Cornwall Council Reviews 

It's that time of year again when I book my holiday in Cornwall. I have visited gorgeous Cornwall for the past 15 years and had some wonderful holidays. Sadly, I will not be visiting Cornwall again since year after year they have increased parking charges. Last year the cost per week had reached £70. This is just plain greed and damaging to the holiday industries that rely on the income generated by the visitors. The Cornish Council is parasitic and the businesses in Cornwall need to get together if they wish prosperity for their businesses.

Today I spoke with Tash from customer services over the phone, and she really helped me through a troubling day today! I also spoke with Jennifer who massively helped with a big situation that I had today also, and she couldn't have done more to help. Their politeness, empathy and professionalism has been very appreciated!

The Homechoice website is really poor, crashing constantly during the bidding cycle. You are unable to get into the bidding page. As if it isn’t bad enough trying to bid for homes when you’re desperate, to then have a website that doesn’t work.

My benefits have been suspended owing to me not receiving the correct correspondence from my pension provider which I don't receive until January each year as I never had this information I couldn't pass it on to them. Their forms are difficult to to fill out anyway and didn't fill any out until I received the correct information. As I didn't want to fill out forms twice. Being 83 years of age disabled and nobody here to help me either.

Being over 70 with medical conditions it’s almost impossible to get the help needed to find a new home through Home Choice
In fact they prefer their clients to look on the open market where they should know rents are out of reach.
I have asked them for specific help or being sign posted to a service who could answer my queries - nothing

Home choice is not fit for purpose, staff are incompetent and lack empathy

Cornwall council allow builders to get away with absolutely anything. Why not protect cornish residents !!!! Wonder why ! My council have been useless dealing with a confirmed breach of planning and siding up with big builders.. again we wonder why

Literal bunch of parasites. They don't care at all about Cornwall residents. They are there for one purpose and one purpose only to extract as much money off of you possible whilst reducing any service they provide which is already close to nothing. Can't pick bins up before 2pm. Graffiti and crack heads all over camborne. Homeless everywhere all over town not getting any real help. Police more interested in harassing people instead of solving actual crimes. they don't answer the phone they don't respond to emails. They want you to fill out there forms in black and white with zero context so they can bill you some more and if you query the bill, who cares because they won't answer the phone or reply to emails.

Money grabbing con artists. We owned an ex Coastline rental property, had to evict tenant who left it like a squat. Taken 9 months to complete sale as Coastline had made errors the original deeds when it was sold to us, they refuse to accept responsibility and it has cost us £1500 to put their mistake right before we could sell. Now Council demanding Council tax for the property of £1350 which was totally uninhabitable while the sale went through but they say it was habitable because it had a kitchen, albeit totally wrecked by the tenant.

Day 3 and no school bus. Day 3 and no formal response to online queries. Day 3 and still waiting for someone to answer the phone after 41 minutes.
If this was a private business, it would be in administration.

Not worth the council tax I pay!
I have had to file multiple complaints reg noisy neighbors. Filled out two noise diaries ( which is two weeks per diary) sent in video clips,photos etc. A letter was sent apparently…which has done nothing. 3 years later still having to endure this. As if this was not enough got new neighbors other side of me whom are now also being noisy. Told to do a noise diary again…. Constantly on annual leave so you’re sat having to wait. Ridiculous! Feel like I have not slept in 3 years while living here. Have had to contact multiple departments at Cornwall council each one more useless than the other.Utterly useless is Cornwall Council.They do not work for the people whatsoever. Happy to receive money that’s about it.

We didn’t want to go through planning , after all it is a bit like going into a police station and admitting speeding !
But we did and we needed help . We phoned and left our details , never expecting a reply . But we did get a reply , firstly from Jayne Stimson , she was so helpful and patient and helped us in submitting the correct scale drawings .
Secondly was a phone call from Matthew Follis , advising us of what we need to do . Both members of the Cornwall Council planning get 5/5 .

Useless , told me I had a second home and will pay double council tax next year....they can't identify where the home is and now ignore me.

The amount of times I have complained at the Cornwall Council highways about damage to the roads and they do absolutely nothing disgusting service secondly damaged my car or my parents are they will be paying for the damage believe me it will happen.

I went there regularly but this one particular day, the worker who always wears a black t. Shirt jumped the counter with 2 sharp carving blades. In all the cuffuffle, I received a black eye during all this. I believe that half of them are illegal in the country which I believe is the same as the other kebab shop, Ramis. I used to live next door to alverton kebab shop for about 6yrs and he regularly owed £1800 for the electric bill and he had his kebab workers ripping out his shop cookers and put new ones in. If I was you, the council, I would go there and really inspect it coz from what I saw, work was being done at midnite. I was given a black eye and dont know what to do about it. He sleeps in the main bedroom and his wife and 4 daughters sleep in the other bedroom except for when he needs his wife for his needs. Totally sick. I think when you come to live in this country, you should live by our rules etc. The way he lives and treats his family is disgusting 🤢

Only interested in taking tourists money. They charge extortionate amounts for for toilets, and parking. Set up speed traps for the awful roads. Glorious part of the world, full of amazing people, being ruined by the council/ policing services.

Moved into a new property over 2 months ago. Ordered bins via the online form and have yet to receive any. As the refuse contractors don't accept other bins or bags, I'm now having to pile garbage bags in the garage, trying to fit in tip runs, making the car smell like garbage... whilst hoping that we don't get infested by rodents in the meantime.

The first order was mysteriously cancelled and then mysteriously reopened, then it was marked as delivered (we never received any bins), then re-ordered twice and a separate "back office" complaint - which apparently may take up to 2 weeks to resolve (2 weeks has long gone).

It's not complex. It's been 60+ days and I just want some bins.

Calling today, I was hoping for some resolution and an "I'm very sorry about that we'll send some out tomorrow as a priority", but was instead met with the warmth of a doctor's receptionist and told to just keep waiting longer as there's a lot of people needing bins.

Cornwall council have been the bane of my life for over 10 years. The landlord services are just dreadful - they are ill prepared/ don’t action complaints/ unprofessional/ incompetent / and do not escalate issues around ASB/littering/ unreported structures alongside stalking and harassment to the appropriate authorities.
For example my neighbour has been Anti-social for over 10 years and has stalked me (he was weekly reporting to the council his actions and where I was/ what times I went to work etc. and that he has applied for a gun licence);, in which the council did nothing and continue to do nothing, but give unprofessional commentary.

I would avoid the council if I were you. Especially if you are vulnerable.

Local residents are continuously being challenged. Living costs are rising, yet our pay is not and the council are making things even harder.

Applied for my local parking permit which I have been assured is £50. They refuse to honour this offer and say I can apply on 6th April for a permit that is £504! The alternative option they gave me is nearly £1000!!

How can local citizens afford to live in their home county?

Diabolically inept. Highways Cornwall refuse to follow their own manual and policy, illegally, delete flooding reports and waste copious amounts of council tax money sending roadmen out to build piles of muddy slop around drains. Management is pathetic and Cormac ‘staff’ are internet trolls. Utterly unprofessional.

We had a particularly difficult situation with a Planning Application and Paul Steen in the Planning Team went well above and beyond what he he needed to, to help us resolve the issue.
The business Climate at present, is very difficult and especially in the Construction Industry, so to have people like Paul Steen representing Cornwall Council Planning was an absolute God Send for us.
