Unauthorized policy changes, sloppy billing/payment system
They added my son as a driver on my policy despite me providing all the requested paperwork showing that he has his own policy, and that we dont drive each other's vehicles. They also had a auto payment malfunction jn which one month the payment wasn't collected. No message came from the company to customers about this. This resulted in them taking out extra payments after I had canceled my policy, and at first, they couldn't explain to me why I was being charged. Some insurance companies will have you pay five out of the six months. I thought that's what happened here, it was in line with how my previous two insurance companies handled payments. Now I have to pawn things in order to make up for this payment because my budget is already stretched super thin. I recommend avoiding this company. They have difficulty in updating records, make unauthorized changes ( despite you taking out time and effort to provide them with what they need), and their billing is jacked up.
Travelers Insurance falls significantly…
Travelers Insurance falls significantly short when you need them most. Experiencing a catastrophic loss and dealing with their disorganized, disconnected departments—where representatives constantly pass the buck—makes the claims process agonizingly slow and frustrating, leaving you stranded in your own home for weeks on end.

I had a very disappointing experience with Travelers. After an accident that was not my fault, the communication and handling of my claim were frustrating from the beginning.
I repeatedly asked for clear information in writing about the repair process, approved parts, and the policy behind using recycled/non-OEM parts. I was told about an out-of-pocket cost only after the process was already moving forward. I asked for documentation and clarification, but after my last email, I never received a response.
It is frustrating to be left without answers while trying to get your vehicle properly repaired after an accident you did not cause. I expected better communication, transparency, and follow-through. Instead, I felt ignored and unsupported.

After many many years being the costumer from Travelers , I am very disappointment of the service they provide. Now this company feels like a complete scam. They are happy to take your money, but they are not be there for you when you need protection. Save your money and go somewhere else! And I did it! I highly recommend avoiding Travelers at all costs. Poor service, poor management, not respond on the calls, it feels like their working very unprofessional people , which can not answer the simple questions.

Now almost July 1st I already made a payment for the next 6 months and then they send the payment back to me. So I've called there several times try to make the payment again and they can't take a payment I go on the website it says no payment due! I'll give it another day or two if I can't make the payment by then I'm going to have to call my agent to find another insurance company this is ridiculous. Call customer service you get the Philippines and most of them don't know what they're doing or what's going on. Absolutely ridiculous and I have a clean driving record.
Terrible Customer service
I was a traveler‘s client for quite some time. I had my home insurance as well as my car insurance with them. I was involved in two automobile accidents and was not at fault in one of them. My car was also hit in a parking lot while I was shopping.
When my policy was set to expire, they originally were going to drop me as a client. However, after several underwriting reviews at varied levels, they agreed to keep ensuring my vehicle. At a cost that was three times the original amount.
I recently relocated to another state and obtained car insurance through State Farm at a cost that was even slightly lower than my insurance was with Travelers before they decided to triple it.
I called on June 15 to cancel my policy and asked for confirmation emails. I did not receive them. I called on June 15 and made the same request and have the same result. I called the morning of June 16 and was told that there were two separate policies on my vehicle, which sounds impossible to me, and the employees said that only one of them had been canceled, but the other was still active. He said he would cancel that one and ensure that I received confirmation. For the third time, that did not happen.
I called later in the day and spoke with a manager who finally got the situation resolved. The whole experience was absurd. It was a simple request to cancel my coverage.
This insurance company is awful.
what a horrible customer service…
what a horrible customer service experience. First i had a claim. Agents were very rude and not professional. Then had to call customer service to change my phone number on the account. Was on hold for over an hour. This is rediculous.
Terrible Tech
I signed up and a week later could not access my policy in the app or on the website. It took forever to get in touch with someone. Eventually I canceled my policy after less than a week.
Some of the worst enterprise tech that I've ever seen in my life.
Do not by any means consider using this…
Do not by any means consider using this horrible company who will find everyway out of paying you replacement value on your home repair in an emergency. After you file a claim they will cancel you without notification. I had to find out from my bank is that even legal? Avoid avoid!
My husband and my mom had travelers…
My husband and my mom had travelers insurance on their shared truck, my mom passed away and I called to cancel the insurance because they quoted the both of them $78 a month for insurance, then when it came time to have the actual policy it went to 133 a month for just him and the truck (mom was an excluded driver), I called the first time to talk over the options, when the staff lady told me that the department would not make a waver because certain things changed from the quote to the actual coverage, but couldn't specify. I told her this wasn't going to work for us and we needed to cancel. I got off the phone, got another insurance company to pick him and the truck up, insured them, and then called back in the same night to cancel the travelers. First, I spoke to a lady who was less than nice. She said (contradictorily) that I could make changes to the policy, but NOT cancel the policy, and they would first need to speak to my mom..... I explained that she had passed, well then that led to being told I would have to have executive paperwork saying I could make that change? Then when I explained I didn't have that kind of paperwork I was sent to another department, the guy who got the call was OK he was nice enough, said all I had to do was sign a paper AND provide proof that the vehicle was covered with a different insurance company, ( something that their website contradicts, stating you don't have to show proof, but that you shouldn't drive without insurance) Which oh let's talk about the online portal that's programmed to NOT ALLOW you to cancel a policy online without calling in!!! So I got the paperwork at 6 pm last night, signed it, and sent in the proof and the signature page, then I got an email today saying they can't accept the Proof document because someone's name is mismatched on it, and they need more proof. I called in again, 3rd time. Told the lady who answered that I didn't know if we needed to get a SUPERVISOR involved but I felt that Travelers at this point was playing around with me and was trying to not cancel the policy, so then I get transferred back to the folks I talked to last night, got a different guy, thankfully he sort of did his job, at first he was acting like he needed more paperwork and when I told him I fulfilled what they asked of me and just wanted to cancel the insurance he said well the policy document you have only shows the start date not an end date, to which I replied does it matter you asked for proof of insurance and I got it last night, so I had to wait for him to decide that was good enough to proof the trucks insured just to get the policy cancelled....... 0/10 would not recommend, when you tell a company someone has died, the last thing the family wants to do with you is argue about whether you get to keep charging the dead family members living relatives for a product you upcharged in the first place and couldn't explain how or why.
Avoid at all costs
If I could give negative reviews I would. What a terrible customer service experience. I can’t stand them and would never trust them with my insurance any more. They advertise investments to me but they can’t even get insurance right. No way. Go to anyone else. They take forever with claims.
After being a loyal customer of…
After being a loyal customer of Travelers Homeowners Insurance for nine years, I finally decided to close my policy because my premiums increased dramatically year after year. Instead of rewarding long-term customers for their loyalty, the company continued raising rates to unreasonable levels without providing clear explanations.
Every time I called customer service to ask why my premiums kept increasing, I was given vague answers or no real explanation at all. On one occasion last year, a representative even hung up on me in the middle of the conversation, which was extremely unprofessional and frustrating.
What made the experience even worse was discovering that after canceling my policy, I was told I still owed an additional 40 days of payment because the billing was supposedly charged afterward rather than beforehand. This practice felt very misleading and unfair. Most customers reasonably expect insurance coverage to be paid for in advance, not billed afterward in a way that creates unexpected charges when closing an account.
The entire experience left me deeply disappointed with Travelers’ customer service, lack of transparency, and treatment of loyal policyholders. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for fair pricing, honesty, and respectful customer service.
If I could, I would give them negative five stars
Travelers wouldn't talk to us about a $3000 mistake they made.
Their CS robot is like all of them, The minute you answer one question, even "residential customer" you get locked into a pathway you cannot escape until you hang up and start over. It took saying "real person" 25 times, yes 25 times, I finally get a real person. They looked us up. Asked us ONE question "Is XYZ your agent?" I answered yes, then they immediately transferred me to the agent's company phone robot and hung up on us with out asking what issue we were calling about.
We were calling them because they sent the wrong amount in this years home owners insurance bill to the mortgage company which caused our escrow to go into a $3000 shortage which jumped our monthly loan payment $400/month. Rocket Mortgage could see the mistake and told us we had to get Travelers to issue a refund for the mistake. After wasting 30 minutes of our lives on the phone trying to contact them, our insurance agent was able to call them and after an hour of wasting his time, they finally issued a check for the $3000 mistake they made.
While waiting for this check we have to miracle an extra $400 for the month on the house payment. If the check doesn't get here soon, we will have to miracle another $400 extra for next month to keep from getting late fees on our mortgage. All of this is Travelers fault! And they wouldn't even talk to us. At least Rocket Morgtage was able to see the amount had been changed by a 2nd bill from Travelers, an amount that match the amount we set up with our Insurance agent. We don't know why Travelers made this $3000 mistake and I guess we will never find out because they won't talk to us, only our agent.
Our agent with Al Boenker of Texas was VERY helpful. He told us next time just call him. Al Boenker Agency will be helping us shop around to a different home owners company when this policy is concluded.
So if you are stuck with Travelers for the time being and need help, start with you insurance agent. Travelers will just waste your time, not listen to you, even when there is a $3000 dollar mistake that was their fault. They won't even listen to you long enough to find out what your issue is.
I will give Al Boenker Agency 5 out of 5 stars! I would give Travelers 0 stars if I could.
Once we finally get the $3K issued check they are snail mailing to us, we will have to contact Rocket Mortgage and take extra steps to return the money to escrow and get the monthly payment back to what it is supposed to be. Travelers did NOTHING to help us correct the $3000 dollar mistake THEY made. We had to make all the calls and do all the footwork. And were are having to pay a LOT of extra money until the mistake is fully corrected by having that missing money back in escrow. When we called them direct, they hung up on us by transferring us to our agent with NO EXPLINATION.
So frustrating!!!!
If it's policy for Travelers to not talk to customers if they have an agent THEN THAT NEEDS TO BE THE FIRST THING THEIR PHONE ROBOT NEEDS TO TELL YOU BEFORE IT ASKS ANY QUESTIONS. I don't even know if that's their policy or not since I only got to answer the real person one question before he ditched me. He never even asked why I called.

Ghetto customer service and made to wait maliciously
Discriminatory towards those who cannot speak
I am disabled. I lost my ability to speak when I was intubated during COVID19. Life hasn't been worthwhile for me since then, but I do the best I can. I got new coverage with Travelers, but the agent who set it up (through my employer's resource program) used the wrong address. I reached out to Travelers to update it but the representative, Jeannette, said a voice call is the only way to update it. It cannot be done in writing. The TTY doesn't work and I am now uncovered at my apartment and there's nothing I can do.
Communication with the adjuster named Rochel
Communication with the adjuster named Rochel Carnegie was very awful. She was like a trainee, had zero customer service skills, and was filing false statements in the customer's file in the system. She would call and immediately hang up the phone, and then write in the file that "customer did not respond". Totally falsified her "work" on the file. Never answered our calls. Nightmare.
It's a mixed bag with Travelers
It's a mixed bag with Travelers for actual damages to my vehicles they have been relatively good, fairly quick and didn't argue me about payout.
However when it comes to personal injuries and mental health issues from the only serious collision I've ever been in it has been like pulling teeth. My fiance had her claim approved eventually but I am still fighting over mine.
I would overall not recommend them.
The Lord knows no one is perfect
The Lord knows no one is perfect, a large amount of companies sadly in the modern age... has allowed customer service to fall at the waist side... I appreciate the benefits of technology in a well purposed functional way, not to the point of the customer paying the price.. We had payed for our Travelers car insurance policy as first time customers upfront in full.. I have always loved American Family for personal service with the same insurance agent ... Travelers Insurance lost common sense & after speaking to one of their many reps & explaining that the people they were trying to add to our policy were former owners of our home & we did not know them.. not related ect... at the time with my disability I could not go online how they wanted me to... spoke to them & thought it was good ...We missed their letter of cancellation for their mistake & we were out of town... all because they did a online AI search of our address placing people we did not know on our policy It cost us a lot of money with the state & physical challenges for me...to fix.. No apology .. Sadly I will NEVER use them again... & pray companies stop focusing & spending tons of money on creating a image of the original founders & instead live up to the foundation being honest, honorable in their business ethic...which in the long run would do them all better God Bless You all..I hope this helps.. If you have had a good experience & it works for you then Thank you Jesus...Have a blessed Day!!
You won’t believe what Travelers did to me
I have the worst experience with Travelers Auto and feel compelled to let others know how awful they are. I am sure people won’t even believe some of the things they did and lied about, but it’s all true. Driving home from the dealer where I just picked up my car.(2.5 miles driven). Rear ended at a stoplight by a drunk driver. He was arrested and was convicted of OWI. His insurance admitted he was completely at fault. This should be a no brainer as you might think, but it was a nightmare. Geico was at fault drivers insurance, and they quoted my damage at $3200. The body shop quoted $14k! I went and used Travelers to cover it thinking it would be easier. They lowballed me the cost of replacement by over 2k. This means I would still have to pay this much off on my loan, for a totaled car. I provided them with 10 different comparison cars with same mileage, all showing higher valuations than Travelers. The initial message I left them took 6 days for the girl (Rachael M.) to get back to me.when asked why so long, she just said “I was busy”. She tried to brush it off with Geico and just close out the claim as fast as she could to get it off her plate. I found out later that she was set to go on vacation, and couldn’t leave an open case. Then they told me I didn’t have towing/rental/gap on policy. Days and weeks of fighting that, they wrong. They still would pay me what I paid for the car less than 24 hours before the wreck. Stating that the car depreciated. (70% depreciation for 2.5 miles of usage!) finally got them to up their value, but they still refused to pay me my $500 deductible. They absolutely would not waive it, or even agree to pay me once they got it from Geico. To this day, I am still out over $500 for a car that I had for less than 15 minutes, and drove for 2.5 miles. This was a very odd and unique case, but they refused to make any considerations for me. I worked with over 8 people throughout all this, and not a damn one of them asked if I was hurt or ok (I’m not), or to actually say that indeed I should not have to pay a dime due to the OWI conviction, etc. the more I pushed back, the nastier they got. One guy (Noah Damon) literally sent me emails with my name signed to them, that I NEVER WROTE, and was trying to make me send it back as a release of claims. He also lied to me and said that they could not pay me the claim amount until I signed a power of attorney giving them ownership of the totaled car. I said due to all the lies and problems they have already caused me, I was not going to sign the poa until I had gotten the check. Noah in writing said that it was “the law” that I had to sign it first. When I said that my attorney said there wasn’t a law line that, his boss (Ethan Harper) said, ok, well it’s not actually a law in your state, So I guess we can pay you first. Even then they made it as difficult as possible for me to get the money. They said they could use Paypal( I thought it odd) to get the money faster. I asked 4 times for them to give me their PayPal accountand I would request the amount from them. I did not want them to send it to a wrong account and then say too bad, we sent it. Finally they agreed to send $1.00 which I would confirm, and then they would send the balance. Again, this took days. I of course asked for a refund of the policy payment as I had to pay for a full month, and they finally sent me a refund of ~$70 out of ~$157 that I paid. I only was to be charged for 2 days. They said there wasn’t cancellation fees as well as all other reasons to justify them with refunding me less than 50% of what I should have been refunded. They also absolutely refused to waive or return the $500 deductible. Which they should have waived at the start. So, after over 21/2 months. I still am out over $550 for something that was not my fault at all. All because of greed. I told them that they would be getting ALL THIS BACK WHEN THEN WENT AFTER Geico, but they didn’t care. They were just pissed at this pt. I’ll just add it to my medical claim that my attorney is handling, which is going to be much more, as I am permanently maimed due to the accident. All of this could and SHOULD have been avoided, I know Travelers spent so much more on all the employees salaries that worked on this for all this time. Travelers, you need to stop having your employees do sketchy things and try to excuse that behavior by using “loopholes”! Every damn one of them thought they were actually doing
the “right thing”! I’m sure they were all rewarded for saving you money. As we all know, insurance companies are a FOR PROFIT business. It is there business model to pay out as little as possible on claims so they make more money. Don’t ever let them tell you different! Shame shame
This company is absolutely terrible…
This company is absolutely terrible with communication... they took 5 days after my accident to respond to me. They then forgot to tell the tow company to take my vehicle to an auto body shop. This took 5 days. The auto body shop after they came up with an estimate contacted me because Travelers was not responding to them. They said that the estimate had been done for 4 days with no decision. I had to call Travellers and tell them to make a decision. The adjuster lied and said they had not made an estimate. 4 more days later they make a decision to total the car. This took 8 days to make a quick easy decision. I was then ghosted for 3 more days with the offer. Their offer for total loss was 2,000 dollars less than the cheapest replacement vehicle nationwide. I have never had a harder time dealing with an insurance company. This is the way i was treated while I was hit by their client who was driving a semi with a suspended licence.. This is unacceptable.
