Just had an assessor attend to look at my van, originally offered £1000 online, they knew it was a 21 year old van with issues, but after looking round, checking and taking for a test drive (wish I had had the opportunity to go too), don’t know where he went or what he did. Came back, spoke to his manager and offered me £400 due to it not being without fault, err you knew this and yes it’s an old van. Said couldn’t go any higher, told him I would accept £800 at a push, didn’t want to ring manager back, I persisted and he came back with final offer of £600 which I reluctantly accepted as I want it off my drive and money towards a new one. Although the assessor seemed polite and friendly, I was a little concerned (as a single woman of a certain age) how the conversation went and he started asking me who I lived with and did I go away in the camper on my own. I questioned this with him and he apologised saying he was just being friendly, but in my mind he was checking to see if there was “a man” around in the hope that I wouldn’t know what I was talking about and would accept what I was told. Although having accepted the lower offer, because I didn’t want further stress advertising it myself, the process left me feeling very unhappy and uneasy.

They shouldn’t bother offering a price for your vehicle! I was given a price they were “happy” to pay based off of the very basic information I gave about my van. Some guy arrives, takes it for a drive and decides they won’t even take it! Thanks for a waste of both of our time.
