Incredible whale shark expedition
I was expecting a good day, but I got one of the best! I have been on many safaris and this was by far the best one I have been to! The whale shark expedition was just incredible. Volker and the crew was very helpful, professional, but above all, made us feel like we were more like friends than customers.
Special mentions to Volker for being the perfect expedition leader. The guy had a way with crowds few of us has. He could tell story after story, joke after joke landing one after another, with the only downside being that my cheeks now hurt from all the laughing and smiling. He kept spirits high and excitement in the air while we still were searching for the whale shark. The expedition had a storybook ending. Just as we thought that we would miss out on the whale sharks and return back to shore Emil, the pilot found one and we dashed full speed towards it, knowing that the whale could submerge and disappear from sight at any time. We got to the shark, jumped in the water like instructed and got to see the magnificent shark from incredibly close distance. It was a magical moment, swimming side-by-side with the largest fish on this planet. A moment I will remember the rest of my life. While on the boat and in the sea we felt safe all the time, knowing that the divers on the crew: Alex and Chris would see to it that everything goes smoothly. The fresh fruits and water served on the boat were very welcome after swimming with the whale shark and the dolphins (yes we saw and got to swim with dolphins as well!!).
A big thank you to the crew, all of you! And a big recommendation to all adventurous, nature-loving, travelers like myself; do yourself a favour and add Volker's whale shark expedition to your must do list when visiting Kenya. You will thank me later for this one.
