With certain items we have to 'courier proof' in case of transit damage and as it was a fragile item, this would be why. Hopefully you can re-use or recycle. the materials. Delivery times are a lot longer than advertised
Delivery times are a lot longer than advertised.
I've had one successful order on this website, so I don't want to be too harsh. But my last order is now 17 days overdue and we have no sign of it appearing.
I called around 3 weeks ago and was told the items were "leaving the manufacturer" and would be with us in 1-2 weeks.
My wife called 1 week ago and was told that they were waiting for notification from the manufacturer... and that it would be 2 weeks to delivery.

We completely understand your frustration, especially given the differing updates you received. Our estimated lead times are provided as an indication based on the typical delivery times from the manufacturer, but unfortunately, on this occasion, there has been an unexpected issue.
Having investigated your order, it appears that we received an incorrect item from the manufacturer. Regrettably, this wasn't communicated to you at the time, which has delayed the dispatch of your order, and we sincerely apologise for both the delay and the lack of communication.
To help get your order to you as quickly as possible, Chloe from our Sales Team will be contacting you to arrange delivery of all the stock items we have available. We will then send the outstanding item - the one that was delivered incorrectly to us - as soon as the correct replacement arrives from the String.

Prompt delivery great product
Prompt delivery great product, rubber washing bowl, have been looking to replace my original one which I have had for 11 years. Still in full working order just looks a bit tatty.

Good products and excellent service
I ordered string shelves, they were good quality and arrived quickly, however when I saw them I realised they didn't suit my room. Chloe in customer services was really helpful, I got through straightaway by phone and the returns and refund process was very easy. Although I didn't keep the items this time, I'd certainly order from them in future.

The service is disgusting
The service is disgusting, the information about the items on their website does not correspond to reality, half of the items are out of stock or discontinued, the delivery time for made to order items is fake, in fact it is at least three times longer. And also a disgusting, lazy and dumb customer support that processes orders and responds with emails for weeks. I really regretted contacting them, now I'm waiting for my refund. Avoid.
UPDATE:
Nice try at gaslighting and playing the victim to save your reputation, but let’s look at the actual facts:
1. You are selling air. You blamed your suppliers and HAY, but I did not buy from them—I bought from you. It is your fundamental job as a retailer to keep your inventory updated. Selling a discontinued item and delaying an order 3x past the promised timeline is not a "rare occasion"; it is a total operational failure.
2. The refund manipulation. Saying you processed the refund "prior to this review" is a cheap trick. You clicked a button in your system, but as a customer, I am still sitting here with zero items and zero money in my bank account. Until the funds hit my card, I am legally still waiting for my money. Your timeline gymnastics change nothing.
3. The customer service reality. I didn't call your staff useless out of malice; I called your service useless because taking weeks to reply to emails while holding a customer's money is the definition of useless. Do not hide your structural incompetence behind your team’s feelings.
You are right about one thing: you are definitely "not the right fit" for anyone who expects a professional business to respect promised deadlines and honest communication.

We’re very sorry to read about your experience and genuinely regret that it did not meet your expectations.
To clarify, one of the items in your order was unfortunately discontinued by the supplier without prior notice to us, and the other experienced an unexpected extension due to delayed production from HAY. While we do our best to keep all product information and availability fully up to date, we work with a large number of suppliers and products, and on rare occasions changes outside of our control can affect individual listings and timelines.
We also apologise if our communication felt delayed. Chloe always aims to respond as quickly and thoroughly as possible, particularly when resolving supplier issues. That said, we do feel it’s important to note that being described as “totally useless” is upsetting for the team - they are real people working hard to assist, even when situations are outside of our control.
Your refund was processed in full yesterday, prior to this review being posted. We have, however, taken your feedback on board as we continue to improve how we communicate stock changes and lead times.
While we always strive to provide a high level of service to every customer, we also recognise that we may not be the right fit for everyone. We wish you the best in finding a retailer better suited to your expectations going forward.

Incredible customer service
I received a faulty item (manufacturer’s fault) and the customer service team was absolutely incredible in helping me sort it out. They sent a replacement but the parcel was stolen, and still sent another one out. Big thank you to Chloe and team!

Good quality foldable crate
Good quality foldable crate, from recycled material. It feels sturdy.
Packaging was effective, but it could have been more eco friendly, a third of the used bubbled-wrap would have been enough :-)

We also appreciate your feedback on the packaging. It’s a bit of a balancing act for us: in the past, some items (especially the colour crates) arrived with damage when packaging was too minimal, so our warehouse team increased protection to make sure everything reaches customers in perfect condition. That said, we completely understand the importance of reducing excess materials, and your comment is genuinely helpful as we continue to refine this.
Where possible, we always encourage reusing or recycling the packaging, and we’re actively looking at ways to make this more eco-friendly going forward.
