It's always about relationships first…
It's always about relationships first in any business requiring a high level of trust, especially if you are not really savvy about financial matters beyond every day banking. We have been with C. Horcoff for about 30 years now. She listened and was responsive to our needs from day one. We laugh a lot. We consider her a friend. We know enough to not freak out at market volatility and together we've managed to make it through rough spots and recover and see good returns.
16 years & running
I picked this company over fifteen years ago for my first foray into having a financial advisor. I have never regretted that decision. I started off with only a few thousand dollars and with consistent deposits, a few lump sum additions, and great foresight from my advisor in picking the right stocks and mutual funds, it has grown to 10x that amount! My advisor is kind, understanding, and listens well to the things I worry about, helps me to make solid realistic future planning, and is careful about where my money is being invested. She is good about checking up on me yearly, giving me suggestions about how to do better, she always makes herself available if I need her. I'm so glad that I made the decision a long time ago to hire Edward Jones for my financial advising.
Lastly, I should mention that I am in the Flint, Michigan area, and my great advisor is Karen Strader.
My experience with Edward Jones was…
My experience with Edward Jones was that they are highly skilled salespeople first and foremost—and that their loyalty seemed to be to Edward Jones rather than to me as the client.
I came to realize that I wanted a true fiduciary relationship where my interests came first, and that there are other firms and advisors with very different fee structures and approaches. The fees I was paying were extremely high, and I wish I had understood the full cost sooner.
I am incredibly grateful that I educated myself enough to recognize that I had other choices and got out when I did.
Do your research before entrusting your retirement savings to anyone. Understand exactly what you're paying in fees and expenses, and don't be afraid to ask hard questions or get a second opinion.
And if you're being told that you just need to give it "a few more months" for things to turn around, take a step back and investigate your alternatives before accepting that explanation.
I learned an expensive lesson—but I'm grateful I learned it before it cost me even more
Be especially beware of inhouse products/ services they " offer" sell!!!!!

If you want to deal with amateurs that…
If you want to deal with amateurs that are nothing more than a lackey for their HO, then this is your company. I asked the rep about fees and commissions and she said it was imbedded and I wouldn't see it. That's BS. I have now lost almost $20K in cash value on my T Bond. She basically lied to me. This is definitely the worst financial company that is out there. Stay far away from them.

I've tried several managed financial services, and EJ so far is the best. At least the guy who runs my portfolio.
Transferring out of EJ is a nightmare!!!!
I was happy with my advisor and when he left EJ I wanted to go with him. Trying to get my money and investments transferred over from EJ was a nightmare. My smaller accounts were transferred with a little delay but my largest account took over a month to transfer and I was constantly getting a runaround from them with various unsubstantiated excuses. It is funny how the transfer into EJ was quick and seamless but when trying to transfer out they put roadblocks up and used delay tactics. I just want to point out that the advisor that took over my account when my initial advisor left was very helpful and tried her best to help expedite the transfer but their back office was not helpful at all. I had to resort to calling their customer relations to try to get some answers but it still took awhile. Based on this experience I would never recommend EJ to anyone.
When you wake up and you are ready to…
When you wake up and you are ready to move away from Edward Jones, be ready for a fight. This company makes everything so difficult. The branch office wants to blame the home office and vice versa. It should not take 30 days to move from one company to another. Don't be fooled by the fees. Learn how to do math, Edward Jones is EXPENSIVE and for what, you can get the same advice from google

Would give negative stars if I could
Would give negative stars if I could! I had an account with Edward Jones since i was a teen. I’m now 48. When I received my most recent statement I saw the account value said $0. When I looked at the activity it said it was transferred to escreatment. I called for an explanation they said a letter had been sent out saying that I needed to take some kind of action to consider the account active. Since there was no “activity” on the account it was liquidated and sent to the state. I called the state to ask them to send it back to Edward jones but they said Edward Jones would have to submit a holder refund request to the state to get the funds back. I informed Edward Jones and requested they do so, but they refused. Edward Jones obviously does not want to keep their long time loyal clients. The only thing they do is send a letter and hope something happens. I get they have to follow state law but If I was one of their advisors and I had a $35k account about to go bye bye I would knocking on my clients door at midnight to make sure they knew. I guess I’m not worth keeping so when I finally get my money from the state that is now sitting there earning nothing, I will be happy to take it somewhere else. The account was set to reinvest dividends. As far as I’m concerned that is ACTIVITY!!
Unsuitable advice, locked out of our accounts, regulatory violations. Read before you invest.
Trusted Edward Jones and advisor Shane Jacksteit with most of my savings (including retirement). A deeply troubling experience others should know about.
My husband and I have had numerous issues with Edward Jones but here are some major ones.
In late 2024, I was recommended to roll over a substantial retirement balance from my employer 401(k) into Edward Jones IRAs. No alternatives were discussed. No comparative analysis of fees, tax consequences, or legal protections was provided. The rollover form was presented for a quick signature after the rollover recommendation had already been made and the decision had been influenced by Mr. Jacksteit's framing. The rollover was advisor-initiated but the form was phrased as client-initiated, and does not reflect our phone conversation. The same form contains a printed acknowledgement that the advisor has a financial incentive to recommend rollovers because they generate compensation for Edward Jones and the advisor. This conflict was never disclosed before the recommendation was made.
Significant stock positions were sold citing diversification, but proceeds sat uninvested for over a year with no reinvestment plan. Commissions were not disclosed. When we sought to transfer accounts elsewhere, we were told everything required liquidation, with no distinction between transferable and non-transferable assets, causing unnecessary tax consequences.
Edward Jones denied all wrongdoing. The dispute was escalated to the Managing Partner, Chief Compliance Officer, and General Counsel. No response was received from any of them.
Our accounts were also closed during active dispute without any prior notice. We have been locked out of our client portal for months and cannot access our own statements, tax documents, or transaction records. Our repeated requests for these documents and restoration of portal access have been ignored.
Call recordings that would show what was actually discussed have not been produced despite repeated requests. Edward Jones paid a $50 million SEC penalty in August 2024 specifically for failing to preserve electronic communications. That pattern continues. In December 2022, FINRA fined Edward Jones $1.1 million for purging phone records, misrepresenting to FINRA that records were unavailable, and failing to alert FINRA once it learned of its own failures.
Edward Jones has also faced the following verified regulatory actions: a $17 million NASAA multi-state settlement in January 2025 for moving clients into fee-based advisory accounts without adequate supervision (the same pattern of conduct my husband and I experienced); a December 2024 FINRA action requiring $4.4 million in restitution for mutual fund overcharges; and a June 2025 NASAA settlement in which Edward Jones was found to have charged more than $11 million in excessive commissions on over 780,000 small-dollar trades, the largest share among five firms sanctioned. As of today, Edward Jones has on record 173 regulatory actions and 150 arbitrations. These are not isolated incidents. Edward Jones has continued to face sanctions despite prior penalties, suggesting these practices are systemic rather than accidental.
Complaints have been filed with multiple regulatory bodies. Our experience with Edward Jones has been evasive, dismissive, and feels very predatory toward clients who are unaware of their rights. Approach this firm with extreme caution.
I invested $200K with this company…
I invested $200K with this company through Dan Flanders. He told me there were no fees. He did not deposit $200K into my account. When I quickly checked my account there was a lot less than $200K in it. I consider fees costs to my account. Mr Flanders knows this. Yet he wants to play symantics about what the word fees mean. Why did he not invest the full $200K?

I’ve moved to the Edward Jones office…
I’ve moved to the Edward Jones office in Penticton several years ago. For me it was the best financial decision I could have made. Justin has made my retirement years a breeze. Although I had some training in this field, he was able to invest my money so that I never have to worry. In my first visit he showed me best case & worst case scenarios that would allow me to live my best life. I would not hesitate to encourage others to meet with Justin & find out it it’s a fit for them.
Edward Jones commissions. Beware
In my Ed Jones IRA I wanted to sell a fidelity mutual fund and purchase a fidelity ETF. My local guy was in training so I was forwarded to home office. entered the trade and was informed that it would be $1000. I wanted to make the trade and went ahead with the trade. an hour later I changed my mind and tried to stop the trade. My fault. I didn't understand the fee structure. I've moved both mine and my wife's IRA to Fidelity. If I made the same trade there it would have been free. beware of Ed Jones. they are heavily fee based. they will put you in products that pay them the highest commissions. I'm completely self directed now and have been doing much better. They are only sales men. they do not sell cars but trust them the same.
My husband's parents were foolish…
My husband's parents were foolish enough to leave sticky fingered EJ as trustees of their sons 4m inheritance. They have run him to death with form-filling requiring 27k paid cash in funeral expenses to be reimbursed. Misinformed him the duration of time we've had the misfortune to have them. Underpaid him for' contingency' unexplained. Last but not least when he asked for provision to buy a new home, first thing his father wanted for him he was told the trust would have to consider if it were 'in his best interest.' We're 70. Treated like a child trying to put it's hand in the cookie jar. Appalling people. Avoid at all costs. Fees, plenty, fiduciarys l doubt it.
Check issue
I opened my account April 9 and two weeks later I had an unexpected expense, so two weeks later I needed a larger amount of my own money. My financial advisor, who had left the company in the meantime, was unable to get the requested amount transferred to my bank account. The head office issued me a check, which was mailed without a tracking number!!!!!! I asked to receive the check as quickly as possible, but they did not fulfill this request, citing some kind of referral letter!! I have not received my own money to this day and this is outrageous!!! The company refers to all kinds of referral letters, which were not disclosed to me when opening the account! This is a very inappropriate service! This is my experience and this is true!

I had 3 mill with EJ and they are the most clueless ignorant people ever. I would like to use other words but this would never get posted. I pulled my $ out exactly 10 mos later and am very very happy I did. DO NOT DO IT .
Embarrassingly Bad Experience
I’ve had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Edward Jones (Santa Rosa, CA), specifically working with Financial Advisor Justin C. Pigeon and his office.
The funds in question were inherited following my father’s death, which makes this situation all the more difficult and upsetting. What should have been handled with care, professionalism, and efficiency has instead become a prolonged and stressful process stretching out over months.
I live and work in the UK, and it has become clear that the office has a very limited understanding of how international banking operates. A straightforward international wire transfer has turned into a drawn-out ordeal, with repeated delays, unclear communication, and no apparent sense of urgency to conclude things.
Though they are nice people, I find it very concerning there is a serious lack of basic operational competence. Rather than completing a simple transfer, I have been sent physical documents by post to sign—untracked—which take weeks to arrive (if they arrive at all). This has significantly delayed access to funds and added unnecessary uncertainty to an already difficult time.
The process is now stretching beyond six months, which is completely unacceptable. It does not inspire confidence in their ability to manage even relatively standard financial matters, particularly where international clients are concerned.
Given that my parents paid for these services, this experience has been especially disappointing. I would strongly caution others—particularly those based outside the U.S.—to think carefully before relying on this office for financial advising or fund management.
A deeply frustrating experience at a time when better support should have been a given.
Good Early Support, but Unable to Recommend Due to Communication Approach
I worked with Kevin Neaves for several years and initially had a positive experience. He provided guidance that I found helpful and appeared to act in my best interest.
However, during a recent discussion regarding a potential conflict of interest related to a 401(k) rollover, the interaction shifted in a way that gave me pause. After initially agreeing to move forward with the rollover, I revisited the decision a couple of months later following a job change and relocation. With these changes, I wanted to better understand potential conflicts of interest before proceeding. His response to this felt defensive and included remarks that I perceived as dismissive of my inquiry. This made it difficult to have a constructive, open dialogue around an important financial decision.
I take responsibility for how I phrased my question and recognize it could have been more precise. That said, I believe clients should be able to ask questions about conflicts of interest and receive clear, professional, and respectful responses.
Because of this experience, I no longer feel confident recommending his services. Open, transparent communication is essential in an advisory relationship, and this interaction did not meet that standard for me.
I do appreciate the support Kevin provided earlier in our engagement. Since then, I have transitioned to a different advisor who better aligns with my preference for collaborative and transparent discussions when making financial decisions.
