TD Expedia: Bait and Switch Pricing

I’ve held a TD Expedia credit card for the past five years, and my experiences with their booking system have been quite frustrating. Each time I attempt to use their website, I have encountered significant discrepancies in pricing. It’s alarming how frequently the recap page reflects price changes ranging from $600 to $800, often without any clear explanation.

They constantly advertise savings with messages like “GOOD NEWS: the price of your package has decreased by xxx.xx dollars, book now.” However, clicking through to the next page usually reveals that the price has ballooned far beyond what was initially advertised. This inconsistency feels misleading at best.

When trying to resolve these issues by contacting customer service, I’m met with vague responses such as “the system isn’t synced” or “the hotels/flights aren’t synced.” This back-and-forth seems like a classic bait-and-switch tactic, leaving me feeling deceived and frustrated.

It isn’t easy to comprehend how such practices are permissible. When purchasing high-ticket items, like cars or clothing, online, we don’t typically face such drastic last-minute price fluctuations. I truly believe that there should be a serious investigation into this brand by the Ontario Travel Industry Council. Transparency and honesty are crucial, especially in the travel industry, and my experience with TD Expedia suggests a concerning lack of both.

If you value straightforward and reliable travel booking, think twice before using TD Expedia. My experiences have led me to explore alternative options in the future.

The worst customer service

The worst customer service. I'll never book another trip/hotel through expedia ever again. I tried changing my reservation dates minutes after booking with no success. I tried calling and all i was told was to contact the hotel. I contacted the hotel and they said I needed to talk to expedia. I tried emailing. Still no response. I tried chat on the app.Still the same run around. Expedia has the worst customer service!

Worst Travel Website Ever!!!

This has to be the worst travel website, I've come across.
It's further proof that almost everyone on here has given a rating of 1 star (including my rating).
It's been almost 2 weeks since I've requested on getting my refund I've purchased flying with Air France. All they tell me is they can't reach the airlines. This isn't small change. It's $3,583.03 CAD.
Then they tell me, they have reached out to them and escalated this matter and will get back to me.
Once they reached they airline, they tell me to wait again. Absolutely garbage service.

Now I have to wait until next Tuesday to see if I even get my refund.

There is a reason why. this site has bad ratings and nothing is being done to improve their service.
They are not embarrassed at all.
Their best response is "I'm sorry you feel that way."
Definitely not recommending them to anyone.
Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

If you want to have a bad flight book through this Expedia . booked a flight with them to discover that I have my connection flight start boarding 10 mints after arrival, landed in one end of Amsterdam-airport the connection flight at the other end ,, I missed my flight. Tried to call Expedia for 1hr. No luck. After 3 hrs I was able to reach Canada air and booked me on the next flight..
today is the return trip.. I have to 1st check-in at Istanbul airport, then again collect my baggage’s in Geneva airport,and do a 2nd check-in !! Can you imagine check in in every airport.. when called Expedia they say this is a condition in your returned flight!! It has been the worst flight ever in my life. Never again using Expedia,, my account will be deactivated after this trip.

Excellent cstomer care

We had booked 2 rooms at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel on the Saturday of the May long weekend.
The night before our arrival, my husband experienced a coronary emergency and was admitted to hospital.
I called Expedia the morning of our reservation and explained the situation. Within 10 minutes, our Expedia customer care rep (Jazz) had secured a full refund for the rooms. The credits appeared on our credit card that same day. Needless to say, we were over the moon and very grateful for the refund.

The worst website ever for any bookings especially for car rentals. They should be ashamed of themselves of posting car rent advertisemnt from scammer companies. They are for sure aware of these companies and just receiveng their comissions. Big tourist scams

Poorest service ever leading to customer frustration and fraud

I booked three vacation packages for family. Two confirmation received and one is missing in the online account.Message them and were told to call hotel directly with phone number. The number is not useable as the hotel reservation does not pick up the call for weeks. Finally dial online button it wire to a 1800 scam number telling certain payments are missing.
Will never book with Expedia again after reflecting the whole situation as I think it is all connected. First missing confirmation then not confirming booking with suggestion a number never answering call. At last direct to a scammer phone while scammer has all information I did not even tell them including all packages booking numbers, all travellers numbers, cost etc. btw, the Expedia confirmed that one confirmation is missing in the online accounts and have robot answering to call hotel for confirmation. I am wondering why they cannot have someone confirming the booking and open the door for future scamming?

Took my money, didn't provide any service

I purchased a return ticket from Canada to Australia through Expedia. The airline had staffing trouble while I was in Australia and wasn't able to get me back. Expedia just said bad luck, even though we took your money, we will not help you at all. We won't refund you and we won't get you back to Canada or provide any assistance.

I will never give these clowns any of my money ever again

Expedia allows fake hotels such as Midtown East Luxury & Comfort to be listed on its website, even the address (164 E 53rd St. New York) and pictures provided by the hotel are completely fake. Expedia only cares about making money and doesn't care about the customer at all!

Expedia = crooks

First, good luck trying to actually speaking to a human when u have a complaint. I had to go looking to finally find an email to chat with someone. At the end I basically got a “sucks to be you” response.
Second, if you do start an email chat, it won’t likely end with a favorable decision. During my recent/final interaction with Expedia, I received replies from several different people & the answers were not consistent. My complaint was being charged in US dollars even though when I booked it said “CA” which I took for Canadian dollars. One of the replies said I was actually billed in Brazilian dollars…wtf? Where did that come from? Another said “yes, CA means Canadian but that’s not what ended up happening. Sorry for the confusion”. So instead of paying ~$2,450 as I should have, I’m out $3,700!!!! Expedia = crooks!

I booked a car rental through Expedia

I booked a car rental through Expedia. The rental car needed service. The rental car company entered a three day credit because of this issue. I watched the manager enter the credit in the computer. The rental company warned there were issues with Expedia delaying refunds and they were prepared to issue a credit directly. I instructed to just put it through Expedia. No credit so I contacted Ecpefia. Expedia refused refund and said the rental company didn’t authorize a credit and repeatedly refused. I had to ask to speak to a supervisor but ultimately Expedia just issued a credit. It’s taken over a month. Expedia did fix it but it took effort and threats by me.

We rented a car for our stay in Sao…

We rented a car for our stay in Sao Miguel through Expedia and opted for the insurance they offered. What they don't explain that this insurance is double jeopardy in that the event of an accident I have to pay all damages with car rental agency and then hope for refund from their insurance provider. If this was disclosed from the onset I would've declined. I did try to cancel before renting but it didn't go through. As well it wasn't clear if I should've been able to qualify for the insurance as I was over 70. What the car rental agency offers was far superior and less costly over all. Will never use Expedia for anything again as they just want your money and no chance for customer service.

I will never use expedia again

I will never use expedia again. I booked a hotel through their website that had free cancelation. The day after I booked I canceled...a week before reservation. The next day they charged my card. After calling they told me the hotel took the money and they have a no cancelation policy and it was a glitch in expedia website. After a week of back and forth emails they finally tell me they will refund. Then two days later another email saying they won't. It's been a nightmare.

Un hôtel a annulé ma réservation…

Un hôtel a annulé ma réservation Expédia à moins de 48 heures d’avis en prétextant que j’avais demandé l’annulation. L’hôtel était payé d’avance depuis deux mois. Cause probable: l’hôtel a loué ma chambre à quelqu’un pour qui une commission payée à Expedia n’était plus nécessaire. L’hôtel étant complet, j’ai dû chercher ailleurs. Aucun soutien d’Expédia.

Dans tous les cas, il est préférable de réserver directement avec l’hôtel.

Deux mauvaises expérience avec expédia

Deux mauvaises expérience avec expédia. Le montant que m'a chargé Expédia en réservant à l'avance des motels est beaucoup plus cher que le montant que j'aurais payé si je n'avais pas passé par cette entreprise qui ne rembourse pas ses clients et offre un très mauvais service à la clientèle. J'ai payé plus de 20% du prix chargé en passant par ce supposé service de meilleurs prix et meilleurs offres. Plus jamais je n'utiliserai ce service de réservation.
