After moving to Germany, I ran into shipping problems with orders for my customers in the US. For quite a while, I couldn't figure out how to organize the logistics in a way that would keep delivery both fast and reasonably priced. Then I happened to discover that Western Bid has its own warehouse in Miami, and that completely solved the problem for me.

Now all of my orders are shipped from their US warehouse, which means my customers receive them much faster, and I was able to continue running my store without worrying about shipping.

I'm really grateful to the Western Bid team for providing this service. If I had one suggestion, it would be to put more effort into getting the word out. I only found out about the company by chance, and I'm sure there are many other sellers in a similar situation who would benefit from knowing about it.

Ich habe eine seltene Sammlerfigur ("Dwarf Iron Guard") von einem Verkäufer aus der Ukraine gekauft. Das Problem dabei war Folgendes: Obwohl PayPal in der Ukraine grundsätzlich funktioniert, können Verkäufer dort offenbar keine kommerziellen Zahlungen von Käufern darüber entgegennehmen – zumindest nicht direkt auf ihr eigenes Konto. Deshalb lief die Transaktion über Western Bid, das als "Merchant of Record" auftritt. Ich habe die Zahlung also ganz normal per PayPal geleistet, nur eben auf das Konto von Western Bid und nicht direkt an den Verkäufer in der Ukraine. Ehrlich gesagt war ich zunächst etwas skeptisch, weil mir dieser Name vorher nicht bekannt war – man sollte ja generell vorsichtig sein, wenn auf der Rechnung eine andere Firma als der eigentliche Verkäufer steht.

Am Ende ist aber alles reibungslos verlaufen. Die Zahlung ging problemlos durch, und die Figur kam nach 7 Tagen bei mir an – für mich überraschend schnell, wenn man bedenkt, dass sich die Ukraine derzeit im Kriegszustand befindet und die Logistik dort nicht einfach sein kann. Die Verpackung war in Ordnung, es gab keine Beschädigungen.

Was ich mir gewünscht hätte: etwas mehr Information im Voraus darüber, dass beim Verkäufer ein "Merchant of Record" eingebunden ist, bevor man die Zahlung vornimmt – das hätte die anfängliche Unsicherheit genommen. Nachdem ich mich aber kurz darüber informiert hatte, was dieses Modell bedeutet, war ich beruhigt.

Für alle, die wie ich einen Verkäufer aus der Ukraine unterstützen möchten und sich fragen, wie eine Zahlung per PayPal überhaupt funktionieren kann, wenn der Verkäufer selbst kein PayPal-Geschäftskonto nutzen kann: Es funktioniert – man muss nur wissen, dass ein "Merchant of Record" wie Western Bid dabei die Rolle des Verkäufers übernimmt.

The Western Bid fulfillment center in Miami handles the storage and shipping of my products throughout the U.S. The operations are well-organized, the support team responds quickly, and packages are shipped the same day. There have been a few critical situations over the course of our partnership, but each time I received an appropriate response, and they’re always ready to help. The item was defective and had to be sent back from the EU to the US. Instead of providing clear instructions or taking responsibility as a professional logistics provider, the process was unnecessarily complicated and shifted entirely onto the customer.

Key issues:

No proactive support or clear guidance for international returns

Responsibility pushed back to the customer despite clear documentation

Slow, generic communication instead of concrete solutions

Lack of accountability when acting as an intermediary for US sellers

As a logistics company, Western Bid should understand international returns, customs procedures, and customer protection requirements. In this case, they acted more like a passive mailbox than a professional logistics partner.

I would not recommend using Western Bid if you expect reliable support or responsibility handling in cross-border transactions.
