What I wanted at a good price, prompt delivery and helpful driver.

Sleepers were the cheapest around and delivery scheduled 3-5 working days. I received a phone call to say that they would be delivered on day 2. And they were at 08:30am. So efficient and really good quality sleepers

The depot delivered the feather edge as soon as was possible and the driver helped move the boards into the drive, very grateful.

Ordered on line and requested a specific by delivery date.
AVS delivered as requested. Also called in to branch and was able to take a look at the type of railway sleeper I had ordered and the member of staff was very helpful with specs etc.

I recently bought some compost from my local AVS store.
As I was leaving, I noticed some gates available on special offer.
When I checked the website at home, these offers did not show up so I contacted the store.
I was told they were old stock that were to be sold off and invited down to the store to see what was available.
I checked the delivery charge on the website and it showed I was in Zone 1 - £12 including VAT.
I went back to the store, bought a gate and some more compost.
The gate was delivered a week later, but I noticed my delivery charge was £25.20.
I went back to the website, entered my post code and confirmed I was Zone 1 - £12 only.
I therefore contacted the main number and explained I thought I had been overcharged.
The operative agreed it looked like an error but said I had to contact the store. He gave me the phone number for the manager.
When I called, I got the same person who had served me.
He declined to agree that the delivery charge was a mistake.
He said they had to use a lorry for deliveries and the lorry needed to use a road so the charge was higher.
I told him that, from the website, the company policy for a Zone 1 delivery was £12 including VAT. I had entered my post code and it confirmed I was Zone 1.
He said that was only available from another, nearby, AVS store. Another ‘fact’ not mentioned in the company’s published delivery policy.
When I mentioned that compost was not available from this second location, but I could order it online for £12 delivery, he told me the lorry would have to drive to his store to pick up the compost to deliver to me.
Anyway, he thought I’d had a good deal on the gate so what was the problem.
The problem is he has not charged me the delivery cost stated clearly on the company website.
He said I could take the matter up with the branch manager but advised against that as the delivery charge should have been £30 so he was doing me a favour.
This all seemed to me to be a completely different interpretation of the published company delivery policy, so I rang off and decided to contact AVS by email.
I used the contact form from the website and explained the situation.
I waited more than the stated 72 hours for a reply – nothing happened.
So I tried again – same response – nothing.
Not exactly the customer service you would expect from a reputable company.
I will not be using AVS in the future.

Good price and easy to reserve and pay online

No problems except that despite being informed that access restrictions existed and that a 5 tonnes was the largest viable delivery vehicle, the material came on a much larger truck and could not be unloaded in the preferred spots.

Not delivered on the day specified, and we never had a call to tell us why, we had to call the depot to find out what was going on !
Better communication required.

2 stars delivery etc fine but 4 of my privacy trellis are different to the other 8 I brought. I rang up the branch to try and sort it. Told they were busy in the shop and he took my info. Never investigated like he said. Never called back so stuck with incorrect items I’ll have to just walk-in with. Product quality fine. Customer service poor.

Just a great service from ordering to the delivery
