it was so bad bc my and my friend went there and got two little light bulbs to match but an hour later we saw a better plushies in i different shop so we went to return them and the lady was rude and spoke to us like we’re little and said “erm we don’t do returns we only do exchanges🙄” so overall hated it and will never go back.

I honestly can’t believe the terrible experience I had at Clinton’s in Carlisle. I bought three rolls of Glick Christmas wrapping paper with matching tags for £25, but when I realised I didn’t need it, I went back the next day to return it. To my shock, I was told they don’t do refunds, only exchanges. Basically, they had my £25, and there was no way I was getting it back, no matter what.
The two women behind the counter couldn’t have cared less. They were practically smirking and laughing while I was trying to explain the situation. How is that professional customer service? When I asked where it says they don’t do refunds, one of them pointed to the most ridiculous sign, with so much tiny text that no one in their right mind would even notice it. Who honestly has time to read a sign like that when you’re just trying to pay and get out of there? It’s embarrassing that they think that’s enough to communicate a no-refund policy.
I didn’t even know that it was a thing for a shop to not give refunds at all, especially on full-priced items! I always thought that applied only to sale items, but apparently not at Clinton’s. It honestly feels like a company that’s desperate to hold on to your money, no matter how unfair it is.
The customer service was beyond appalling. One of the women was more interested in stuffing her face with sweets than actually dealing with my concerns. I’ve never been treated like this in a shop before, and I’m absolutely furious. I’m definitely going to follow up with Trading Standards because this is just unacceptable.
I will NEVER shop at Clinton’s again. They’ve completely lost my custom. Their rude, unhelpful staff and ridiculous policies aren’t worth anyone’s time or money.

I was told by the manager to "NOT HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS" This was shouted at me in the shop. In the Glades Bromley store.
I returned a item id bought as s gift. I had the receipt and was told I could change or get a credit note which I accepted
I then changed my mind and decided id rather keep the gift . This caused him a problem as the girls on the till found it difficult to put the transaction through and he had to be called to do it for acsecond time.
I was shocked that someone would say that to another person. Especially to a customer who is buying Christmas gifts.

Visited the Falkirk branch this morning. I went to the till to purchase. No 'hello', no 'please' no 'thank you'. Lady with red hair. Very sad experience. Customer service at its finest, absolute disgrace.

Appalling Service
If there is minus10 rating I would go for it as the service I received in the store at Buchanan Gallery Glasgow was absolutely appalling. Never ever again I will shop at Clintons. The manager is rude, non-helpful, racially biased and worst of all thinking she owns the shop and can call the customer names in whichever way she wants, abuse the power the company has entrusted in her to manage the shop. Her sheer arrogance and rudeness is definitely worth the top spot for worst customer service. I thought I have seen bad customer service, till I was serviced, rather abused, in Clinton’s shop. If anyone from Clinton’s is reading this post, and care about your customer, respond to this message and I will tell you what I have experienced in your shop. If I put the details here, it would be stressful for anyone to read.
No refunds just exchanges
No refunds just exchanges. I can't stand it when shops do this. It shouldn't be allowed. The principle of it is underhanded. I have shopped at Clinton's for cards for all occasions since I was a kid. This has changed my mind to shop here now. Such a shame

Something for everyone
I visited the Chichester Clintons and honestly the shop is so beautiful and fresh. There is so much in Clintons and the 2 lovely ladies in green were incredibly smiley and helpful. I recommend going here. The prices are amazing too and there is something for everyone.

Rude worker at London Canary Wharf shopping centre
Today, on December 2, 2024, around 4:00 PM, I visited Clinton Cards at Canary Wharf shopping mall London. I was served by an Asian lady wearing a hijab, and unfortunately, the customer service I received was very poor. She did not greet me with a “hello” or offer any assistance, and her attitude felt cold and dismissive. I had to wait about five minutes for her to assist me, as she was busy chatting with a colleague and did not acknowledge my presence.
When I asked if she could pack the Yankee Candle I purchased to prevent it from breaking, she curtly replied, “We don’t do that here.” This was disappointing, especially since the Yankee Candle store takes the time to wrap items nicely for customers. Overall, I found the service at Clinton Cards in Canary Wharf to be rude and unprofessional, and this experience left a very negative impression.

A confusing number of discount offerings resulted in me being over charged - it’s a principle thing! When I pointed it out I was told ‘there are signs everywhere’ and ‘the signs say enough’. I said I’d be happy to be refunded but the Manager refused, even though there’s a published policy to the contrary. Don’t bother going in the place, the chain is in trouble - no wonder!
Ripped off
Purchased a card and a gift bag. On leaving the store, I thought I had been charged incorrectly. I remembered the card was priced at £4 and the bag £2.50 although I had been charged £7.50.
I returned to the store within 2 minutes and showed the assistant the card from the shelf with a clear red £4 sticker, which she promptly pealed off and said that its happens sometimes. The card I had presented at the counter hadn't got a sticker on so that's what it scanned at. No apology, no offer of refunding me, couldn't have cared less!!
Nice little shop, needs better staff.

A friend and I made a purchase here. The cashier had to go to find a box for it and came back with a similar (but different) item. Admittedly, my friend and I didn't notice this until the next day.
My friend then returned first thing the next morning for a refund, only to be met with no apology for the shop opening late, a cashier that didn't want to help and there was zero understanding that it was a staff error.
It's a lovely little shop but after this experience, we will most definitely be taking our business elsewhere.

No surprise Clintons have Problems
I'm not surprised that Clintons have issues. My experience today was very poor, borderline rude. The two ladies on the till were chatting, both I and my "Good Morning" was ignored for some time before my pile of cards was delt with, I was clearly interrupting them. I was also given a great deal of attitude over payment. I was already holding out my credit card and, looking at it, she asked how was I paying. When I said, "With this card", she quite petulantly said, "Well you could have been paying by cash"! I would hardly be paying by cash if I were holding out a credit card. If Clintons want to know why they are failing they should take a closer look at their staff or perhaps the way they train or incentivise them. Either way, I shall go elsewhere in future.

Thank you very much to the shop manager in Perth St John's Centre today. I advised I wasn't felling well and needed to sit down. She brought a chair, a bottle of water and stayed by me until I felt well enough to leave. Excellent and compassionate service.

Phoned Clinton’s at forte retail on Friday morning to see if they had wedding photo frame as the one in Solihull was damaged the lady was so polite on phone said she would look for it and came back I asked if she could put away till my husband could collect it she did service from her was great customer service she’s an asset to the shop
