We had to take Battens to the ombudsman for mis handling the will of a family member. We won and they had to pay compensation. They don't apolagise, despite being proven to be wrong. Never use this company, they made a very difficult situation very much worse.

This law firm failed at vital moments of their 'representation' of me by failing to submit a Defence Statement form in a case heard at Yeovil County Court .

If they had submitted the page of the Defence response, I might have stood a chance of avoiding a Bankruptcy order.

A complaint has gone to the Legal Ombudsman and I will find it somewhat baffling if the Ombudsman's conclusions are not fully in my favour when they have completed their investigation.

After years of good service, Battens has let us down. A week to open a file. Another week lost because the responsible person was on unannounced annual leave and did not get someone else to stand in and advance the matter. The managing director apologised, but does not agree such delay is important.

Jen Haynor managed our house conveyancing along with Anne Kendall both were very efficient knowledgable, helpful and effectively handled issues as they arose and in doing so provided sound advice.

Our contact with Battens began with Adam Hillier when my mother in law died and it was his helpful and professional approach which led to us instructing Battens to subsequently manage our house conveyancing. I would have no hesitation in recommending Battens in the area they have acted for us

The case was a building dispute where poor building work was being held to account under the Sale of Goods Act. What should have been a simple and easy case (even the defendant admitted they would lose) was badly managed with poor communication and a lacklustre approach resulting in a substantial loss of costs against what was spent to secure damages of only 64% of the initial claim. I can't comment on the competence displayed but it was not a successful outcome despite winning the case.

Selling my mum's house and was assigned to Tina Tippett at Battens,who has been informative and a pleasure to deal with . Excellent service from start to finish.
