It was great until it wasn’t.
I began having problems with receiving voice messages in October 2025. CC said the problem was with ATT, whose network they use. I was extremely patient with their efforts to fix the issue and repeatedly spent hours on the phone with CC tech support.
Issue 1, I repeatedly did not get promised calls from CC’s tier 3 support.
Issue 2; CC was never able to fix the problem of no voice messages service.
Finally I switch to PureTalk, who also uses ATt. When service transferred, my voice mail had the same problem as CC.
I made one phone call to customer service and PureTalk’s tier 1 support identified and fixed the problem.
On top of it all, my monthly bill for same level of voice and data is lower.

They took advantage of my grandparents. They have been with them for years. We decided to cancel service and go with another provider. We were told our last bill would be $49. We paid it and received another bill later stating we owed $55. Their reason for charging $55 was because we closed the account 2 days into the start of a new billing cycle so they charge us for an entire month of service! For 2 days of service!! I definitely wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Find a better prepaid provider!

Switching back to an iPhone from a horrible Galaxy S24 FE was not the smooth transition I expected. As soon as I touched the new phone, Consumer Cellular shut off my android, and, for whatever reason, I could not get a connection to transfer electronically my 38 contacts, which I had to do manually. Furthermore, I was told by an employee that I couldn't access email, voice mail and other things because they weren't "activated." What? I spent more than two days setting up this phone, which is ridiculous and unacceptable. I've been a customer for 14 years. Now I'm wondering why.

We just got our sim cards, we wanted to use the phone we already have, but once we received the sim cards & put them in, it was a snap! We placed the cards into our phones & that was it, service started. I did restart my phone because I had been without a phone for over a year & wanted a clean start. So far we both are very satisfied with the quality and service.

ORDERING THE NEW PHONE WAS FINE . BUT THEN I PAID AN EXTRA $27.00 TO HAVE IT EXPIDITED SHIPMENT FOR A 1-2 DAY DELIVERY . THAT WAS A WAIST OF MONEY . AFTER 4.5 DAYS IT FINALLY SHOWED UP . I had consumer cellular for 5 plus years until I realized they were over charging me my bill for 4 months including all their extra charges for what ever they could come up with was $54.00 but they were charging my credit card over $60.00. I closed my account 9 days into the billing cycle but they charged me for a full month of service saying they don’t prorate their service. Claim to service senior citizens, no they steal from senior citizens.

EDIT: I've amended my review after doing some more research and speaking directly with my UPS driver.
I will give Consumer Cellular and the shipping process 5 stars now. Things were straightened out and explained to me and I'm willing to admit I jumped the gun. However, I think it's quite unfair to the UPS driver, Consumer Cellular, and the customer that UPS HQ/IT/whoever thought it was a good idea to show the "estimated time" the package would arrive to the customer. Absolutely stupid because the driver told me they have no idea about that and what it shows the customer. I used to delivery/service work and I know that throughout the day they constantly add stops or change routes on short notice. It sucks for everyone involved.
Any way, Consumer Cellular is always 5 Star. My UPS driver deserves 5 stars as well. We're all good now.

From beginning to now their whole system/setup is confusing. Thought i was saving money by switching but not true. This is more like aoney grabbing company for the elderly.Thought i was on one plan but they kept switching it up. Customer service reps are also clueless. Cannot solve an issue they can only do what the computer screen twlls them. But the worst is that they charge an extra 5 dollars to be able to pay your bill. I atill cannot wrap my head around that. Five extra dollars for the privilege to pay them will never recommend, work, or even consider saying anything positive.
