They use the "bait and switch" tactic
They use the "bait and switch" tactic. I purchased an international ticket that had a 2 hour layover. I paid more for this because I didn't want a long layover. The flight was changed so it had an 11 layover instead. When I contacted customer service they assured me they were fixing it and would send me the new itinerary that was agreed upon over the phone. After about two months of them telling me "not to worry" and they would "make sure I was taken care of" and "just give us a couple of days so another department could issue it" my flight time was coming up. They did nothing, didn't care and never got me a new flight. I had to purchase a new one way ticket that cost more than the original round trip.
Not only does this company have piss poor customer service, but they advertise support for military and veterans travel arrangements which are false, fraudulent and not backed up with any integrity or anything but they're own best interests.
Hotel they recommened was A DUMP
Hotel they recommened was A DUMP. Trash everywhere, bullet holes in window of room next to us. Dirty sheets and pillowcases, ripped carpet. Left the room 2 days early, got an email authorising a refund but have not seen it yet.
They are a disgrace to the military using them.
I used American Forces Travel for the…
I used American Forces Travel for the last time July 2026 and had a horrible experience.
I booked a hotel stay through them to find out that after my stay, the hotel still charged me a resort fee a third of the price of the hotel bill.
Then the flight through AFT I booked and paid extra for comfort canceled my comfort seat without telling me.
When I contacted AFT for a refund I was told me to go through the airline. Of course the airline told me to go through AFT.
It’s cheaper booking online on your own.
I have used this site twice and twice I have had issues. Beware!
I am commenting here because Customer…
I am commenting here because Customer Service has been giving me a run around for two days. You should never utilize this service. We were recommended a stay in an extremely unsafe area, with a severely damaged room that was unfit to stay in. We have been trying to get answers and just a refund. They have transferred us from one person to another saying they were going to call us back, or send us an email update. None of which has been fulfilled. Speaking with another team member this morning they talked in circles. For example, they said they were going to send me an email breakdown of all of the information I need, in addition to their manager’s info, so in case they do not get back to us we have an ability to call them. I made the representative stay on the line with me while it was sent, and he proceeded to email with none of the information promised I then had to ask him to send an email with the information again, and all of the information was still not provided. He then made the decision for us to disconnect the call because it was ”unproductive”. At this point, I recommend a site like Expedia instead. This is unacceptable.
American Forces Travel is a booking…
American Forces Travel is a booking platform handled by priceline for eligible U.S. military members, veterans, and their families. It is a third-party booking company so it is harder to resolve problems. The customer service representative are not native english speakers, they are difficult to work with, they do not have management staff available to resolve issues. The customer service department was unprofessional/rude with us and our hotel check in staff.
From my experience, the interface is fairly straightforward, and the eligibility verification process is quick.
Their star rating system of hotels is not reliable. Some hotels are very bad and others are great but they have the same star rating.
We have had multiple reservations that were cancelled by their system or the hotel was not paid even though we paid the booking fee.
However, there are some drawbacks worth noting. Customer service is poor, with difficulty resolving booking issues. The cancellation and refund policies are also strict. The advertised discounts are not the lowest price available.
Pros:
Some military discounts on travel
Easy eligibility verification
Cons:
Poor customer service experiences
Strict cancellation/refund policies
Not the lowest price
Bottom line:
American Forces Travel can be a great resource for military families looking to research trips. Definitely double-check prices. This type of disrespect for armed forces service should not be supported.
Used American Forces Travel for car rental
Used American Forces Travel for car rental. The vehicle pick up was fine but drop of abysmal. No representative on duty, although sign posted the office was open. Called, but no answer and no response. Rang the Ring doorbell, no response. Since we had a flight to catch we left the car key under the floor mat. Guess what? They charged us the security deposit for doing so! Efforts to resolve with the American Forces Travel representative were fruitless. "Quoth the Raven"!
Really Bad customer service
Where do I start? If I was able to leave a negative 1 for this company/site. I would. Long story short, I booked my hotel stay with this company for the weekend of June 18-21. My flight from Baton Rouge Louisiana was delayed and delayed and finally canceled to Atlanta due to weather issues. I called them the same night and explained the situation. I had to call 4 more times, and on the 4th time, they representative hung up in my face due to having the hotel on the phone trying to rectify the situation. I called back a 5th time and it was the same thing. I have used them in the past, but will never use them again. I am out of 900+ dollars and now have a sour taste in my mouth due this company's nasty employees.
I would not book with American Forces…
I would not book with American Forces Travel which is poweredby priceline.com. They are not affiliated with the US service despite their name. Buyer beware. Between four phone calls to AFT and a total of four hours on hold, I have yet to receive a refund for the $365.48 I was charged, or the headache of standing there in line at the hotel after a long day of travel that I thought was paid for and taken care of.
If you book with them, it will seem legit. You will receive an email with a confirmation number from American Forces Travel/Priceline, but when you arrive at the hotel, the hotel will have no record of the reservation. In many cases the booking will sit with a third-party wholesaler and never transmit correctly to the hotel. The only way to contact them is by phone. You will be put on hold as they “contact their partner.” But this will never happen. You will feel helpless.
Recommend booking directly with the hotel or airline and save yourself a huge vacation tragedy.
Never use AFT or priceline.com.
Needed to cancel reservation
Needed to cancel reservation. They wouldn't provide even a partial reservation. WILL NEVER USE 5HEM AGAIN TO BOOK TRAVEL. THEY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY. BE WARNED.
Exploiting US Veterans
★☆☆☆☆
I booked a hotel through American Forces Travel, which is operated by Priceline, and had one of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered.
This was not a cancellation. My wife and I checked in, entered the room, and attempted to use the accommodations we paid for. We encountered excessive noise from other guests, what appeared to be black mold in the bathroom area, and evidence consistent with bedbugs.
Before asking for a refund, we requested to be moved to a different room. The hotel refused. The problems continued. We then requested a refund and were ultimately removed from the property.
The entire encounter was recorded on video.
Afterward, Motel 6 Corporate informed me that information entered into the hotel's internal system prevented them from assisting me or reviewing the complaint. When I contacted Priceline through American Forces Travel, I expected someone to review the facts. Instead, Priceline repeatedly treated the matter as a cancellation dispute.
I never cancelled.
I checked in, occupied the room, requested a room change, reported concerns, and was removed from the property.
Priceline was informed that:
* We checked in.
* We requested a room change.
* The room change was denied.
* We were removed from the property.
* The entire encounter was recorded on video.
Despite this, Priceline continued to rely on cancellation policies rather than addressing whether the lodging services purchased were actually provided.
As a disabled combat veteran, I used American Forces Travel because it is marketed as a benefit for veterans and military families. Unfortunately, my experience suggests that when problems arise, you are dealing with a third-party booking company that may be more interested in enforcing policies than investigating facts.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Priceline or American Forces Travel.
They lived up to their reputation
They lived up to their reputation. When I initially booked my cruise, I was NOT told that travel insurance was optional and was told I had to pay it upfront. I was also told that if I cancelled my cruise in advance, I would get a full refund. However, no mention of the travel insurance being non refundable. They are not worth your effort. I feel like I got a bait and switch done and not happy about losing almost $400 bucks!
Do not use American Forces Travel
Do not use American Forces Travel. In the end you will find that the amount of headache dealing with customer service is not worth the couple dollars (if any) you save on travel. I have used their service twice and encounted massive resistance and heartache both times. They basically use Priceline as their booking agent and with them being a third party, you have not options for any problems you may encounter with rooms or other options you booked. My experience was a hotel in Florence, SC (Comfort Inn and Suites). The rooms were disgusting. Hair in the beds. Hair ties in the beds. Beds were made but linen was unchanges. Trash cans full. Floors filthy. Bathrooms unclean (hair on shower walls and tun basin). Key cards would not work. Hotel management was absent 100% of the time. When I contacted American Forces Travel (5-6 times) I explained my terrible experience. I was told on each call that I would receive a call back with some resolution. I never received any calls or coorespondence until they finally disapproved any compensation for our miserable stay. I was lied to by first line call personel as well as "supervisors" who assured me my concerns were excalated but in the mean time, here is a 20% coupon for my next travel. I will never use American Forces Travel again or Priceline. An absolute horror story of an experience. Trust me, they do not care about you, your family, or your travel nightmare.
The last time that I reserve a hotel…
The last time that I reserve a hotel using a third party. Our flights were changed so we needed to move our hotel. I called Priceline/american forces travel 3 separate times to try and do this. They claimed that they "called the hotel" and that I would be emailed with the changes. When I called the hotel to confirm they said no such a claim had been made and that I could not do it, it HAD to come from Priceline/american forces travel.
For a company specifically trying to help veterans/military, they did an absolute crap job.
The hindu people answering they are…
The hindu people answering they are mean and bad service doesn't resolve any issue . I'm from other country and I felt that it is a spam . They have advantange from you. You are paying more .
I want to share my experience with American Forces Travel
I want to share my experience with American Forces Travel so others can make an informed decision.
I booked a hotel reservation through their website and, due to a schedule conflict, needed to cancel the same day. My cancellation was well within the terms of their stated cancellation policy. To make sure everything was handled properly, I called their customer service directly. The representative verbally confirmed that my reservation had been cancelled, and I relied on that confirmation.
Unfortunately, the cancellation was never processed, and my credit card was later charged for the full amount.
When I contacted American Forces Travel to resolve the issue, they stated they had no record of my call. I provided my Verizon phone records showing the exact date and time of my calls, but they still denied ever receiving them and would not take responsibility.
What is most disappointing is the lack of accountability and trust. If I had missed the cancellation window, failed to call, or simply not shown up, I would accept the charge. But being told directly that the reservation was cancelled — and then being charged anyway — reflects very poorly on their customer service and internal processes.
I served in the military my entire career, and this was my first time using a travel service that markets specifically to military personnel. Based on this experience, I do not recommend booking through American Forces Travel and would strongly advise others to proceed with caution. I would not trust their customer service or rely on verbal confirmations.
This experience felt dishonest and has completely eroded my confidence in doing business with them again.

I used AFT recently and I learned they use the Priceline platform. My recent experience wasn't great. The airline made an unexpected change to our travel and from that point on it was a disaster. They charged fees for every little change you make even if it was the airlines fault. I ended spending about $600 dollars more for the change of airline tickets. I don't plan to use AFT ever again. I believe they don't look out for veterans even AFT is suppose to be use as a travel tool do veterans.
Worse company ever miltary stay away!!
Worse company ever miltary stay away!!! Waste of money and time! Wish I would have seen the reviews before I added this to my trip! Had to shorten my trip and info they asking for is ridiculous! Clearly if I left early it was for a good reason! Especially where I was! Scam
0 stars here When I made hotel…
0 stars here When I made hotel reservation, i missed it was through priceline. SHAME ON ME!!!
Credit card showed charge for nov. 4th, should have been for nov. 9th. Also showed wrong city for hotel . I disputed the charge because of the errors on my credit card statement
I owe the charge i attempted to contact priceline. You cannot speak to a live human being. Better luck talking ro the devil!!!
If the credit card charge had been charged to rhe correct date and city of hotel there would be no dispute
Armed forces travel made this veteran look like an idiot to my credit card company I had not used priceline for several years because of them ripping me off!!
Stay away from Armed forces travel for hotels you can do better booking through choice hotels, (ie) as a leisure veteran
Actual hotel room not as booked through AFT
I called the hotel to confirm the actual room booked through Armed Forces Travel and found it was a 1 Queen bed room instead of a 2 Queen Bed minisuite that I booked and retained printed documentation. Upon calling AFT customer service, they could not resolve it with their booking agent, so upchanneled within Priceline to resolve in a few days through e-mail. I continued to be disconnected and could not resolve, so I cancelled the hotel reservation--too much trouble.
Cancellation policy is ridiculous
Cancellation policy is ridiculous, you only have 24 hours to cancel otherwise lose your money.
I tried ro cancel a reservation 3 months and could not do it lost $89.00.
I feel that Department of the Navy or Defense should investigate all reviews and act. Personally I get better prices going direct.
