing coupon codes? Hands ladies .. who has more than one email address? ME...who sometimes takes advantage of Apple hiding your email so you dont get spammed to death? ME...I have one shipping address. They insulted me, cancelled my order, didnt communicate with me and for a really stupid reason. They should be seeking shipping addresses if people are reusing coupon codes. This was not my intent. So after all that work I emailed CS. I scrambled to see if I could find those shirts...they sold half of them in a matter of hours. How insulting! I went back, I placed another order to not lose all my effort. They killed my coupon code. Meanwhile I have a bag as I was going to resell through them. Off the bat, not doing any of this again.

I sent them a full bags of clothes and shoes (including a pair of Converse and Helly Hansen shoes that I hardly ever worn). They only listed one pair of pants and rejected two. The rest of the clothes and shoes just disappeared. The website is a scam.

Thredup stole my item
Thredup stole my item. I sent a cleanout kit and selected the 4.99 return fee as I always do and they changed it on the backend after not listing my most valuable item in the bag. The bag showed the 4.99 return fee while it was being processed but once the bag listed 5/6 items it was removed.

What a disappointment
What a disappointment! I should have kept my good and even some new business and/or party clothes to donate to the local women shelter/Dress for Success. I paid for shipping for sending 2 boxes in, sold a few items but still many remained unsold. ThreadUp would charge $5.99/item for return shipping. This seems unfair and is called a scam. Hope no others would be fooled.

This company is a rip off
This company is a rip off, I've send in 3 bags of new clothing all with tags still on, roughly around 60 pieces , after it was recommended by an acquaintance.Only a few items listed and sold 2, payout is next to nothing, pennies seriously. And now they want to charge you to fet those items back and the rest they probably keep themselves for profit. This is pretty much stealing your property. Please stay away from Threadup, shady business. And after ready many other reviews I'm not the only kne that got ripped off and stolen from. I need my items back for FREE.

No support for Returns
First of all, I did get what I ordered and the items are decent for what I paid. This review is about trying to return items because I changed my mind. There is zero customer service to assist with returns. To "start a return" the link sends you back to the home sales page. To text for return support will leave you hanging high and dry for a response. To use Messenger to reach anyone will get you an automated response to visit the non-existent "returns" page. I'm stuck with these items. I will not shop from them again.
Follow up to the reply. Thred Up sent me a response on messenger that they will refund the purchase. I added a star for that. I did reply saying that it doesn't explain why the returns link doesn't go to a returns page or the text number not get answered. I never would have left a review had a rep responded and explained the sale was final. Totally would have accepted that. But when it takes trust pilot to get a response from a company, I'm not enthusiastic to shop or sell with them.

Garbage
Firstly I spent over $150, I purchased mainly things that were final sales, but did not expect them to be nothing more than garbage, three things had stains, two were ripped or damaged beyond repair. Was sent kids clothing under the impression they were adults. Very unhappy, will never order from them again.

I am very disappointed with this…
I am very disappointed with this company. The very first kit I sent was great. I actually sold most of the items I sent and ended up making some money, which I used right on the spot to purchase from them and ended up spending some extra money on top of it.
However, I felt like that was a way to get me in. My other bags had huge problems and shame on me for giving them another chance. I did a closet purge a few months ago and had three big bags with high-end brand clothing and shoes, some of which were new with tags. All the items I sent were in great condition and I checked to make sure they were the brands that were accepted by the company. I noticed that some of my items were listed as "no earnings", even though they were high-end brands in great condition that were listed as accepted brands on their website. I also noticed that suddenly my items were not selling as quickly as the first bag was sold. Most of the items suddenly expired and later I noticed some of my items listed for sale again, even though I was told that the expired items would be donated.
Obviously, I won't be dealing with this company again. I wish I had just donated all my clothes to a charity vs. giving it to these people. Very disappointing.

Okay for buyers, but sellers beware!
I had purchased a couple of items from ThredUp that were nice and greatly discounted, so I decided to attempt to do a "clean out." I sent 9 items (my first mistake, more is better) and all were accepted for sale including a brand new, never worn dress that was marked down as having "minor wear on the fabric" and a pair of leather shoes I had spent over $ 100 for. Most things sold quickly, but for next to nothing. Two things were "donated" for some reason. In all, I made about $ 12 for my items and with their $ 15 selling fee, I ended up making absolutely NOTHING on the transaction.
