Great teaching. Opening minds to new ideas -I so enjoyed my collage short course.

I am just about to complete the Drawing 1 course at City Lit with tutor Andrea Voisey, and it has been a really enjoyable experience. The class was not only fun, but everyone engaging with Andrea bringing it all to life and makes it suitable for all.

Andrea created a buzzy and encouraging environment, allowing everyone to build confidence while learning new techniques. Each session was interesting and struck a perfect balance between guidance and creative freedom.

The course fully met my expectations—and exceeded them in terms of enjoyment. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore or develop their drawing skills in a supportive and inspiring setting. All materials included!!!

The course subject (Modern Italian Fictions) was very interesting, the student group was high quality and Aamer's teaching style just right.

I have enjoyed studying German at city lit. The teaching has been excellent but I feel the class of 19 people is too large and does not encourage questions although we were always encouraged to ask.
I find Google classroom extremely frustrating I have it on my phone, but I have found it impossible to login on my computer.

I have been able to attend classes this and previous years in person, with a focus on contemporary European history, particularly that of Germany. The teacher, Rudolf Muhs, brings huge experience of his subject and encourages class discussion and varied viewpoints. The social element is also important as we learn together.City Lit is highly recommended for those interested in 'lifelong learning!

The CityLit has changed my life. Since 2011, until the present , I have participated in piano masterclasses, had piano performance opportunities, studied Greek and obtained a qualification in Instrumental and Vocal Teaching, which expanded my work opportunities. The tutors there are experts in their fields , the teaching is first class and it all takes place in a lovely airy building with great facilities and friendly staff.
A gem in the middle of central London.

I have attended a number of different Spanish classes at CotyLit, all good, however this last class really exceeded expectations. This was entirely due to the quality of the teaching. Themes ran through recent history, literature reflecting culture and change, then bringing this through to recent events and broader issues currently affecting Spanish society. Each class flowing into the next and reflecting a high level of thought and preparation. Many thanks Arianna Bassetti.

I have completed several courses in the Art Dept and especially with Tony Hull. The college is great - staff are very helpful and the facilities are good. Others on the course are always interesting and enthusiastic. My tutor in particular is an amzing teacher. Full of good advice and enthisiasm.

I can't speak highly enough of City Lit. I have covered such a wide range of topics and classes and have learnt from and enjoyed everyone.

Such a fantastic intro to watercolour course. Really enjoyed the challenges Adam set, the variety, and the support from Adam and the students. Highly recommend.

Over the last 3 years, I have attended many different courses at CityLit, joined one of the choirs and the current affairs discussion group and they have all been fantastic. They have a very wide range of courses on offer, and the knowledge and standard of teaching excellent. Their use of Google Classroom has also been really useful, and their support staff very helpful. Can't recommend it highly enough!

I have undertaken 6 courses in the last year .
Other than an abysmal Latin and Ballroom ‘ teacher ‘ , the 3 ‘ facilitators’ I had for the 5 other courses , which were acting based were a very good standard, including being professional , encouraging and supportive .

However the City Lit environment needs to be improved . It’s overall snobbish. Other than the classes , I found very little social interaction.

It’s lacking diversity , communication and friendliness .

I have attended a variety of online courses as I live outside London so attending in person is less appealing. There is an amazing range of topics to choose from and I have enjoyed picking both long and one off courses on subjects I knew little about. The tutors of these courses have all been very knowledgable with good illustrations and I felt the subject matter was put together carefully and presented well.
Like some other reviewers I have found getting into classroom quite a challenge.

I have really enjoyed learning Spanish over the past three years. I do my classes online which is much more convenient than travelling into town at night. Analia Tolone is an exceptionally good teacher and I have enjoyed Roberto Gallego's classes as well.
I feel that I am making steady progress.

City Lit is a great place to study. Over the past 9 years I've attended various courses and classes, across a range of subjects, including photography tuition, music history, ancient history and film studies, and they've been uniformly excellent - engaging, knowledgeable and friendly tutors, helpful resources and friendly fellow students. I recommend City Lit highly.

In general, I am very impressed with Citylit's online offerings. I recently completed a writing course, which was billed as being at "a gentle pace" which I thought would be good for my anxieties about being in a classroom and sharing writing. Unfortunately, I found it rather intimidating when we were told we would be picked on to contribute. This is overwhelming for me and it had the reverse effect of making me even more introverted, when I hoped to become more confident. Later in the course, the tutor introduced safer ways of contributing such as in smaller breakout groups, and by writing in the chat. I think if these had been the initial method earlier on, I would have grown more confident at speaking in class, but the picked-on 'threat' really derailed me.

I am booked on two more writing courses with Citylit and hope to gain in confidence throughout, probably adding more courses as the year progresses. Citylit has a great ethos and the courses are good quality. There is a lot of good material and ideas to work with. I especially enjoyed writing the villanelle.

I think more student discussion in the asynchronous classroom space would add even more value. Very few students engaged there with shared written work, probably because this is all new to all of us, so I think we need lots of gentle encouragement.

It was a lovely group of people, and the tutor was very clear and organised. I think we could have happily carried on all year!

Currently wrapping up my second course in ancient Greek. Both tutors have been wonderful. Learning an ancient language is never 'easy'... but City Lit and the great tutors I've had really make it a wortwhile and rewarding journey.

The teaching at City Lit is first class. I’ve been doing tap class for a few years now. Started with beginners. Excellent tap dance teacher. I hear from others who do ballet that their teachers are great too. So if you want to learn to dance in a friendly environment no matter what your age here is a good place to come. I’ve made some lovely friends too through love of tap dance.

Good, clean and pleasant location, skilled tutor with excellent teaching abilities, technique and very supportive. I enjoyed my 10 weeks learning sport massage level 4 with 7 attendees. Planning to attend the level 5 in September.

A lovely class of people with the same aim to learn as complete beginners to play the piano. Our teacher is patient, very very talented and super knowledgeable- it’s been just great to experience being back in the classroom once again
