Always used Clinton cards in Aberdeen but won’t be back. Purchased a card then literally went to the shop next door where my wife informed me she had already purchased a card for my mother the day before. I returned straight away ( approximately 5 minutes ) and was told I could only get a credit note. I told the assistant I always use Clinton cards and she indeed recognised me as a regular customer but couldn’t help but give me a credit note. She informed me the credit note is valid for 6 months which I explained due to the birthdays of my relatives would be of no use to me. After almost 10 minutes of getting nowhere I explained that I wouldn’t be back in future and extremely disappointed with her lack of understanding with this issue. Terrible service.😡😡😡😡

Well i purchased a card for £3.90 att clinton cards northumberland street newcastle and thought it was a bit steep for a card so i went to catd factory where i picked a card up for £1.49 then on returning to clinton cards for a refund i was told an exchange or a credit note would only be availbe to me i was literally 5 minutes out that shop.and will never go there again always thought why its allways empty because they are s RIP OFFS when i purchased the card the guy who served me should of said theres no refunds on the cards .

Please be careful when buying from this company i purchased a candle gift set for £29.99p in Tamworth Clinton's i then rang my son to tell him that i bought it for his partner but he said he had already got her the same one when i returned it within half hour of purchasing it i was told by the cashier we only do exchanges not refunds so there for i was left to spend £29.99p on a load of items that i would not have purchased normally so either stay clear of Clinton's or be prepared to be robbed of your hard earnt money i will never use this shop again i can see now why the shop is always empty

Card damaged in my bag.

They don’t have small paper bags for cards. “We don’t do paper bags” I was told in the most bored tone ever, suggesting assistant is sick of people asking. Therefore, only option is to buy a PLASTIC carrier bag. I thought the whole point of doing away with plastic coverings on cards was to REDUCE single use plastic?

Think I’ll stick with Etsy in future, at least cards come in packaging.

We only went in as we rarely see a Clintons these days. I know why now! The selection was pretty poor for a specialist card shop but we got 75% of what we went in for with some compromise. The service was friendly and chatty. The sting was the prices. One card cost £8.30, two other cards were £6.30 each. We hadn’t checked individual prices assuming they would be between £3-5 each. How anyone can charge £8.30 for a single card is beyond me. That’s the last time ever I set foot in Clintons. What a complete ripoff.

I visited the shop in The Dolphin Centre in Poole and purchased three unwrapped cards, totalling over £8. It is a well presented store with a good choice of cards.
At the till I was asked if I wished to purchase a plastic bag to put them in. I already had my own bag to put them in but asked for a small paper bag to protect them inside, as provided in other shops.
I was informed, in a not particularly customer friendly manner, that this was not something that was provided by them.
My conclusion is that Clinton’s are only interested in selling you an environmentally friendly but profitable for them plastic bag rather than providing a paper bag as other card retailers do.

If there is minus10 rating I would go for it as the service I received in the store at Buchanan Gallery Glasgow was absolutely appalling. Never ever again I will shop at Clintons. The manager is rude, non-helpful, racially biased and worst of all thinking she owns the shop and can call the customer names in whichever way she wants, abuse the power the company has entrusted in her to manage the shop. Her sheer arrogance and rudeness is definitely worth the top spot for worst customer service. I thought I have seen bad customer service, till I was serviced, rather abused, in Clinton’s shop. If anyone from Clinton’s is reading this post, and care about your customer, respond to this message and I will tell you what I have experienced in your shop. If I put the details here, it would be stressful for anyone to read.

Terrible shopping experience. Rude and unhelpful staff in the Tunbridge Wells store.
Will not shop at Clintons again.

The sales assistant in the Leeds store (opposite Boots) was amazing. I unfortunately did not get his name but he was so helpful when I was choosing hellium balloons for a birthday event the previous weekend. Refreshing in this day and age for staff to be interested in helping. I returned because of his helpful and knowledgeable approach and purchased balloons, gift bags and cards confident my balloon table display would be ready to collect on the 9th just prior to the event.
Not only was the display absolutely gorgeous but the same assistant called me advising they were now ready to collect.
When I arrived to pick them up he was attentive, humorous and an absolute delight. Top marks for customer service!!
Clinton's you need more like him. People will pay more for great customer service.

Visited Lakeside store 22nd June, was in electric buggy, as have walking issue, but wanted to purchase an anniversary card for my wife, asked for help the response was amazing, very kind lady helped me get card from top shelf, took my payment card to the till, other side of the shop and returned with card in bag, and with a great smile thanked me, WOW

Bought a father's day card for my father in law - jokey card about phones. He has since had an issue with his phone which has been very stressful. I therefore wanted to exchange the card. No receipt (saving the planet and all that) but credit card showing the purchase and Clinton price sticker still on the card. Point blank refused to exchange the card. I won't ever go back and didn't buy the other cards I needed there either. If you do shop there always ask for a receipt

Bolton branch- My daughter and I were in the shop a few days ago, and the lady behind the cash till kept watching us like a hawk as we were looking around the shop. Was very uncomfortable and absolutely unnecessary to be watched like that! We are from a minority ethnic background, so I can't help but think that this lady's approach to treat so suspiciously had something to do with our race, and her own racial prejudice or stereotypes that she may have about people of certain races/nationalities. But I can absolutely confirm that the way she kept watching our every move as we were looking around the shop was very unnecessary and wrong. And the look of surprise she had when we brought our items to the till to pay for them. All visible ethnic minority customers pay close attention to how the shop assistants here behave towards you when you go in! I have a strong feeling we are not the only BAME customers she has done this to!

I visited Clinton Cards in the Washington Glarreies to buy a Wedding Anniversary Card, after the purchase the staff member would I likev to buy a pen support Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer and another condition requiring support.

I paid £2.50 for the Prostrate Cancer Pen, when I got home and went to use the pen there was no reference to Prostate Cancer or any other support organisatio, it was an ordinary Liquid Gel Pen.

This is fundamentally wrong and one wonders how much money from the pen sales goes to the respective organisations and how much goes into the pockets of the Clinton Directors.

Sick of buying cards and they cannot provide a paper bag for the cards to go in ! Why ??????

A big thank you to the young lady with the infectious laugh at the white rose store for going above and beyond to sort a problem that originated from the York store where we received the wrong figurine in the box when we opened it.
She sorted it and rang me back within 5 mins.
York didn't answer the phone!!
Please pass this on to the white rose staff.

Website rubbish but did hear back from customer service in response to an email. I was using an App downloaded from Playstore which they don't recognise so if you are doing the same delete it and go online.

I was in Clinton’s card shop in coney street York ,a very rude assistant told me I couldn’t look through the box of xmas cards because I might contaminate them , as people were looking at all sorts of cards then putting them back I can’t see what the difference is , I definitely won’t be going in the shop again .

The quality of cards were great. Just what I wanted as they were very important cards.

Quick delivery which I can’t fault and the packaging made sure the cards wouldn’t be damaged.

The shops are great, the website is awful! Bugs when moving to checkout which makes it impossible to buy via an account, tracking links have no useful info and clunky performance. I've emailed a number of times with these bugs and nothing fixed in the past year. This must be losing them a measurable amount of business! I often end up shopping elsewhere as a result.
