Opaque and unhelpful
My business banks with RBC, and we have USD and CAD accounts there, but RBC's software and features are rather painful. So I applied to venn for an account.
Venn refused the account saying "Unfortunately, your business industry is not one that our partner banks are able to support.", and then when I asked what industry they were referring to, they refused to respond.
My business's industry is SaaS, we build a software as a service for Shopify stores. On their website they list unsupported industries, none of which apply to my business even remotely:
Weapons / military-grade security
Multi-level marketing
Pawnbrokers
Political organizations
Precious metals and stones, including diamond traders
Adult entertainment
Drug paraphernalia
Cannabis, CBD, and related products
Carbon credits, including carbon credits traders
Cryptoassets, cryptocurrencies, and virtual currencies
Gambling
Mining and extraction
Scrap metal traders

Taylor’s customer service is top notch. I had an issue with Interac, and she spent a lot of time going above and beyond to sort it out for me.

The way Canadian business banking should be done
Very responsive customer support, I was able to get someone on a weekend (wouldn't dream of that with traditional banking). The product itself is miles ahead of what you get elsewhere. CAD and USD accounts out of the box, you can create sub accounts to set aside $$ for taxes; accounting integrations, virtual cards, cashback, 2% interest on balance. Everything is just super clean, and they ship new features constantly. Did I mention everything, including application, is online, so you don't have to take time out of your day to stand around in a branch? What more can you ask for.
Incoming wires are rejected for no reason
They continuously reject my clients payments. Not once but several times and sometimes the same client sends a payment that is accepted on one month and rejected on the next, same details. This adds Friction with my clients and a cash issue for me. This happened at least a dozen times.

You know what’s better than driving to a big bank branch and standing in line? Venn support – That’s what. A million times better.

NEW account locked out after I wired $502,000- no transparency/communication.
I am a business owner with over 35 years of experience operating within traditional banking systems, and this has been one of the most concerning experiences I’ve encountered.
I was referred to Venn by a trusted colleague and existing user. Based on that recommendation, I opened a business account on March 11, 2026. On March 12, I added this individual as an administrator to assist with onboarding and initial transactions while I became familiar with the platform.
On March 22, I received a notification indicating insufficient funds, which I was advised was likely due to a subscription charge. In response, I initiated a wire transfer of $502,000 from my CIBC business account to my Venn account.
On March 25, I received confirmation that the funds had successfully arrived. Both myself and my administrator verified that the funds were visible in the account.
Later that same evening, my administrator attempted to log in and was locked out. The following morning, I attempted access and was also locked out.
We immediately contacted Venn support and received no response for several days. On March 30, I finally received a response stating that the account was under “compliance review.” Since that communication, there has been no further update, explanation, or timeline provided.
It has now been over a week with no meaningful communication, while $502,000 remains inaccessible.
Adding to the concern, my colleague who is an existing Venn user, experienced account restrictions around the same time and was subsequently informed that their account would be closed, with a 15-business-day delay to return funds.
At this point, the primary concern is not just the restriction itself, but the complete lack of transparency and communication from Venn while a significant amount of business capital is being held.
I am currently pursuing resolution through formal channels and hope this matter is addressed promptly.
