Unexpected £500+ Bill Despite Not Agreeing to Proceed

During the application process for my new property, I received a call from Urban Billing to discuss potential utility costs. They had been suggested by the referencing/leasing company used by the letting agent. I was not intending to use a bills package provider, but I thought it would be useful to understand what the costs might be.

After discussing the plan over the phone, the quoted costs were very high, as I had expected. I explained that I would need to discuss this with my housemate before agreeing to anything. The person I spoke to then said, “Oh, I thought this was just a set-up call.” I clarified that I was only looking to get an idea of the costs, that I was considering other options, and that I would not be proceeding without speaking to my housemate first. This was acknowledged, the call ended, and I understood that no account or service had been set up.

A couple of months after moving in, having already arranged and paid for my utilities directly with other providers, I received an email from Urban Billing stating that I owed over £500 and needed to set up a direct debit. I immediately called their customer service team, explained the situation, and provided the date of the original call. I was told they would look into it and come back to me.

I have still not received any proper response, yet I continue to receive emails saying that I owe this money, despite the fact I never agreed to proceed and have been paying my utility bills through the providers I arranged separately. This has been extremely frustrating and concerning, and the lack of communication has made the situation worse.

Subscription cancellation

Even though I didn't proceed with the subscription, I had an excellent experience with them, especially with how Yves was quick to handle my query.

Don't use unless you like being ignored

If you have an issue with them, it will take them well over a week to respond. Their phone lines never work, and despite their automated email saying they'll get back in 24 hours, it takes an average of 12 days for them to respond to me. Customer service in the toilet from them.

I contacted Urban Billing for the first…

I contacted Urban Billing for the first time today.

I spoke with a kind and lovely gentleman called Judah.

Judah was incredibly helpful regarding my request and also took time to explain what Urban Billing means and how it works. I appreciated that as it was my first point of contact via a Telephone Call (after applying on line) with the Company - as it had been recommended by my lovely new Estate Agents - Raines Estate Agency - so I wanted to know more about it.

I enjoyed chatting with Judah who went over and above. A true asset to the Company

Glad I have the opportunity to pay one Company instead of paying several Companies for my Energy and Water Bills. So a great concept

I can’t believe a national company are so blatantly fraudulent. I am contacting the ombudsman, police , my mp and national news media outlets to highlight this.

Disgusting company!! STAY AWAY!!!

Honestly do not know where to start, got a quote online and thats as far as I went and they actually took the bills over when I never actually wanted to go ahead with anything. Recently struggled with my finances and was put into a debt solution. Urban billing have been notified of this and I have had nothing but issues since, No contact regarding it, I had to submit a formal complaint for then to actually do something, got told I would hear back from their credit control team and never did, I have been having threatening emails since them and every time I do I email back, and once again no Answer, Called multiple times and most of the time they never pick up and call goes silent and then disconnects. And then yesterday I get someone come out to my property to discuss the balance even though it was in my debt soulutionand they cannot legaly touch me for me and try and charge me £60.00 for coming out. Absolutley disgusting company, leaving as soon as I can and will never return, customer service is shocking at this place

Yves was very understanding

Yves was very understanding. I had a good quote but it included a broadband item. I did not want to include broadband. Yves responded swiftly and I got a new quote without broadband; still very competitive. Every service was connected instantaneously. All in all, it was a very positive experience.

I don't normally leave reviews but I…

I don't normally leave reviews but I think people need to know that this company are very obviously fraudulently creating accounts and frightening people into believing they own hundreds of unpaid bills! Absolutely appalling behaviour and zero proof of any contracts or agreements made. I just want people to know and to challenge them.

I have also reported them to the ombudsman.

The customer service team demonstrated exceptional responsiveness in promptly investigating and rectifying an unauthorized billing error following my complaint. The unauthorised account was successfully closed, and the bill was canceled in a timely manner.

Lots of miscommunication.

Not very understanding of individual circumstances. Not good communication with other staff that I have already spoke and made an agreement with. Giving lots of different answers so not sure which one to listen to.

Worst company i have ever used…

Worst company i have ever used, recommend to stay away!! Constant charges, no solution. They have taken money out of my account without authorisation.
