Great service
I purchased garden furniture from the Alexandra Palace centre a few years ago and received excellent advice and service. I contacted them this week to order some accessories. Experienced the same knowledgeable and very helpful staff.
Friendly atmosphere lovely plants in pleasant gardens with lots to browse and a nice cafe for when you need a sit down.

Capital Gardens is a really nice garden…
Capital Gardens is a really nice garden centre, they have a great range of plants and flowers, a good indoor section with lots of different areas from outdoor furniture accessories, to gift ideas and also the usual gardening equipment, seeds, etc and also a lovely cafe.
excellent staff

I visited the Capital Gardens branch in …Berkhamsted
I visited the Capital Gardens branch in Berkhamsted yesterday, hand on my heart, I never seen the outdoor plant area looking so good. The sun was shining, Wood's very own blackbird was singing, Jonathon was carrying a huge white lilac to the checkout for a customer ( i told him great everything looked ) Also the indoor plant window was fab with its random wood finish, up-cycled from pallets I believe. I know this my second five star rating but if you had been with you would have agreed with me!
I recently moved back into Wandsworth …
I recently moved back into Wandsworth and popped into Neal's to pick up some bedding plants and was delighted by what I saw.
Not only were there a wonderful selection of plants, but I was really impressed with the gorgeous selection of giftware. The artificial flowers were stunning and I bought a beautiful scented candle.
Really impressed with the selection. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Will be back very soon!
Thank you 😁
only eat here if you like flies, poor food, dirty cutlery, and a long wait
My daughter suggested I post my own review on our visit yesterday, given how angered I am by the unhelpful and blunt response she received on her review here. Im not good on the computer so my son is typing this for me.
My daughter is very ill and has been mostly housebound for months. We finally manage to find a day when she and I are both well enough to go out, accompanied by my daughter's carer and a dear family friend. It was my daughter's birthday, so even more special. We thought Alexandra Palace and the garden centre would be perfect for this rare trip out together.
We had been told we would be ok to use the wheelchair safely there and I walk with a stick, hence why we checked in advance. The place is NOT friendly to disabled people. The ramp to the cafe was not near the cafe at all. We had to trek around the garden centre, with things in our way, narrow aisles. Even the disabled ramp had stuff on the floor, making it unsafe for disabled people.
The menu was limited, the floor was grubby and there were flies in the cafe. We shouldn't have stayed but we were very hungry and I knew my daughter's energy levels wouldn't last any longer if she didn't eat. So we ordered food but waited far too long. My daughter's carer went to ask about our meal and he told her he'd forgotten us! He was very sorry but it was still unacceptable given he could see us from where he was standing, and there wasn't anyone else in the cafe apart from two members of staff! He gave my carer two indivisible pieces of cake while we waited, but there were four of us and my daughter was allergic to the ingredients of one cake. So one cake as compensation between four people! No tea or coffee, no cold drinks, offered, not even a glass of water each or the drinks we had paid for, to have with the cakes.
The food, when it came, was not good. Reminiscent of cheap food at an old private service station on the A1 in the seventies, not a modern garden centre in London! More flies, dirty cutlery, just abysmal. When the food came my daughter did say to the waiter, when he apologised for the delay, that it was her birthday and that it was spoiling her day. Obviously, he didn't know how ill my daughter is or that this was her first family trip out since Xmas, but he shouldn't need to know that to give good service. Good service should be second nature.
I didn't want my daughter more upset so I didn't make a fuss. I stupidly expected the meal might be refunded but it wasn't. We didn't even want to spend money in the shop after that, even though our family friend had intended to buy my daughter her birthday present there. What we saw on the shelves and in the plants was vastly overpriced.
I am angry and disappointed at the response to my daughter's very valid review. She actually held back and could have said far more, about the filthy roof windows, for example, and the grumpy staff in the shop. She won't say it but I will. For the manager to reply with such a weak response, expecting my sick daughter to call him and get even more upset, is very bad customer service. I don't care about the money but I do care about my daughter.

Spoilt what should have been a lovely birthday lunch
IN RESPONSE, WE DID COMPLAIN DIRECTLY AT THE TIME - I EVEN POINTED OUT, DISCREETLY & CALMLY, TO YOUR STAFF MEMBER THAT IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY & SPOILT BY THEIR APPALLING LACK OF SERVICE - HE IGNORED ME!
IF YOU THINK I WANTED TO RUIN MY BIRTHDAY FAMILY LUNCH EVEN MORE BY INSISTING ON CALLING A MANAGER & EMBARRASSING MY DAD WHO WANTED TO TREAT ME, AFTER I'D BEEN UNABLE TO ENJOY LUNCH WITH HIM FOR MONTHS DUE TO ILL-HEALTH, THEN YOU REALLY HAVE NO COMPREHENSION OF CUSTOMER CARE!
YOU KERP YOUR MONEY - IT'S CLEARLY FAR MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU THAN YOUR CUSTOMERS!
I stupidly imagined that Ally Pally garden centre would be a nice place for my birthday lunch! Oh how wrong I was! The garden centre itself is grubby, on its last legs, with a very poor variety of over-priced gifts and the plants we did see were way over-priced too.
I called months ago asking if they had disabled access & was told "oh yes, we have a ramp to the cafe. No problems for wheelchairs".
What they didn't tell me was that, on entering the garden centre, the steps to the cafe are right there but my wheelchair and I, and my 90 year old disabled dad, had to go right around the garden centre to reach the ramp - a very inaccessible garden centre with very narrow gaps between displays. The ramp had things on the floor on both sides all the way up it - thoughtless and unhelpful.
Then we see what a dump the cafe is! But we were all exhausted and hungry, and had trekked around the place to get there so we decided to stay.
The cafe has no moveable menus so my carer was told to bring the 4 large plastic display stands from around the checkout to show me what was available! We placed our order, sat and waited. And waited....
I quickly started to feel ill, as did my friend, because somebody with very little common sense had put the stinkiest flowers - lilies, complete with staining stamen - on every table. We had to move all the lilies from near us but put up with the smell because we were starving & we'd already paid for our meal.
Seriously, who puts stinky lilies where people are eating?! When our food did eventually come, every mouthful tasted of that awful smell.
The food didn't arrive - half an hour after ordering, my carer goes to ask how long it will be. "Oh, I forgot!" said the server! He had full view of us, could see we were sitting there with no food, yet he forgot that we'd paid for food!
As "compensation", he gave my carer two cakes - even though there were four of us. No extra tea or coffee to go with the cakes or to keep us going until we finally got our food.
When we did eventually get our food, it came with flies. My friend's toasted tea cake was cold and barely toasted and my tuna melt tasted like the tuna mix was days old.
For this pleasure, we paid over £20. And I remind you - this was my birthday! Incredibly disappointing.
UPDATE - MEANINGLESS APOLOGY FROM CAPITAL. SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IN FIRST PLACE. NO REFUND FOR A RUINED BIRTHDAY LUNCH SAYS EVERYTHING ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS!

Neals Nursery, Wandsworth
This is a really good nursery. I almost always find what I am looking for. The staff are friendly and know their plants. Prices are reasonable.
The best nursery in town!
The staff are excellent and the choice of plants exceptional!
helpful advice
When buying grass seed last year for a section of my rear garden I wasn't simply directed to the area where the grass seed was displayed but was asked whether the grass was for a shaded part of the garden and a few other questions before being directed to the product best suited for this part of the garden. This has been my experience when buying other products as well. I have found the staff both knowledgeable and helpful in this store.
Lots of choice; helpful advice.
Have been shopping here for many, many years. It's convenient for me and I can usually buy most of what I need for the garden in one place. Helpful, friendly staff.
Toilet facilities.
There have been many in-store improvements including the cafe.
What really lets the garden centre down, in my opinion, is the very poor toilet facility. Nothing has changed over the years and although clean, the cubicles require a complete overhaul as there is rust on the washing facility and one of the wc pedestals is not attached to the floor. Maybe an inspection by the manager would be helpful. Several other people have commented on this. Hopefully, things will improve.
Great Garden centre
Love this place as it's almost on our doorstep. Could do with some better signage about the plants, where and what to plant etc
How about a tea room? Or a few seats around the gardens.
Customer Service
Staff are helpfull and normally able to help with enquiries.
A fab place
I love this garden centre. Its a place you can wonder around enjoy a cup of coffee from the lovely café.
The staff are very helpful and know there stuff about the plants and all other products they sell.
You can also park which is great if your buying heavy products.
I would recommend this place to anyone.
Also child and dog friendly!!
Local company that I was once proud of and now am ashamed
I've always loved the shop, especially at Christmas time. It's a little expensive but I was more than happy to support my local shop. Now that they have made the business decision to have a live pet shop within the premises I am both in disbelief and so very upset for the poor animals. They are at best just reaching the standards of the local council that dont come anywhere near RSPCA standards. The fact the Woods have caged birds and animals in the premises but don't actually care that they reach said standards has left me to vote with my feet. I cannot bring myself to go into the shop until they no longer sell these poor creatures.
