As a current student hypnotherapist and counsellor training with Chrysalis, I couldn’t be more satisfied with the quality of the programme and the support I’ve received throughout my studies. From the first module onward, the structure, depth, and clarity of the teaching have consistently exceeded my expectations.

My tutor has been an exceptional source of guidance—knowledgeable, reassuring, and truly invested in my development. She creates a learning environment that feels safe, encouraging, and intellectually stimulating. Her feedback is always constructive and personalised, helping me grow in both confidence and competence. The support I’ve received from her has been invaluable and has played a major role in my progress so far.

The course materials are well-designed, the practical elements are empowering, and the overall ethos is compassionate and professional. I feel fully supported not only in building the necessary clinical skills but also in developing my identity as a future practitioner.

I wholeheartedly recommend Chrysalis to anyone considering training in hypnotherapy or counselling. The experience has been transformative, and the support—especially from my tutor—has been outstanding.

Chrysalis has been incredibly supportive to me. I have finally finished and passed my finals. I have been struggling with my physical and mental health and I was challenged greatly to finish my coursework. I had the most incredible support, understanding and encouragement from Tania Redmile in the South Student Support Liaison. Without Tania I would not have been able to finish and pass my coursework. Tania never gave up on me, she gave me nothing but support and encouragement and understanding, she’s a wonderful person and I cannot thank her more. Thank you 🙏🏻🤩🙏🏻

Mark V is a great teacher and very supportive

I've had just over 2 years, so far, and I'm finishing in the next couple of months on the Level 5 course (Level 4 first year, Level 5 second year) and I have been pleased with the online materials, in-person tuition, level of knowledge of the tutor (Rhianan Lowes), her empathetic support, the backroom support of the admin staff who always respond promptly and the extra webinars that Chrysalis provide. I have found the breaks Chrysalis build in for July, August and December helpful in managing other aspects of my life separate to studying and placement counselling. I definitely recommend Chrysalis as being good value for money, detailed and broad training, supportive and with rigorous but fair assessments regularly being part of the course.

I enjoyed my time in the course. The only drawback for me is the difficulty to travel and meet with peers to carry out the practice hours. I'm not sure that there's a way around thar other than to do it all online however, I understand why it is set up in such a way.

Karl is an excellent tutor who is incredibly passionate about what he does. He demonstrates clear knowledge of anything that he teaches us, coupled with an essence of self-awareness and openness. Karl consistently uses concept checking questions to ensure we have interpreted what he is teaching us correctly, furthermore he is able to employ alternative methods of explanation if necessary, to support us effectively as students. He is always willing to go above and beyond to ensure we are having a positive and purposeful learning experience. Thank you Karl, your expertise and experience is massively appreciated. You are making our 1st year of learning significantly valuable and enjoyable.

The pluralistic approach is amazing to focus on the client. The materials available in moodle are clear and easy to access. The component/module format gets a bit confusing at times and it would be helpful to combine the schedule of dates for the course and assignment and due dates with the structure and modules rather than pulling together your own timetable using two documents. The onus on you to access personal counselling as needed has been a breath of fresh air and enabled me to use it as needed rather than than a sheep dunk approach adding unnecessary cost and providing more barriers so thank you for that. The support services have been prompt in their replies and assistance (for example with illness of a supervisor) and take a supportive pragmatic approach. The written learning materials and videos suit differing learning styles. I have learned and developed so much and the free cpd webinars and additional courses have been interesting and of good quality.
It has been a great experience, tough at times but worthwhile

The second year with Chrysalis was very tough, with massive tutor issues. We were told that new tutors were apprehensive to work with our group due to the feedback that the Chrysalis staff had given them about us as a class. This was very hard to hear and upsetting as it was not our faults that we had a tutor that was unavailable, lied and never marked any of our essays. However, the last year of my studies has been stable and enjoyable, with a tutor who has done their job ethically whilst being relatable.

Jill W has been the best tutor that I have had since starting my counselling studies several years ago. I have used different training providers with several different tutors, Jill has been the best by far, she is everything that a counselling tutor should be in my opinion, calm, respectful, kind, empathic, honest, constructive and experienced, she has taught me so much (five stars for Jill!) My only issue with Chrysalis is that they changed the course venue to another venue 25 miles away in the second year.

Really interesting course - our tutor Karl Shanahan is brilliant and gets the best out of us with his teaching style.

Our tutor is fantastic, Karl makes us feel heard. He keeps us interested in the content and manages to motivate us. Some of the Chrysalis content is difficult to navigate in terms of what chapters to read in the books to support the learning it just names the book and when it talks about more information being on Moodle for certain things it’s unable to locate. Karl is definitely a supportive tutor definitely recommend him.

Classes were excellent with relatable examples .More practical sessions which brought more group interactions.

Karl is a very straight forward, easy going, personable lecturer. His knowledge and ease with the subject is amazing and even inspiring. I personally appreciate his bluntness as I see it as a sign of acceptance and respect in being comfortable enough to be honest. Definitely top dog 👍

Excellent tutor Karl, he is very supportive and professional. Plus a great study group.

Came on the course to build my knowledge and confidence to work with sleep issues in Hypnotherapy and wasn't disappointed. The course day was well structured with theory, discussion, case study and practice and the tutor Rueben Turkie was warm, knowledgable and created a safe enviroment to practice new skills.

The help and support given is outstanding and very polite in the process.
I would find the uploading and submitting my assignments very difficult I’d I didn’t have the full support of student support.
All the staff are patient and understanding particularly one member called Tania.

I’d been a little apprehensive to start a new year on a fairly challenging course but the momentum and dynamic of the first session was perfect. The tutor, held the attention of the room effortlessly and I believe this gave us all confidence.

Our tutor Mark was brilliant! Supportive, experienced, knowledgeable and personable, made the learning experience a really positive one. The assessments felt quite heavy going towards the end of the course, some more balance of this would have been helpful throughout the year.
