ELR made selling my house easy! From the initial valuation through to completion, there was constant, efficient communication. Their proactive chasing of other involved parties saved me a lot of time and hassle.

ELR were the estate agents for our sellers, but the sales negotiator - Leah Bell -was our source of knowledge about all the transactions in the whole of our chain. She was more forthcoming about progress/holdups than our own agents and kept us informed when things were dragging on ...and on... and on! She certainly appeared to do more than anyone to keep the whole thing on track.

We are never ever moving again (!) but if we were I would want Leah to be looking after our sale .

I approve of ELR's ethos of keeping stakeholders informed and advised of realistic options, throughout the whole buying/selling process and of their willingness to go above and beyond in keeping their clients updated.

We sold our late father’s home through ELR and we could not be happier with how everything was handled. Leah kept us updated at every stage and was very efficient as well as being very thoughtful about the emotion tied to the situation. The apartment sold very quickly and at the right price.

Great service from ELR as a purchaser. Andy Ling was superb both as a communicator but also his professionalism and very pragmatic approach to getting the sale completed. It wasn’t without its challenges towards the end, which is not uncommon, however knowing Andy was handling it for the vendor was a real relief. I simply cannot overstate how much ELR changed our lives and got us out of a massive rut. Simply cannot recommend them highly enough.
Following some poor advice (from another agent) and some naiveté on our part, we had been sitting on the 'for sale' market for a couple of years. We had tried a couple of prices, some different descriptions and pictures, and had had some near misses, but fundamentally we were stalled. A move triggered by our youngest leaving Primary School threatened still to be dragging on when she took her GCSEs. Our elder kids no longer believed. Our dreams of a new social circle, bars and cafés within a walk of our new address, and our hopes to move into a specific house with which we had fallen in love had all become an uncomfortable subject in our house. We were thoroughly fed up with living in a state of perfect viewing readiness without having much confidence that the next bit, and actual move, would ever happen. Then I called ELR.
I am not good with confrontation, and hate sacking people. But had the 'right, one last go and then we will give up' conversation. I pulled on my big boy pants, fired our existing estate agent, and put in a call to someone we had never used before, purely based on reviews and them being a smaller, hopefully more engaged and 'bespoke' company.
I dropped in, met Judy, and made an appointment for a valuation. Judy was charming, well-informed and clearly knew the local market inside out. She also seemed really to understand my position. She booked me in for a valuation with Tim Venn. I was warned that he was excellent - but would be honest. I replied that that is exactly what we need.
Tim arrived at the appointed time and delivered a perfect valuation experience - he was polite, bang on time, very personable, and spent a reassuring amount of time, both on the house and with me. He was charming as all heck, but also came armed with an impressively deep knowledge of the local market and wider trends, as well as a sheaf of data and paperwork to back up his opinions. He was relatively relaxed about the number at which we market our house (I was, inevitably, still suffering aftershocks of previous bad (and optimistic) advice). But Tim did give me the sale price number which he thought we would achieve and, in response to my slightly-desperate questioning, gave me a timescale he thought would be realistic if we took his advice on marketing and pricing. We were having this conversation in April 2025, at which point I was still locked in to my previous estate agent. But Tim thought a Christmas move should be doable. I had not heard any concrete good news on the house sale front in some time. I'll skip to the end with a spoiler alert: our eventual sale price was within £10k of Tim's anticipated sales figure (so a margin for error of barely 1%), and we moved into our dream home on 10th December, in time to buy a Christmas tree. It was just over five months from first saying 'yes' to signing with ELR to completing on our sale.
ELR's onboarding process was very quick and efficient, photography and floorplans happened very swiftly, as did an updated EPC, all the professionals involved were top drawer and did what they said they would when they said they would.
Judy and her team (Lucy Chapman was our principal point of contact, although Jane and the others were excellent) were spot on throughout. Marketing materials were accurate, speedily with us for approval, and then in the window and online when they had said they would be, and then we got a steady stream of viewings (having had two in the preceding six months with our previous agent).
We had a range of genuine in interest and accepted an offer (after multiple viewings) in September. I was still saying 'Christmas move, please!' and ELR kept working towards that, despite some scepticism elsewhere in the chain. At one point we had a major wobble in the chain, deep in the Autumn, and I thought 'here we go again'. I had a very frank telephone conversation with Lucy (apologies if I was stressed blunt at one point) and ended the call worried. Lucy's parting line - 'leave it with me, I'll call you back' has entered our family lexicon. Lucy should really be negotiating global arms treaties or something - she called back a short while later, all problems had disappeared, we had not had to give ground on the money (I had been convinced I was about to spend a chunk of money just to keep everyone else sweet) and we had even got our preferred timescale, a feat which had looked unwinnable. I will never know how Lucy achieved that miracle, but suffice to say I wish she could negotiate everything for me.
This review is already too long, so I will summarise: if you are selling a house in or around Bakewell, and are not using ELR, then you are doing it wrong. They even do Fizz Friday. And they're lovely people, too.

We've had a great time buying our first home with ELR. Megan is lovely and very professional, she always kept us in the loop and was happy to help us inexperienced buyers. She was very enthusiastic and personable, which is very much appreciated in what can be a stressful time.

Great service, it’s as simple as that. We have used ELR for both the sale of our property and also the purchase of our next one and the communication and effort has been amazing.

We have had a great experience with ELR, we are currently renting with them after pulling out of buying a house with a different estate agent.
They have been excellent really quick responses to emails, lovely staff (especially Mark who we have been dealing with) and calls to check how we were getting on with applications. The whole process was smooth, which after dealing with other estate agents in the past who were no were near as good, I was pleasantly surprised. They were also very accommodating in choosing dates which worked for us to collect keys, and quick to get back to us when our offer was accepted. I would be pleased to see them as the estate agent on a future property when we look to buy, and I would definitely use them for future sales.

Well what can we say! Debra, Michael and Megan have been amazing. House on the market for just 9 days. Always at the end of the phone or email. Always there with answers. 100% recommend ELR Rotherham!
