It gets worse every year. This years interface is absolutely dreadful. There are so many different packages that are designed to confuse. Upselling all the time. You get to a point and it tells you that you can’t proceed any more unless you unnecessarily upgrade. Sick of Turbotax.

I've never used their software, so am not commenting on that.

However, I can state that TurboTax Deluxe Full Service is terrible (turbotax.intuit.ca). Their "tax experts" are hit-and-miss. Some are fine, others are incompetent. Their user interface is terrible.

Serious errors by their "expert" required refiling my return several times.

Their telephone customer support is simply bizarre; the person on the phone seems to have almost zero knowledge of their own products so it's almost impossible to get him to understand the details of your question. Huge waste of time!

Tax Filing Glitch
I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. On March 5, 2025, after completing my taxes and after being charged by Turbo Tax for one returns, I was advised that I could not file my returns until the end of March. First of all, Turbo Tax should have made their customers aware of this glitch prior to completing our returns and secondly they should not have requested payment until these issues were resolved. Next year I'll use a more reputable software company.

I have paid for full service that included audit defense. When CRA sent a reassessment notice I reached out to Audit defense in November 2024, they asked me for some document which I provided, Its been three months, no response from Audit defense, despite 100s of follow up messages in their tool.. Extremely frustrating customer experience. SCAM... do not use them again

When doing the tax return, a screen comes up promoting a reduction in price for the 25 year old and younger. Even though the free option was selected, the option changes to the deluxe at that point, without informing the user.

After one hour of back and forth with customer service, NO SOLUTION WAS PROVIDED other than ''you have to pay or restart again'', even though I showed the employee that even when starting again, the option reverts back to deluxe. So, I lost 3h of my time and they were not able to simply change the option to free.

Absolute waste of time, and a total scam. Stay away!

Got my copy of Turbotax and had my taxes completed well before the Feb. 19th opening of Netfile, so that I could get the task of tax filing done with for the year and have my refund within the first few days of March.
On February 19th, I updated the program to the latest version and loaded my completed return. After wading through the numerous self promotion messages and attempts to upsell, I arrived at the Netfile option.
Surprise!!! The forms are not ready yet and there's nothing you can do about it. We'll probably have them by EARLY MARCH!
If you cannot have your tax software ready to go by the time the Government has Netfile ready to use, you should probably be in another business.
I'm really irritated that there was no mention of this when Intuit was taking my money to sell me a product that I would not be able to use when it came time to use it. Total garbage and I would not recommend this software to anyone.

As a newcomer to Canada, I thought using TurboTax's Live Full Service would be the ideal way to navigate the complex tax system. However, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my story to prevent others from making the same mistake.

From the very beginning, I encountered problems with the tax expert assigned to me. He made critical mistakes, such as claiming that the child benefit was automatic and that we didn't need to apply. To my dismay, I later learned that this benefit only applies if the child is born in a Canadian hospital, otherwise you have to fill a simple form to request it.

After submitting my tax return, my troubles only escalated. I received a letter requesting additional information within 30 days. I reached out to my tax expert for help, but the real nightmare began when after some replies he simply vanished. Despite countless attempts to contact him through the chat service, I received no response whatsoever. As the deadline approached, panic set in, and I was left with no choice but to call CRA for an extension. I’m still waiting for my tax expert to reply.

TurboTax's lack of professionalism and care for their customers is alarming. Their entire customer flow is designed to isolate you from any form of human support. If your assigned tax expert fails to respond, you are left in the dark with no one to turn to. The only option they offer is to post on a forum, but my cries for help went unanswered.

I was desperate to find a phone number to speak with a real person, but shockingly, there was none available for my product. When I called the general support number, I was met with an automated system that demanded a support number I didn't have. It became clear that TurboTax's goal is to minimize costs by avoiding direct support, leaving customers like me stranded and frustrated.

Even my wife faced a similar situation with her tax expert, who only responded after a prolonged period of silence, and said she could not help me with my tax expert, again I was on my own. The level of unprofessionalism displayed by TurboTax is unacceptable.

Not only was I left in distress, but my friend also had a harrowing experience with TurboTax's Live Full Service. Just like me, he entrusted his tax affairs to their experts. As the tax deadline loomed, my friend found himself frantically trying to contact his assigned tax expert for guidance on some critical matters.

To his shock and dismay, his expert had gone on vacation without notifying him or providing any alternative support. For nearly two weeks, he was left in the dark.

The lack of accountability in TurboTax's system is appalling. I suspect that my assigned expert was on vacation, as it's now July, and their system doesn't seem to allow for reassignment of cases. This left me in a vulnerable position, and despite reaching the deadline, TurboTax seemed utterly indifferent to my predicament.

Given our shared experiences and the countless horror stories I've come across from other users, it is evident that TurboTax Canada's TurboTax Live Full Service is a gamble not worth taking. The risk of being left stranded without proper guidance is simply too high, particularly for newcomers like us who are still navigating Canada's tax system.

In light of all these concerns, I strongly advise against using TurboTax's Live Full Service. Instead, explore other reputable options like hrblock.ca, which has received positive feedback from those who have tried their services. Protect yourself from unnecessary stress and potential financial complications – steer clear of TurboTax Canada and their unreliable Live Full Service.

ive been using Turbotax.ca for ages, this year im going to an accountant for a $40 fee per return, because they want to charge me $100 for a nulled out T slip, for 1 return.
Absolute scam, they have been steadily increasing their rates, year over year, which doesn't make any sense as its just software that you do all the work on. the money grabs in the system are atrocious .
absolutely avoid, go to your local tax accountants, far superiors to this

I received a letter in the mail that I haven't paid city taxes, which I have and now I have to take time out to provide documentation that I did. TurboTax/Intuit doesn't flag this and could cost users hundreds of dollars if not more in fines and fees. Their customer service is non-existent, their customer service bot system is dreadful and of no real use. if you do actually speak to someone they won't help you unless you upgrade to a higher/expensive service plan. not using the software anymore - not worth the money.

I've used the TurboTax CD or the download version for many years. This year decided to use the online version, to have web based access to my data.
Although I purchased the Standard version from Costco that allows me 8 returns, the lead in screens try to charge an additional $20 per return. After 30 minutes Googling this, I just accepted the terms given apparently you can put in your access code at the end to offset this , but of course this isn't stated anywhere. So away I go with the "interview" questions. I put data in but never can access the tax Schedules that it goes to, or the line numbers on those forms. This doesn't stop the software for asking for "the amount input on line 26500 of your dependent's form", or you can't advance to he next screen. So you get frustrated. But, the software asks you to rate "my experience" with the product every two screens. I start rating it average, but by the end I purposely rate it horrible at every opportunity, not that the company cares. It gets better. Sensing your frustration, it shamelessly requests that you buy an upgraded version for another $80. This is completely unnecessary of course. How about audit protection for $140? How about pay another $50 for advanced help?
How about Intuit produce a user friendly product that I can easily see what I've input?
I don't write many reviews, but after using this product I just had to try to save others the frustration.
