I contacted Cabelas in regards to trading in a gun to purchase another for my grandkids. I wanted to make sure they would do that before I drove all the way there. They assured me they do trades or cash offer, so I travelled to the Green Bay /Ashwaubenon store. I was told to wait by a counter to check in gun. After 10 minutes of no assistance (of which they were not busy except 2 employees pushing credit cards), one of the credit card pushers came over and asked me what I wanted. I said I am waiting for someone to check in my gun. She said we are not accepting trade ins or purchasing, I tried to show her my email that showed that I was told they were accepting and I should come down. She would not look at it. I insisted she check with the manager or get one. She left and went out of sight for less than a minute and came back and told me NO we aren't taking guns. Before I could say anymore to her she turned her back and went back to pushing cards. I contacted Cabelas in regards to this of which they right away offered a $20 coupon on my next purchase. I wasn't looking for that. I wanted to know why they LIED to me. Basically it came down to money. Cabelas is a destination store. Most people travel a distance to get there, and once there they spend money. They were willing to say a LIE knowing the odds are most people will make purchases. I don't care how much money people say they donate. If you like corporate donations Give your money to a company like Scheels. They donate a ton! Customer service is a by product of an owners philosophy. I contacted Cabela's management. They said they would look into it Haha. Look at all the complaints on this website. Mostly customer service related. We shouldn't accept this. What I will say is their quality, pricing, greed, and customer service will put them in a league of their own of which I and you should want no part of. It was very refreshing to then go to Scheels to have a wonderful experience. What a great company with great morals. My friends, family and I are done with Bass Pro/Cabelas!!
Just want to add to this, it is now 12/24/24. I have never heard anything back from Jaclyn (the mgr) who said she was going to look into this matter as it was of great concern. The only concern was to move on, and put out the fires of others and sweep things under the rug. Customer disservice at it greatest!
Shipping by Canada Post during Strike, Really?
Shipping. I ordered 2 items on Black Friday, selected free shipping (it didn't say anywhere who the shipping company is). When I received the shipping confirmation email, they're shipping by Canada Post - while Canada Post is On Strike! Seriously! Cabela’s hasn't answered my emails. No one by phone can help.
I've asked them to retrieve my packages from the warehouse where they're sitting, re route to a store about an hour away, but no luck. Like a stone wall. All customer service agents do is read policies.
They shouldn't be accepting orders for Canada Post Shipping at this time, or at least, have big disclosures on the order process.
Worst service ever
Worst service ever. I can get better service at the DMV. Went to buy some ammo and the salesman was extremely rude. He was having a bad day and put it at my feet. I complained to a manager who just blew me off. Trouble is, this is the second time I in a year at this store. I’m so done with Cabelas.

Cabela’s went above and beyond
Cabela’s went above and beyond this weekend. They sponsored a fishing day at VA Togus for our Veterans. A lot of our Veterans are stuck in doors most everyday. A couple of the Veterans there are on hospice. Knowing that their last days were enjoyed being outdoors and fishing really helps my heart. Cabela’s may make a lot of money but they are always giving back to our community and they don’t have say hey look what we are doing. They just do it and move on. Please support this store any way you can.

Purchased a boat in early July 2024…
Purchased a boat in early July 2024 from the Gainesville, Va location. Took it back for some warranty service work on August 10,2024. I have only received 1 update call that I didn’t initiate and that was on September 6,2024. I was told I should have it back in the next couple weeks. I would not recommend purchasing or having a boat serviced at this location.
Price changing at online checkout
I went to Cabela's website on August 28, 2024, and found the Cabela's Deluxe Shooting Bench listed at $149.99. I put it in my cart and went to Checkout. I noticed in Checkout they were going to charge me $199.99. Thinking there must be a code I missed because I saw a place to enter a promo code, I deleted the item from my cart, went back to the item page, and again put it in the cart for $149.99. There was no mention of a promo code. I went back to Checkout, and again the price was $199.99. I removed the item from my cart. I called today, August 30, to see why they were charging me $50 more. I was told that the sale ended after August 28 and if I called then, they would have given me the lower price. Obviously, there is no proof they would have honored that price. They offered to send me a $20 coupon to apply against it now. I declined because I refuse to shop anywhere I find exercising this deceptive practice Beware of Cabela's trying to pull this unscrupulous stunt on your online purchases.

My son is 25 and has saved his money for a new turkey shotgun. Its his first gun purchase on his own, not a gift. He was very excited and we drove over an hour. We had called the day before to ensure it was in stock and they set it back for him. We arrived at the store and shopped some before getting the gun. We went to the gun counter and started the paperwork. He finished the form and the salesman was looking it over. He said your name on your drivers license doesn’t have a space in your last name but on the form you’ve left a space. He said let me talk to the gun sales manager. So 20 minutes later he comes back and says we can’t sell to you because of that. I said can’t he redo it and fix it? He said no. I said well I would like to purchase a shotgun and told him the model and make. He said no I can’t sell to you either. I said this is not a straw purchase. I would like to buy this product. He said no we can’t do that. I went to the main manager and explained this to them and she said there is nothing we can do. My brother owned a gunshop in the same state for years and said he has never heard anything like that. The Cabelas salesman in charge said it was his discretion to deny it. I have spent a lot of money in Cabelas and bass pro. Have visited there headquarters and was wearing a Cabelas hat in the store at the time. I had to leave a cart of merchandise behind because I wasn’t going to spend another cent in there. I know the laws but he said it was his discretion. I know they don’t care if they lose me and my son as a customer but They won’t get anything from me. It ruined his first gun buying experience and pissed me off to no end. I will tell as many people as I can not to shop there. Most of their stuff is overpriced anyway and they definitely could not care less about their customers.

Worst customer service if your product is damaged
We visited the Hamburg location this weekend to buy a 6 compartment camp cupboard. It’s about 1,5hours from where we live so about 3 hours total drive time. Once we got home we opened the box and the carrying case and there’s damage to the top of the cupboard. We called the store, the catalogue and then chatted with customer service to ask what our return options would be since we don’t want to drive that far again just to exchange it. The options we got were return through shipping but you have to pay for shipping yourself and then once they receive the return it can take up to 3 weeks for them to inspect it and make a decision. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever had. For a billion dollar company to let your customers pay for that is crazy to me. We’re not planning on buying from this place anytime soon.

I tried to purchase a fishing bag that was on sale for club customers. In order to get the club discount under the price listed there is a prompt to apply for "Club membership". The customer is also required to apply for the Cabela's Capitol One card. An additional 20 points is awarded upon first purchase.
I did both, Club and Card application attempted to purchase the bag but had no CVV #. Capitol One's site states that you can download a virtual card and get the information there. I did that. Well, you cannot get the information unless you have a purchase on file.
I called Capital One and was told I had to wait for the card to arrive in the mail. Unfortunately the sale will end before I receive the card.
So here's my complaint. Cabelas makes it look like if you 'apply now' and go through all the B.S. you are eligible for the discount.
I find it deceiving at the very least. And, as it certainly appears to be intentional, it is dishonest, and somewhat fraudulent.
There are many outfitters that I have and will continue to use. Cabela's/Bass Pro are bottom dwellers on the list, and I will be hard pressed to do any business with them again.
Don’t buy the Cabala Clam canopy
Don’t buy the Cabala Clam canopy. Not worth the money and return policy is nil, 60 days. Ours had 5 grommets rip off. Cabala says ‘sorry, it’s after 60 days, call Clam’. Called Clam and their response was ‘sorry, not covered by weather related damage.’ Oh, so only use on sunny cloudless days. End of my Clam days.
