Currys Garthdee refused to replace 12-week-old faulty LG monitor

Bought an LG 27US500-W monitor from Currys Aberdeen Garthdee on 8 June 2026 (product code 0000555307). On 30 August 2026 it developed clear horizontal lines across the whole screen. The laptop driving it is fine, so the fault is the monitor. I have video of it.
I took it back. Staff said it was outside their returns policy and told me to use the manufacturer warranty instead of replacing it.
That “returns policy” is for change of mind. This is a faulty product, only about 12 weeks old. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the contract is with Currys, not LG. A fault within six months is presumed present at sale unless they prove otherwise. They get one chance to repair or replace at their cost. They cannot just send you to LG.
I am not after a refund for changing my mind. I want the faulty monitor replaced as the law requires. Currys would not do that in store.
Would not buy from this branch again until they deal with statutory rights properly instead of hiding behind their own returns window.

DO NOT TRUST CURRYS

DO NOT TRUST CURRYS – Deceptive Sales Tactics at Aberdeen Bridge of Dee
AVOID CURRYS AT ABERDEEN BRIDGE OF DEE. My recent experience with their staff exposed high-pressure sales tactics, blatant dishonesty, and forced recurring subscriptions that I explicitly opted out of multiple times.
What Happened:
1. The Bait-and-Switch on Price: I went in specifically looking to buy the cheapest laptop available. The sales assistant deliberately bypassed cheaper models on the shop floor to steer me toward a much more expensive machine. When I called him out on it, he kept insisting I buy the pricier option and grew quite rude when I held my ground.
2. Forced Recurring Costs: At the checkout, I explicitly and repeatedly stated that I wanted zero recurring costs—no yearly or monthly subscriptions whatsoever. The assistant assured me everything was fine.
3. The Paperwork Lie: When he handed over the paperwork, I checked it and found multiple recurring subscription charges hidden on the invoice. I demanded he remove them. He printed a second invoice, and the unauthorized charges were still there.
4. Escalation: I had to ask for the store manager just to get the sale completed correctly without the unwanted extras the sales assistant had explicitly promised to take off.
The Aftermath:
Despite their explicit promises and the corrected invoice, a month later, an unauthorized recurring charge pinged my account. Now, exactly one year later, Microsoft has cancelled my access because of a subscription I never wanted, never asked for, and was explicitly promised was not attached to my purchase.
Currys staff at this branch rely on confusing customers, ignoring explicit instructions, and sneaking unwanted subscriptions onto bills to pad their numbers.
Check your receipts, avoid this branch, and do not trust their word.
