It's something that no teacher ever thinks they'll have to endure, but good representation is essential when going through a formal process. My initial case worker Colin was excellent. Quick responses when one is dealing with the inevitable anxiety related to it. Most importantly, the caseworkers are highly experienced and knowledgeable. Many are former headteachers so understand the process. The main benefit of Edapt is the legal cover. I had an excellent employment solicitor (Alice) at the hearing. I think this is the best way rather than have a rep who works at the school. When the stakes are high, you want a legal expert. You never think it will happen to you, but the way things are, it could happen to anyone, and not for reasons that are obvious. I got the only outcome I could have hoped for and continue to enjoy working.

The test of a service like Edapt is when you have to call on it. I was able to speak to one of their lawyers very quickly and he was knowledgeable and experienced and offered good advice. He continued to be my contact person at Edapt until things were resolved. I am very pleased to have chosen their service.

I don’t want to be a member or a union because I don’t agree with the politicisation of education and I don’t think teachers should strike- as it harms children’s education and wellbeing.
I have been helped enormously by Edapt. I was able to discuss issues I was having with a caseworker (by email and phone). He was supportive and informed. When it came to a point when action was needed, I was assigned a fantastic lawyer who made sure I was kept updated and in control of what was being said on my behalf. She, and her colleagues, plus my caseworker were fantastic at taking the burden off my shoulders to ensure I had a settlement agreement I was happy with.

I subscribed to Edapt for legal protection as I wanted just that, and not the political aspects of unions.

Their customer care is great - they were always quick to reply to my queries, and I highly recommend them.

I have found Edapt to provide high quality professional advice and I have been extremely well supported by them duing a grievance and other queries. Unlike many education unions they are experts in their field. Their response time is fast and they are responsive and supportive, I would highly recommend them to anyone working in education

Edapt provides exactly what I have been looking for since I became a teacher 20 years ago. Support and protection should I be unlucky enough to be accused of professional misconduct, support and advice in the event of an employment dispute, but not spending my money on lobbying government, stirring up industrial action or posting me endless voting ballot papers. And it's now cheaper than a union membership.

I wanted a non striking political union, the last one I joined with similar standards joined the NUT, so finding Edapt was a relief!

A fantastic source of information and advice. A great alternative if you are not interested in the union approach.

EDAPT have always been professional and quick to reply to my queries and requests. Although I have never had to call on EDAPT for action, I have no reason to doubt that they would have acted with professionalism and integrity.

Absolutely brilliant! I have been with edapt since 2014 and have been very pleased with the back up and support I've received. They have always got back to me swiftly when I've needed them and they've never let me down. There have been times in the modern classroom where I have felt like I'm on my own but Edapt always have some one ready to talk to you and to sort out any problems swiftly. On those days when self doubt has been more stressful than the classroom itself, Edapt have been there. Highly recommended.

Edapt was extremely easy to set up and I felt the price was good value, especially considering there is a discount for part time staff. I never had to use the services of Edapt but felt reassured in case of need, without the political side of union membership.

For the first time in my career, I was accused of harassment by a senior at school. I didn't know how to respond and felt very unsure of my rights. I called Edapt for legal support as a teacher and was looked after from the outset and all the way through. My caseworker was outstanding: friendly, understanding, expert in the field, and so reassuring. Equally, he was always available, responding promptly by phone or email. No matter how difficult the situation became, he was always calm and provided excellent guidance throughout. Without such support I don't think I would have got through what had been the most difficult period in my career. I am very grateful to Edapt.
I joined Edapt originally because they are non-political as well. I had enough of unions taking up extremist causes, often little to do with education. It's refreshing to belong to an Edu-legal service that is there to support its members and give priority to such an important service.
