No samples … Having paid for A5 samples at RHS Sandringham show in July, I did not receive any samples - I’ve chased (via phone) twice and both times been promised that I will get sent samples but a week on from last call, still no samples. I’m giving up and excepting I have paid for nothing … if I can’t even get samples, no point in trying to buy the product!

Easily the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. I’m left out of pocket with an unusable room, no guarantee of a refund and the added expense of buying new paint to do the job over again.

The tins arrived with dried paint all over the rims and streaks of unmixed white paint throughout, I had to paddle mix thoroughly. The application left whitish streaks everywhere. In terms of coverage, I went through an entire 5 litre tin in a modest 22 sq m room and still ran out (had to leave one wall with only a single coat). Both tins began seeping rust into the paint within just a few days. I’ve done a a fair bit of decorating in my life and have never had worse results.

Customer service was slow. After some insistence, the business owner got in touch, claiming to be at a loss to understand what went wrong. Nearly three weeks after my initial complaint and despite me providing multiple photos, videos and answering questions about my paint application process with meticulous details— I still felt blamed and was told that people simply try their paint, change their minds, and expect the company to foot the bill. Quite clearly this is an issue others have reported.

I agreed when asked to return the unused paint for in-house lab assessment. I was contacted by another member of staff with a long paragraph with no punctuation whatsoever, just something incoherent about my return and collection arrangements. Not sure what the next step is.

I need some transparency and still want my return. I asked what testing criteria they plan to use, if it would be an independent lab and if I will receive a copy of the report. The owner shut me down, said she had no interest in answering my questions and instead blamed me some more for not following technical advice regarding the mist coat (I mist coated of course but it wasn't THEIR primer).

Their colours are really beautiful and obviously their paint is better for the environment but I'll never risk a repeat of this experience.

Ordered from Edward Bulmer paint as I was after a natural paint that allowed the walls of my old house to breathe.

Delivery was strange, there was no notification that it was going to be delivered at all so it arrived when i wasn’t at home, and I had to call to reschedule the delivery, so i can understand the frustration others on the reviews have mentioned, although the customer service was fine on the phone (web form didnt get a response)

I am a beginner decorator and this was my first time painting. I first used another brand of paint in the small kitchen and it went perfectly with great coverage. I was then brave enough to try the bedrooms. Edward Bulmer emulsion paint needed 5 coats in one room (I wasn’t changing colours drastically). And it is still a little patchy. In my spare room where I was changing colour drastically, it needed 7 after priming and it is also still a little patchy. I had thought maybe it was my decorating experience, but having read and spoken to others who used the paint this seems like a normal experience.

The paint doesnt smell at all and i am glad that ive been able to get a breathable paint onto the walls but i wont be using this type of paint again

Colour just what I wanted in emulsion paint but the finish is awful. Terrible opacity combined with thick paint. Very difficult to avoid steaks and orange peel effect (and I’m a very experienced painter/decorator). Won’t be using again and will stick to Farrow and Ball or Little Greene which have never failed me

Would never use this paint again. Firstly I was given conflicting advice by 2 members of the team in regards as to how to use the primer and how many coats of paint would be needed on top. The actual paint itself is terrible, we did everything specified on the technical data sheet and used EB primer first and still needed 6/7 coats of paint. Even then it is still patchy and uneven. Awful coverage. We thought perhaps that particular paint colour was from a bad batch and tried another downstairs in our house and had the same experience. I reached out to customer service for help and never heard back from them. Will try enough eco brand next.

I have used the paint on small craft projects previously, it offers beautiful shades and depth of colour. I like the idea of natural healthier paint albeit others offer similar at a lower price point ie Earthborn. I bought several sample pots. Unfortunately the second set of samples (at £20 for 4 ) were off on arrival- reeked, probably due to hot weather. What followed was a painful , protracted customer service experience , initially promising a credit that don't materialise. I gave up and bought paint elsewhere. Over a month to gain a return and refund. But when the manager finally did engage; as I managed to catch her on the phone line, issues were owned promised resolution. I paid to return rancid paint at my expense, tracked. No refund of goods or postage materialised. Emails to customer service without reply. Having to raise a bank dispute. This is the kind of customer service you expect from a dodgy offshore company, not designer UK paint. Appalling.

Put me off purchasing the product to decorate other rooms in the house or any other projects. Sticking to Earthborn .

First experience of buying and using Edward Bulmer paint. Whilst the colour is just what I wanted and there is definitely no odour, the paint quality is not good. Despite excellent preparation of the walls and an experienced painter, the paint finish is disappointing. Far too many coats required to get an even coverage. Durability is poor. It scuffs and marks easily. It’s an expensive paint and does not compare well to others like Farrow and Ball. I would not recommend and will not use again.

This was my first experience ordering directly from Edward Bulmer and never again. My interior designer uses their products and like them; maybe trade clients get a different experience. As a retail customer placing a top-up order, it has not been good at all. I ordered two cans of paint; one was delivered in the wrong colour. I don't know why they don't check their orders. The replacement was delivered but the collection of the incorrect tin hadn't been booked. So now they're trying to ask me to wait in again while their mistake is collected.

I am so pleased with the paint I ordered from Edward Bulmer. Beautiful colour. Easy to apply and the minimum odor. My husband is soooo sensitive to paint smell and freak out every time when we paint a room, but this paint really gave us peace of mind as the odor was minimum and didn't last long. So pleased with this paint and look forward to decorating more with this brand paint without fear of headache caused by paint odor

Edward Bulmer paint has been a very tricky product to work with. Etheral Blue emulsion very thick, dried very quickly on application and inconsistent on the wall. I ended up having to buy twice as much to finish project. AND the really crippling cost part was paying x 2 decorators an extra 2 days labour because it needed 4 coats for a nice finish!!!! We ended up watering it down which worked quite well. Edward Bulmer customer service appreciated the feedback but were not that bothered …or probably surprised!! APC delivery were also rubbish as per the below review. On a positive end note the eggshell for the woodwork was a lovely product and we hardly used any!

We were over charged for our paint because a discount code didn't apply. We reached out to them multiple times but they're ignoring us. Awful service.

Sample pots arrived quickly and the paint is beautiful. Will be ordering a full pot, can’t wait to see the whole room completed.

Paint has not arrived despite paying for fast delivery again! The excuse from APC is always that we were not at home and then they don't redeliver for days. On previous occasions the paint is not delivered at all and we have to change couriers. We have used this paint for a couple of years now and each time the paint does not arrive on time with the same problem each time.

Update on this order. It was delivered the following day but the incorrect paint was in the box - pretty sloppy service and very off putting for future projects.

Terrible customer service. Paid for next day delivery on Sunday. Emailed yesterday to check when it was arriving. Got a fairly vague response. Now 10pm on Tuesday and my paint still hasn’t arrived. I’ve sent two further emails this evening, but no response as yet.

Update - Wednesday morning I had to call them, as they had still not responded to my emails. I’m told there was a problem with the courier yesterday. But they didn’t contact me yesterday to tell me. They still can’t tell me when my paint will arrive, and they’re not prioritising it in any way. It is only 5 miles from my house. When I suggested they got someone to bring it on the tube, or a different courier service to bring it, the lady on the phone reacted with horror. There is no sense that they feel sorry for letting me down, or that they are going to do anything to sort this out quickly. They are due to contact me when they know which “slot” I have today. No idea if they’ll bother…
