Useless Action Fraud !
I was sent a solicitors letter from a troublesome neighbour. I checked on the Solicitors registration website and found that the solicitor who signed this letter was David Ward KC - this solicitor died in 1949 and there is no other solicitor of that name. The letter came from a company called Orwell’s consultancy who ceased to exist in 2002. After Action Fraud, allegedly, worked on this for 28 days they concluded there wasn’t enough evidence to convict as it was a case of identity theft. I phoned the police and was told identity theft is when someone steals your personal identity not when someone writes a letter pretending to be someone else. There is no way to review my case, there is no one to write to at Action Fraud and when I went back to their website to complain my account had been disabled. Totally useless exercise . You can see by other reviews what a success they are!
Absolutely useless
Luckily I do not live in the UK, otherwise I wouldn’t feel protected at all against financial crimes: I have reported an attempted fraud made from an UK based company but ofc - as other thousands people already have written here - the report was closed with the usual sentence. It’s embarrassing. Good luck to whoever will get scammed in the UK, because no justice will be done.
Absolutely useless
Reported an obvious Microsoft tech support scam with phone number of scammer. ActionFraud emailed back five minutes later saying no crime committed. What is the point of this useless organisation?
Excellent service with great advice
Excellent service-helped me make statement, advised me on the best course of action & followed up. I am pleased to say that my money taken illegally from my bank account was fully refunded
Exposed to a Scam, Ignored by the System
I’ve just been scammed. I paid cash for a spoofed, fake Samsung tablet from a fraudster after we met outside the entrance of a Tesco store. I realized I’d been scammed just two minutes after he left and called the police immediately.
If they wanted to act, they could have checked the CCTV, the fraudster could easily be identified and caught. He must have been nearby, as he arrived only two minutes after I told him I had arrived.
This must be part of a bigger scam operation. The tablet isn’t just fake, the tablet is designed to steal personal credentials and send it to some server run by hackers.
But instead of taking any immediate action, the police simply told me to report the scam through a link. I received an automated email afterwards, and that was the end of it.
It’s a shame that my huge amount of tax money goes toward a system that does nothing in situations like this.
Action Fraud and poor actions to control fraud
I reported scam and as much evidence I could in the space given on platform to action fraud.
I received same outcome/letters for each scam I reported. Despite I lost £10k or £100k.
¬`Experts at the NFIB examine the information you provide. Where possible, the information is also matched against other available data in order to enrich and corroborate the details of the fraud. The NFIB assess whether there are viable lines of enquiry that would enable a law enforcement body, such as the police service, to investigate. On this occasion, based on the information currently available, it has not been possible to identify a line of enquiry which a law enforcement organisation in the United Kingdom could pursue`.
It prevaled scam.
I contacted Action fraud directly and I asked to update me on my cases that i reported. I was informed that i reported wrongly. The agent offerd to help, correct my evedince provided during the time the call cut off, I tried to call back but no success to speak to anyone. I received no request for evidence or extra information and no update for months, except auto respond/letter that my each case was closed.
The trust in authorities has fade and scammers/fraud are blooming.
What a waste of time?
I found Cayman Islands Bureau of Financial Investigation Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is more active, swift to respond and support towards fraud.
Useless…
Useless couldn’t log in so I emailed and asked for support. Having had no joy I then rang them where I was advised the old phone number had been removed and new one added but 2 weeks later it’s still showing the old number. I tried the contact us section and in the end sent them an email to which I received the snotty reply they were waiting on me confirming my details. Up to this point I’d had zero communication so I emailed back with the details and still had no joy. Wouldn’t waste my time reporting anything to these as they don’t care
Waste of my time even contacting them
Waste of my time even contacting them! Clearly had their mind already made up! They dont like the hassle of trying to help victims of fraud! I
Complete was of time and effort Action Fraud
Complete was of time and effort, VAT fraud totally ignored, clear line of banking fraud shown but no further details requested from action fraud, apparently there is no line of enquiry (based on limited information they requested), with time delay totally not fit for purpose and fraudsters can rest assured no action will be taken.
Action Fraud-useless.
Action Fraud-useless.
I wasted my time trying to report a bunch of scamming scumbags called XR Academy. Action fraud said they couldn’t investigate as they are not in the UK. Where the hell do action fraud think most scams are originating from.
Action Fraud are a complete waste of time and tax payers valuable money.
They should just be shut down as they don’t appear to be of any use whatsoever
Sadly it has been a complete waste of time
We served on a platter a theft case as we investigated ourselves when someone stole an item from us. We provided the name and multiple addresses of the criminal and their online profile. Moreover we logically explained how the theft was carried out.
For a whole month there was no update to our case when on the last day, right before the bank holiday (how convenient), a templated email came past 6pm to say that there is no viable lines of enquiry ...
We pay taxes for an unreliable and broken police system! What a shame really.
These people are fraudsters themselves!
These people are fraudsters themselves!
I recieved a letter with National Fraud Intelligence Bureau logo on heading but it was actually from actionfraud. This is dishonest to use the NFID header when the letter is not from them.
Secondly the letter was about a fraud report I made. Nope, I have not made any report to actionfraud or NFID of any kind.
Looks like a phishing scam, avoid.
Action fraud deleted my report when…
Action fraud deleted my report when obviously shouldn’t had done they didn’t send it over for investigation when obviously they should had there a complete waste of time They need disbanding and back to old fashioned Police reporting at your local police . Millions spen for nothing
Don't waste time reporting a problem to…
Don't waste time reporting a problem to them they take ages to get back to you they don't even ask if you do have evidence of what happened. Just do yourself a favour and figure out how you will solve the problem by yourself
This is a complete waste of time
This is a complete waste of time! I had the defrauders communicating with me and I strung them along hoping that someone would get in touch and be able to apprehend the felons. 28 days to consider whether it's worth it? Criminals must be laughing at us law-abiding, tax paying folk who fund this joke. I used these guys 10 years ago for another issue and nothing has changed NOTHING!
Kind and understanding staff
Was so scared to report as just buried my head in the sand, being older and embarrassed that I have been a victim of a bank scam I just wanted to run away and hide in shame but the lovely lady at action fraud (Nicola I think she was called) was so understanding and empathic and gave me some great advice, she made me feel like i should have phoned sooner and had nothing to be a shamed about!! Jsut wanted to say thank you to her for putting my mind to rest.
It takes forever to set up the account
It takes forever to set up the account. Its terrible and complete waste of time. I'm getting calls and mobile text plus emails claiming to be a debt advisory charity. I'm looking at my phone in the morning and discovering text and voice mail happening during the night. Its been going on the months. The only advise they gave me was contact them and check my credit report, (I have nothing on my report), that as good as it gets.
What a waste of time
What a waste of time!
Took me an eternity to set up an account. Apparently my sky email address isn’t good enough!
Took me an hour just to set up an account so I could report unauthorised use of my CC where goods had been purchased from Amazon UK.
Amazon would know where the goods were delivered etc so enquiries could be made etc.
I report the fraud and received a reply from Inaction Fraud saying “on this occasion the matter you reported to us cannot be classified as a police recorded crime”.
So someone using another persons CC without authority is not a crime? Absolute joke and a way the government and Police get away with doing nothing!
No wonder the cost of living is going through the roof and the public pay for this rubbish service.
Don’t bother reporting to Inaction Fraud because all you’ll get is a crime number. 🙄
A waste of time
I took me a while to find this service. I reported my case - a debt collection company who collected a debt for me and has kept my money - and after some time I received a reference number. After a considerable amount of time I was told they wouldn't be taking the matter further, despite many others out there who are also victims of these criminals. I used to be a big supporter of the police but it seems their priorities are wrong these days and don't include catching actual criminals.
Action Fraud is spectacularly useless
Action Fraud is spectacularly useless. I tried to report a scam website, selling fake dehumidifiers. The singularly stupid Scottish woman at the other end simply denied that this was fraud.
