I’ve had two sets of the pink oyster mushrooms from Urban Farm-It. The first time was successful although to be honest the process did involve a LOT of faffing about. I got several crops of mushrooms - all told enough for maybe three generous portions of mushrooms on toast. The second, recent experience was very different… Although I followed the instructions to the letter and exactly repeated what I’d done first time around the mycelium took months to develop. Once I moved to the fruiting stage absolutely nothing happened. I followed the various troubleshooting solutions but again, after many weeks all I harvested was a large colony of black flies. Eventually the whole thing went into the bin. Very disappointing.
**UPDATED: As well as the reply below, Urban Farm-It sent me a really nice and helpful email within hours of my posting this review. So definitely 5 STARS for their customer service (and an extra star added here!).

Lifelong mushroom lover, first time grower. Lion's Mane is growing great, had some issue with mould on sticks supporting bag but sorted it quickly. I emailed Urban-Farm-It with some concerns and some questions and got responses same day. Lots of healthy mycelium (mushroom root system) in growing bag so I'm hoping for more than 2 flushes. Now ordered oyster mushroom growing kit and it has been dispatched just 2 hrs after placing order. Next thinking about thwir Wine cap mushrooms in garden bed. I'd advice to watch their videos before ordering so you know what's required for success.
I do this because I'm a foodie and standard white cap mushrooms just doesn't offer the flavours.

I have had several mushroom growing kits before .. all successful, however this turned out to be a lot more hassle!
First ,it isn't clear that you have to get spawn separately.Second when I got it I then had to fiddle about with jugs of boiling water and hand mixing spawn into substrate. Also a lot of warnings re temp etc when the grey oysters I had ordered were in fact also fruiting in the wild.I live in a coolish house and never had problems with temp.All a bit OTT.for a 'hobby' kit

Very good customer service issue with spawn not turning up and they sorted it straight away, very excited to try but had no luck with the grow followed every instruction but nothing grew but was good fun trying

I'm a regular customer and buy all my bulk spawn from them. Great selection for sale and customer service is 100%. Would definatley recommend 🍄👍

My kit arrived with a split in the bag so couldn’t be used. I emailed Urban Farm-It and received a new bag of substrate the very next day. That is brilliant customer service, thank you Urban Farm-It!

I absolutely loved my mushroom kit, it was amazing! So good I brought another one as a gift for family member! The urban farm team were so friendly, super helpful and efficient when my parcel was delivered to the wrong address by delivery partner.

Sent wrong item, wouldn't refund or send item I had originally ordered as I had accidentally set up incorrect item before I realised. Not good customer service considering their mistake.

Excellent service. Plugs received within two days and the quality looks really good. What was nice, I forgot to use my discount code and emailed the company. Haidee responded that day and reimbursed the discount. So impressed.

Fast reliable service and immediate resolution to an issue with no delay or fuss.

Since writing this review on the 19th Dec I have been emailed by the company with an apology, issued a full refund and received today the item which hadn’t arrived since my order date of the 5th December. So although it has felt frustrating the company has since seeing my review done all that they can and more to rectify the situation, so I may take this review down in order to not cause unnecessary bad will.

I am confused by all the positive reviews for this company. On the 5th December. I ordered Blue-Grey Oyster Mushroom Growing kits x 2 ( incl postage cost £35.74 ) they still haven’t arrived, I emailed asking where my order was and received this response.

However, when I put the tracking number onto Royal Mail site it says on the 5th December.

The sender has advised they have despatched your item to Royal Mail.
More information will be available once we have received your item and scanned it into our network.

I have sent further emails and left voicemail messages to no avail. ( they have no-one to speak to, just a pre recorded message) No-one in this supposedly trustworthy company is taking responsibility for this, I can only assume that I have been scammed.
I just received this response, so hopefully they’ll come good in the end:

The Customer Service received from Urban-Farm-It is fantastic, I wish other companies would be as focused on their customer service as this company does. Well Done Urban-Farm-It ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recently ordered a lions mane mushroom growing kit as a birthday gift for my daughter. I was given an arrival date but unfortunately it didn’t arrive. I emailed and explained and got a reply back about an hour later.
They couldn’t have been more helpful. After looking into why they immediately put it right by send a kit with DPD next day delivery. It arrived and still in time for me. The speed of answering apologising about the mix up and making sure I had them was brilliant.
I really couldn’t praise them enough and will certainly use them again as I am sure my daughter will. In my mind they definitely deserve 5⭐️

Had a bit of a rough start with the fruiting of my Lions Maine, purely because of my own mistakes.
However the team at Urban-farm It, are going to send me a replacement which I look forward to.
Very kind of them to give me a second chance.
Hopefully this time I will be able to pull it off.
