The wife’s CC has been hacked to pay a membership she didn’t take out. We are now investigating how long it has been going on for, as the company have no viable contact information and the credit card company seem to be aware of the problem are are being very evasive. Clearly this highlights checking your statement every month for strange activities. Or, be doubly careful with online shopping sites and their indemnity.
I cannot cancel this subscription
I cannot cancel this subscription. The telephone number provided when you go to cancel subscription cuts you off 0800 345 7920. I have tried calling my bank to cancel, contacting Archives.com online and I can't get into the account to no avail - I'm now going to OFCOM.
They fabricate search records
They fabricate records to get you to sign up with your credit card. Try it, it would be funny if it didn't trap people into handing over credit card details.
I entered the name..
'Spanbuxcacci Grafyusdry Fsdesttru'
It came up with

Avoid at all costs

Was about to sign up, but thankfully checked the reviews from others and decided it was a scam website.
I would give the no stars if I could
I would give the no stars if I could. They charged me $50 and I have no idea why. I don't have an account with them. I have sent numerous email since the beginning of June trying to get my money back. I get an auto reply from their "Internet Support Team" each time I send an email. I guess I'm going to have to have my credit card cancelled so they no longer have my info.

I signed up for a free trial and emailed someone to cancel and they charged me anyway. Also, there was a newspaper.com trial tagged onto the free trial for archives.com that I was not aware of and was charged over $70 total for services I never used. Archives.com doesn't even offer a way for their paying customers to cancel their subscription...the only way to cancel is via email. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE
This a scam!
This a scam!! I signed up and cancelled within 15 mins and they charged me anyway.
Archives.com is a scam
Archives.com is a scam. Their information is basically what you can find on Google. I have had much better results on White Pages than Archives.com. By the way I did a search on myself and I was not on their website and I am 46 years old and been in California all my life. Do not give them your credit card number.

I e-mailed and called to cancel my account and I was still charged!!! FRAUD ALERT!!!!! There e-mails say they have no account under that e-mail address and say do you have another e-mail you used? NO!!!!! I have one!!!! When you call it’s all computers no real people!!!!
It isn't free at all
It isn't free at all. This is misleading, they say it is free, as soon as you search they take you to a page to enter credit card information for a 7 day free trial, after which they start charging you. Organisations like this should be made to be honest in their marketing
Zero acknowledgement from customer service
I thought I'd canceled the free Newspapers.com trial that I'd signed up for via my Archives free trial; it turns out that I hadn't and was alarmed when a charge for $49.95 popped up on my phone. "Fair enough", I thought, "the charge was made just now, so I'll immediately contact customer service and get it straightened out within a day or two". First I messaged Newspapers customer support, who directed me to Archives customer support. It's been nearly a week (and three requests for help on my end) and Archives has yet to dignify any of these messages with a response, let alone a refund. This is the first time in my life that I've ever publicly complained about any business, but to be completely and repeatedly ignored over an issue like this is ridiculous and unethical. YMMV but for anyone like me who considers $50 a considerable chunk of change, avoid Archives.com because once they take your money, that's apparently the last you'll see of it. There's no option to delete your credit card info from their site either, so this is something else to keep in mind before entrusting them with it.

thieves
thieves, steal money for a useless free trial which they don't even have info for I used it ONCE and it cost me £8.95 (GBP).
nightmare to cancel have to send a request instead of just clicking cancel. THERE IS ALSO NO OPTION TO REMOVE YOUR CARD DETAILS.
THIEVES, SCAMMERS AND FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS. I PROMISE I WILL ENSURE THIS SITE IS SHUT DOWN.

Rip off merchants. Avoid!!!
I emailed within the five day cut-off period to say that I did not want to continue my subscription (the site was not suitable for my research) and guess what? Archives took the money anyway. Blatant thievery.

Waste of time
Con you by announcing free search; however to view items you must sign up for a 7 day trial and provide ccard information which after the trial you are charged. Annoying and time wasting!

Archive.com: Archiving your Money and Archiving your complaint
I used Archive.com 7 day free trial, oh what a mistake that was. I cancelled the free trial within the defined period yet 2 months later found that Archive.com were debiting monthly payments from my account. I challenged them on this and Suzanne from customer service chose not to even respond to my several contacts. I've had to press a credit card charge-back for the unauthorised payments which my credit card company tell me can take several weeks. I'm really disappointed with the service Archives.com provide and recommend YOU avoid them before they archive your money!
