Worth doing
Ahmed El-Basty who was my vein specialist was very friendly with a good sense of humour and along with his nurses made the actual treatment nowhere near as scarey as I had imagined it would be. It was pain free, but your legs don't look nice for quite a long time after treatment with the swelling and bruising. I had a lot done though.
Wearing the stockings for a week after is a bit of a nuisance, but necessary and do-able.
I have had my second and final check and last bit of scelotherapy and so now it's just waiting for the bruising to go completely.
The staff were lovely in Southampton and I think if you are prepared to spend the money and spare the time for your legs to not look their best while in recovery, it's definitely worth it.

I recently underwent varicose vein treatment with consultant vascular surgeon Mr Ahmed El-Basty at the Vein centre 46 The Avenue Southampton. I am extremely pleased with the care I received. From the initial consultation through to the procedure and follow-up appointments. Everything was explained clearly and professionally by Mr Ahmed El-Basty. The results have exceeded my expectations, and I have noticed a significant improvement in both the appearance oh my legs and my comfort. I would highly recommend The vein centre at 46 The Avenue Southampton.

Couldn't believe what a positive experience this has been.
Staff so reassuring and welcoming; utterly professional staff; a great outcome. I have been able to wear shorts throughout this heatwave, for the first time in many years. I would recommend the treatment to all who have varicose veins.

I received treatment at the VeinCentre…
I received treatment at the VeinCentre Southampton by Dr Nigel Hacking. All the staff at the Clinic were very pleasant and the process, from the initial assessment to the actual treatment and the follow up session, was very straightforward.
After the 1st week, I did have some concern which was quickly dealt with through the call centre and physically checked by Anna Sharrock at the Clinic which greatly reassured me; that check was without cost. 7 weeks later, I had my follow up review during which Dr Hacking did a little more work on my leg and that’s it. I’m greatly relieved to have had the treatment and very happy to recommend the Vein Centre.

Ankle Swelling
I was able to see a consultant quite quickly as I just wanted to check that the veins in my legs were not the reason for the ankle swelling so had a scan.
