Have been buying from what records for many years now and must say I can’t fault them , this independent record store always goes above and beyond when it comes to orders, I pre ordered a boxset a few months ago and then I realised I would be on holiday when it was released so I called them to ask if they could hold it back for me until I got back this was done with the minimum of fuss and was delivered today as I requested, great service, excellent communication, expertly packaged and always at a great price, many thanks to Tim and all at what records always a five star service

Ordered Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary box set on Thurs 26/03/2026 at 11am. It was delivered to my home on Friday 27/03/2026 at 10.30am. I am truly impressed with this service, plus it was £35 less than the official band site.
I have been using What Records for a few years now, with multiple orders and have no complaints. However this order was exceptional in the delivery timescale, so well done What Records.

I placed an order with this company and made payment through PayPal on the 1st of March. I received an order confirmation and then received no further communication. No tracking number, no notification that the item I ordered was out of stock and no offer of a refund. I checked the website and the item I had ordered was marked ‘out of stock’. Raised this with PayPal and there was no communication from this seller at all and in the end PayPal refunded me as there was no response at all from the seller so I would strongly advise anyone considering placing an order with this ‘company’ to either use PayPal or a credit card so they can recover their funds. Reading other reviews I was not the only person to experience this so I wish I had read the reviews before placing the order.

I bought a Bon Jovi record for Mother's Day for my mum, and I’m so impressed with how smooth and simple the whole experience was. The ordering process was easy, and the price was very competitive. Communication was clear, and the record arrived much faster than I expected. It was packaged securely with care.

The record itself was in excellent shape, exactly as described. No scratches, and the sleeve looked fantastic. When my mum opened it, she was absolutely thrilled. She’s been a Bon Jovi fan for years, and seeing her reaction made the purchase feel even more special. We played it together that evening and the sound quality was brilliant.

I’ll definitely be ordering from them again, and I’d happily recommend them to anyone looking for quality records and trustworthy service.

Recently purchased a Jamiroquai Double LP for my Mum (mother's day) and I could not believe the price! I hadn't found a copy of this for less than £20 anywhere else, let alone a SEALED copy! The transaction was so easy and it has now arrived just two days after ordering. I am blown away by this service and will now be regularly buying from them. 5 stars isn't enough. Thank you guys! You have another long standing customer!!!!

Bought an LP from what records went to sign in to my account to see how my order doing to find had bee blocked from account and could not sign in. Been dealing with this company for some years excuses used on several occasions avoid better of using a reputable company and not a fly by night

I do buy/collect a lot of music, mainly vinyl. I've purchased several items from Tim at What Records over the years, especially SDE box sets etc, and never had any issues. I've not visited their site for a while until recently I saw a limited edition LP I fancied that was sold out everywhere and asked Tim if he could source a copy. Tim even remembered me. In the short meantime, I decided to upgrade my choice to the SDE box of the same title instead and emailed Tim after normal office hours. Tim had the best price too and despatched the box the following day, arriving the next by DPD. Excellently packaged. I've always found communication with Tim very easy and responsive, like chatting to a friend in a local record store (pity those days are gone in my part of the country). I often try and search for items at independent retailers and not always go for the obvious big boys option.... you'll frequently find a better deal or a hard to find item, just show a little patience sometimes. What Records are one of the best I've dealt with. Tim even has a loyalty program with discounts.

Despite the mixed reviews, I gave What Records a chance (especially as they offered the best price on the vinyl I was after) and had a (mostly) decent experience.

The record was ordered on the 6th of Jan, and I'd had no update as of the 16th of Jan. The order was still "processing" on the order page. I decided to contact them and Tim got back to me 2 days later, the order was shipped 4 days later, and was with me 6 days later (22nd January).

So it was a bit of a lengthy process, but Tim was responsive via email and the vinyl game in perfect condition, and I can't score them down too harshly on the wait time, as the record was very reasonably priced.

My advice to What Records: be more transparent with your updates and wait times. They seem like a good little business that is getting held back on unclear messaging and cloudy statuses. Fix that and I'll definitely use them again.

I’m honestly not surprised by some of the negative reviews. I ordered a vinyl in November and received no updates until I chased them myself. I was told it was a supplier issue, which is fair, but it still took until January, and a further email, to get a refund. Customers shouldn’t be able to order vinyls that aren’t actually in stock. Poorly managed and needs serious improvement.

I've been buying from them for years now. Ther's been the odd hiccup along the way. Unable to fulfill an order and I've accepted an alternative. This time I ordered on 6 Dec for Christmas. I heard nothing so I contacted them. 2 of the items were out of stock, turns out the 3rd one was too. They refunded me. I was then told at beginning of Jan that they had got more stock of the first 2 and that the 3rd wasn't out of stock. I decided to reorder 2 of the items and a new 3rd one. Tim said he would hold 2 and he'd check if the new 3rd one was in stock and get back to me. He hasn't and is now avoiding responding to my emails. I feel very let down and despite the reasonable prices i won't be ordering in future. Graham.

Shipping time was acceptable, but I was sent the wrong record (269724). Very disappointed, and no response to emails to try and resolve.
Edit: Emails were responded to, and a refund has been sorted as issue with producer. Customer service is good, shame that the initial product was out of stock. Not their fault, ultimately.

My first couple of orders from What records uk went really well. It was encouraging and exciting to find a business which could provide exactly what they advertised at reduced prices compared to others. Unfortunately this did not last.

As others have remarked, this business does not stock what it advertises. Additionally encountered excuses about industry catalogue changes making copies hard to get hold of and carrot dangling - while prices were raised on the very same issues the following week. Don't bother unless you want to be frequently disappointed by goods which never seem to materialize. The only good thing about their service was a fairly quick refund (after waiting several weeks for my order status to change). WhatrecordsUK just do not keep customers updated ime which meant I missed out on other offers, from other vendors. Lessons learned, will no longer use and advise others not bother. It is also telling that this business reports negative reviews using petty Trust pilot policy infringements, to disguise an unreliable and disappointing service (in my experience).

Fantastic, delivered the next day having only payed for standard delivery, prices are the cheapest out there. Will be buying from them again!

Misleading stock information on website, no proactive communication - over priced postage

Order - 269159 Over £6 for delivery and item still 'preparing' 6 days after ordering, no idea what the hold up is. It's also an Xmas present so getting a bit nervous. Wish Id gone elsewhere would just prefer a refund tbh.

16.12.25 Update, I asked for refund by email on 15th and ordered the item elsewhere, no response to my email request yet

Can't recommend What records enough. Everytime I place an order the items are the cheapest online for Vinyl and are always packed with great care. Very quick turnaround from order to delivery. Very happy once again. Thank you Tim. 👍
