I highly recommend China Travel's Zhangjiajie trip. Our local guide Dai was knowledgeable of the area and its customs. However Dai's authenticity really distinguishes her as a person. She exudes fun enthusiasm while seamlessly juggling the times and approaches to our tour. She is flexible and responsive. We will remember Zhangjiajie and Dai. It was by far the best stop of our tour.

As part of our fifth trip to China with China Travel, we visited the following included in our schedule:
Ancient Fenghuang Town icluding boat trip, Zhangjiajie National park, cable car and elevator, Zhanjiajie Glass Bridge, Tianmen Mountain including Glass Walkway. Once again China Travel met our expectations, we had a great time, our guide Eileen was fantastic to deal with, and took my wife's needs into consideration. Highly recommended.

This is our 2nd trip with China Highlights. This time to Lijiang & Shangrila. Booking was very convenient. Carrie was quick to respond to our inquiries and requests. Special mention to our Lijiang tour guide, Eleonor, for making this part of our tour smooth and very enjoyable. She even booked us last minute tickets to the Lijiang Impressions show and still manage to squeeze in all our scheduled itinerary for the day. We had a very enjoyable time that we want to book another Lijiang tour very soon!

Annie at China Travel helped us organise our 5 week grand tour through China. She took care of the logistics, some wonderful excursions and was always available for questions or extra suggestions. We had a fantastic experience with China Highlights when organising our trip along the Ancient Tea Horse Road in March/April. From the outset, Trent provided invaluable advice—particularly on train tickets and local travel logistics—which made a real difference to our planning.
His support gave us both confidence and excitement in the run-up to departure and throughout the trip itself. The drivers arranged for us (Ren and Chen) were excellent, clearly understood what we wanted, and consistently went the extra mile to ensure we experienced everything we’d hoped for and more.
As a result, we were able to fully relax and enjoy the journey, creating some truly wonderful memories. The time and effort put into organising our holiday meant a great deal to us—we genuinely couldn’t have done it without this level of support.

Couldn’t say enough on how smooth our trip went. I highly recommend China Travel to anyone wanting to visit China. It’s safe and secure and personal and couldn’t ask for more. We got picked up on every location and got dropped off at all airports or train stations with personal escort. Really pleased with their specialist private service. Will used them again for different regions in China. In Beijing our tour guide Mark was incredible, full of history knowledge.

Helen from Chengdu was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the pandas, the town. She even taught me how to play Mahjong.

Well planned trip organized for us and everything was super ...my flight was delayed and they could change all so quickly ....super efficient team and guide tuffy has taken care as best

Our trip to Zhangjiajie was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing tour guide, Elaine.

Elaine took us to some of the most spectacular sights we have ever seen, including the mountaintop via the famous Bailong Elevator, the iconic Hallelujah Mountain, Grand Canyon Glass Walk, Tianmen Mountain and the breathtaking landscapes that inspired the movie Avatar. Seeing these incredible natural wonders was a dream come true and Elaine’s knowledge and storytelling brought each location to life.

What impressed us most was her kindness and attention to detail. Knowing that we had arrived late the night before, she thoughtfully anticipated that we might be hungry and surprised us with fresh fruit and snacks. It was such a caring gesture and showed how much she genuinely looks after her guests.

Throughout our tour, Elaine was professional, friendly, patient and incredibly organized. She made everything effortless, allowing us to fully enjoy the beauty of Zhangjiajie 👌

Our group was truly impressed with the service provided by your agency—specifically the punctuality, the demeanor of the guides, their attentiveness to any concerns or suggestions we had, and the professionalism and pleasant nature of every guide in every city we visited. I would like to personally acknowledge and mention them all: our trip coordinator (Vivi Chen), and the guides in each city—Colin in Beijing, Mark in Xi'an, Una in Chongqing, Sophia in Yichang, Wendy in Zhangjiajie, and finally, Josh and Cindy in Shanghai. To all of them, my deepest gratitude for the wonderful time they ensured we had.

China Highlights organised our trip really well. From the time we were booking our trip to the time we left, China Highlights were always on hand to answer questions, change our itinerary and ensured they were on our journey with us. We visited 4 cities in China and the transfers, guides and drivers ensured a smooth transition and wonderful experience. In particular our guides, Amy, Cherry, Lin and Nancy were fantastic. They were all willing to provide advice, tips on great restaurants, places to visit in our spare time and ways to get there. All in all, a great trip and very well organised by China Highlights.

We had a wonderful 24-day vacation in China. Visited Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, cruised on Yangtze River, Yichang, Zhangjiajie, Guilin, Yangshuo, Shanghai, and HongKong. Mrs. Vivi Chen, from China Travel, helped us elaborate the itinerary several months in advance, with great expertise, dedication, and diligence. We had private guides in every city, who did also a fantastic job. We loved China, its culture, and people.

Got a trip booked to Huangshan, Huangling and Wangxiangu.

Everything from the booking experience to the experience in Shanghai was examplary. Vanessa our travel advisor helped usosify and customize the trip to our preference.

In Huangshan station we met Suki our guide which was accommodating and super energetic.
The car was squeaky clean, all hotels were high quality luxury hotels in the center of the attractions we were visiting.

Suki showed us the way and explained everything from history and current culture and daily life in china

I was extremely surprised how accommodating and nice everyone were.

One last example to show how she went above and beyond - we forget in the hotel room on the mountain a medicine that needs to be refrigerated. Absolutely our own fault. Suki made sure it will be shipped to our next hotel.

12 days in Beijing, Xian, Guilin/Yangshuo, Shanghai with China Travel.

Attentive & knowledgeable guides in every city made us feel relaxed and able to just enjoy the experience in every location.
Food & accommodations was good.

Our trip could not have gone better! Ann in Zhangjiajie was fantastic! She customized everything to our needs and was very helpful and sweet. She took us to areas that were less crowded and showed us the most spectacular views. She is flexible with the schedule, speaks English very well, and took care of everything we needed or wanted.
Our whole experience with China Travel was exceptional. From the time we landed in China until the time we left, they took care of every detail.

I had a very good experience with Eleanor as my tour guide in Lijiang. She was friendly, welcoming, and made the tour enjoyable from start to finish. Eleanor explained things clearly, shared interesting information about the city and the Naxi people, and was always helpful and kind.

She created a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere during the tour, which made the experience even better. Overall, Eleanor did a great job, and I would happily recommend her to anyone visiting Lijiang.

Quick, responsive, reliable. As simple as that.

The sales rep didn't contact me before our departure to let me know the tour guide's name & contact info. Upon our arrival in Kun Ming, we didn't see anyone picked us up. When I called all phone numbers listed on the sales rep's signature line, a machine answered the numbers I called were invalid numbers, only her cell number could connect but she didn't pick up. We were very panic & thought we were cheated/scammed. We went to the airport information desk & they helped me calling the sales rep's cell, only the second time call was picked up. The info desk told her that her customer was at the Kun Ming airport without no one picked them up. The sales rep said "I have so many customers, I don't know which one they are. They should contact their tour guide because they have been given their number & info". Her tone & expression reflecting that it's not her responsibility of what happening to us in Kun Ming airport. I was so mad upon hearing her irresponsible response & took over the call, she then woke up from her sleep & said she would call the tour guide to check what happen.

In Kun Ming, the tour guide didn't pay attention to her hygiene, she didn't brush her teeth before meeting us & her breath was so horrible & we were force to breathing on her horrible bad breath (out of bed bad breath) all day long for 4 days while she kept talking to us. Whenever we wanted to look at dry mushrooms & teas in a shop we passed by, she always said they were not good quality & beware being cheated, she could bring us to the trusted vendors that she always bought hers from. Ended we were brought to shops that she had business connection with to inflate the price to give her a cut. Not very honest tour guide. She also took pictures of us with her cellphone without asking our approval ahead of time if she could do so, no respect of our privacy.

In Shangrila, we were assigned to a male tour guide who was acting super arrogant & rude to us. He walked way ahead of us without explaining to us anything about the place we were visiting, then stopped & looked down at the river without caring if we were with him. I walked to him & asked why he walked so far ahead of us & not telling us anything about the place. He yelled very loud at me "Do you want me to tell you now?" He was so unprofessional & inappropriate as a tour guide.

The food in Shangrila was so horrible. Particularly the second day. We paid for a private tour of 2 people with this travel agent & were told a person could order up to RMB 90, so 2 people = RMB 180, but the food ordered by the tour guide on the second day in Shangrila, we think it's only about RMB 50, very poor food quality & choice. In Kun Ming, when we wanted to order a dish more, the tour guide didn't allow us by saying it's too much already, when it's not & she ate together with us. I don't know if the remaining balance of our RMB 180 food budget also kept by the tour guides or it's saving money for the travel agent company. We were satisfied with our lunch choice of the restaurants & dishes when we were in Dali & Lijiang. The best tour guide we had was the one in Lijiang. She didn't try to sell anything to us (by bringing us to a shop or anything like that), very helpful, knowledgeable & has integrity, never trying to take advantage of us.

What worst about this travel agent - they asked their tour guides to keep taking pictures of their customers using the tour guide's cell. So when we asked our tour guides to take a picture for us using our cell, they either said they would take it with theirs & would forward it to us, or they took it with our cell but also with their cell without asking our approval about it. When I finally complained about it, one of the tour guide told us that's the company policy to keep taking pictures of their customers & sent the pictures to the company to be used for their promotion brochure, etc. The company itself never disclosed to us about it ahead of time nor asked our approval if it's OK to take our pictures & using them for their promotional activities. Is this legal in China?
