Was charged for the ASDA MOT (£35) and again for a garage MOT (£54) when they couldn't find the booking. MOT passed but got an advisory for something unnecessary. MOT took 90 minutes longer than advised on arrival, resulting in a time-related penalty charge (£80). Garage then sent a second MOT certificate with a different date corresponding to the booking they had been unable to find (not the date they had completed the MOT). Made countless calls and emails chasing the refund for the ASDA MOT, previously authorised by a manager, which never materialised.
A year later, the garage WhatsApped me to remind me to book my MOT with them. 🤣😡🙊
Awful
Awful. Communication takes hours for anything to get done. Cheap MOT but not for the repairs

ASDA is a terrible company I would never recommend again. The low price means the risk of fraud is incredibly high. Many unscrupulous auto repair shops will repeatedly charge you extra fees under the pretext of an MOT, and then rip you off. Always check reviews before deciding on an MOT.
Will never use Asda Motoring
We had very bad experience with our recent MOT booking through ASDA Motoring.
We booked our car for its first MOT on 05/Dec/2025 through ASDA Motoring. We bought the car in December 2022 but have only driven about 3,000 miles, so it's practically new. As we always do (we kept our last car for 11 years!), we gave the car a thorough check-over on 04/Dec, including a careful inspection of all the tyres. Everything was perfect.
Imagine our surprise when we collected the car on December 5th and were told it failed MOT, citing a deep tyre cut that definitely wasn't there when we dropped it off. We were shocked, as the only travel the car did after our checks was to the Revamp Mechanical Services garage (which was recommended by Asda Motoring).
With the MOT expiring the next day, we had no choice but to get the tyre replaced immediately. The mechanic at the new garage who fitted the replacement actually pointed out that the cut looked deliberate—a fresh, clean slice with the cords visible. This has been incredibly disheartening, and we ended up spending huge amount to replace a nearly brand-new tyre.
We chose to try ASDA Motoring for the first time as their online MOT price was £35 compared to our local trusted garage price of £54, and unfortunately, trying to save £19 on MOT costed us so much, and this experience with them and the garage has been terrible.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
AVOID AVOID AVOID . Service is terrible not garage fault they were lovely but ASDA motoring should be closed down.
This is not a business.
1 Star is not even good for this so called company.
Please do not use
ASDA Motoring (Motor Angel/ASDA…
ASDA Motoring (Motor Angel/ASDA Warranty/Motor Easy) markets its warranty as comprehensive, but my experience suggests otherwise. When you actually need to claim, the extensive "what’s not covered" section is used to deny most repairs—especially those you'd expect to be essential, like clutch or flywheel issues. The burden is on the customer to prove any fault isn’t pre-existing, and only actual failed parts are covered (recommended replacements, even if critical, are excluded)[1]. In my case, a motorway breakdown left me stranded, but my claim was still rejected on technicalities: not calling Motor Easy first, “wear and tear” exclusions, and the refusal to cover recommended associated parts. Despite long lists of “covered” components, almost any scenario can be excluded due to restrictive small print or discretionary decisions. The gap between what’s promised and what’s delivered is simply too wide for me to recommend this plan.
Absolutely Appalling Service
Absolutely Appalling Service
I booked an MOT and Air con service, which were not booked in with the garage even though I received confirmation it was, therefore when I got to the garage it couldn't take place. I have since been trying to get a refund from ASDA motoring but they do not have the care or integrity to respond to emails or telephone conversation and I am still £120 out of pocket.
Asda motoring con
Booked mot through Asda motoring little did I know you have to go by there price for repairs tyres and 2 bulbs £735 refused took car away tested somewhere else £360 with another mot fee . Never again con from start to finish . I actually usually get my tyres from the same garage even if I put top brand on wouldn’t have cost that much. Avoid at all costs you will get trapped by them 2 mot fees the cost to me never again con from. Wish I’d seen these reviews earlier
It could Zero super star
It could Zero super star. just wasting money wasting time. i never go again for mot future
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would. I paid Asda for a full interim service on my car, and the work was never done. The garage outright admitted they hadn’t serviced my car, claiming Asda never instructed them to do so—yet Asda happily took my money. To make matters worse, I highly doubt even the oil and filter change was carried out.
I contacted Asda to resolve this, as they are responsible for paying and instructing the garages. Their response? Ignoring me. I have called multiple times, wasted over half an hour explaining the situation, and have been fobbed off each time with promises that someone will get back to me. Spoiler: no one has.
The garage even had the audacity to accuse Asda of fraud, claiming they had ripped off both me and them. Frankly, I believe it. Asda has shown a complete disregard for their customers, failing to take any responsibility for the shocking level of service I have received. Their so-called “trusted garages” are anything but—they lie to your face, take your money, and leave you chasing answers you’ll never get.
I will be reporting Asda to the Motor Ombudsman and Trading Standards. They have taken my money and failed to provide the service I paid for, which is a clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act. This is not just bad customer service—it’s outright disgraceful.
Avoid Asda’s car servicing at all costs. If something goes wrong, expect zero accountability, endless frustration, and blatant dishonesty.
I would never use them again
I would never use them again. I have currently paid for the same mot and service twice because the garage could not get hold of them to get the go ahead to do the job. So the car was held at the garage until I paid for the same work again in full. I've tried getting a refund but no one will talk to me when I ring them they just pass me from department to department.
Terrible Service and Zero Accountability
Absolutely awful experience with ASDA Motoring. I booked my MOT through them, and the assigned service center, AV Autocentre, failed to complete the job. They claimed my brake pads and discs needed replacing, took my car for the entire day, and then gave me endless excuses about being "locked out" by MG's framework. In the end, they returned my car without fixing anything but still charged me for the parts and the MOT. The total amount I paid was £260, and I received nothing but wasted time and frustration.
When I contacted ASDA Motoring for a refund (as directed in their own email), I was told to contact Prestige Servicing instead. Why am I being bounced around between companies? I booked with ASDA Motoring, and I expect them to handle their services properly.
To make matters worse, it’s impossible to get through to Prestige Servicing Smartcare via their customer care number. No one answers, and it feels like they are deliberately avoiding customers. It’s been over 24 hours since I raised this complaint, and no one from Prestige Servicing has bothered to contact me or even acknowledge the issue.
This is a complete failure in customer service and an extremely disorganized operation.
Avoid ASDA Motoring at all costs. They’re quick to take your money but nowhere to be found when things go wrong.
I wish I read these reviews before I…
I wish I read these reviews before I booked car for a MOT.
I had a mot with The Plough Garage on the 19th of November and failed the mot with Nearside Rear Lower Shock absorbers has an excessively worn bush (5.3.2 (c)).
I took it to a local garage. They inspected and said it's okay. I took my car to another MOT centre and passed.
I emailed help#asdamotoring.co.uk and got a reply below.

Avoid at all cost
I used it to book an MOT for my car.
They overpriced every worked required and on top of that, their communication was so bad that I had to collect my car and take it elsewhere.
Booked a Mot
Booked a Mot, they send an email for a repair bill of £900. Included items like screen washer nozzle spray miss alignment for £50 which just needed to click back in space, pricing of repair is not transparent and expensive. It seems they are charging extra margin on top of the garages for unnecessary repairs. Other items you can’t tell if needed for Mot but had to do it to get my car back. A name like this should be trustable.
1 is lowest option
1 is lowest option. Went with 'Asda motoring' to book mot, thinking having their name behind them was safe bet.
Easy enough to book, got a random text about appointment time, tried to ring the number and it 'a no such number'?
Had to call Asda, who have to liaise with garage, spoke to two different people before they transferred me to the garage.
My Grandsons car was only serviced 4weeks ago, they said brake pads low but ok. Needed two front tyres, no issue with back. Yet, get a text from random number stating more work needs to be done. My husband rang the garage they say he needs a new tyre and brake pads, quoted over £400! They are not interested, just said to get back to Asda.
Never used them before nor will again.
I have been left in a precarius…
I have been left in a precarius position. When I was contacted by someone proportions to be from Asda motoring who changed my original MOT garage. He did not send me the address. I tried calling back on his number and was blocked. I tried sending an email but was blocked also. I went to the garage which was previously booked and the fellow there was quite apologetic but could not do MOT till the 12th. Then at 1430 I get a phone call from the 2nd garage asking why I didn't,t turn up. I said I wasn't,t given the address and would be difficult as I didn't,t have my crystal ball. I now can't drive my Merc till the 12th because I will be at the mercy of the vultures through no fault of my own. Next year I shall be paying £54.85 withe the local garage. THANKS ASDA.
This service company was very very very…
This service company was very very very bad and I recommend no one to this company. I am very angry and it delayed me for a long time to be able to pick up my car for after the mot. In general, everything was awful.
Maybe cheap MOT but not worth the hassle!
Easy booking online informing a Saturday morning MOT was available. However, getting to the garage for 08:30 after a night shift to discover the garage in darkness. On ringing the garage emergency number to find they never work on Saturdays.
Asda refunded on complaining but booking system unreliable and inconvenient.
May be cheap but go else where to avoid issues!
DO NOT USE !!
I would like to leave less than one star if I could ! I paid for an mot at a local garage from their list the evening before it was due I got a phone call to say that garage had closed down and I would need to book into a different one or get a refund, as there were no other garages near I opted for a refund. I have had no refund, I have emailed Asda motoring who direct me to Snartcare then smartcare direct me back to Asda motoring. I cannot get through on any phone numbers given just says lines are busy. I want a refund as you broke your contract, it’s disgusting DO NOT USE THESE COMPANIES !!
