They failed to endorse my insurance check it in-time!
The mortgage services were fairly well. My rating is influenced by their poor performance when it came to Insurance claim check endorsement. They failed to endorse it in-time. Been waiting on them for a month before I learned they didn't bother to endorse my check! Provided tons of reasons and deadlines, which all btw were met. Highly disappointed by their incompetence and fishy approach. Shame on you Flagstar!
Stay away!
Stay away from this company. They bought out my mortgage and Ive had nothing but trouble from them. Customer service is horrible and the staff are incompetent. I send my payments via online banking. My bank sends them a check every month to the same address. Someone at Flagstar misplaced my check and it was fraudently cashed. They took no accountability. As a result it took months to get the money back which resulted in them reporting me to the credit bureau as 30 days late every month since they were posting my monthly payment for the previous month. There is nobody available in the credit reporting dept other than via email. Ive submitted documentation twice as evidence and I keep getting a generic letter that refuses to correct it. My mortgage has since been sold to another company thank goodness, however my credit has been ruined at no fault of mine. Im going to be forced to seek legal action to get it corrected. Ive never experienced such poor service from a company.
Illegally held insurance money, failed to respond to fiscal demands in required legal timeframe
Had massive damage to my house from a weather event. As per policy, homeowners insurance claim checks had to be sent to mortgagor after I cosigned. They have been extremely difficult to deal with to get inspectors out to evaluate repairs to pay contractors. Once they finally did, and I received additional checks from my insurance specifically for an updated adjustment by the insurance company based on higher contractor costs they would not release the funds, "declined". I spoke to a supervisor who asked that I give them five days to review and potentially release the funds and never heard back. Called on the 6th day and they refused to handle it anymore as they had sold the loan to a new company who says I need to wait 10 days until they can even access the information from the claim/inspection/funds. Look out for communication from my lawyer, scumbags.
The worst ever
Flagstar is a rude and greedy financial institute. My loan was sold to them, and they cannot wait to sell my loan to Mr. Cooper just after 6 months of having my loan payments. They denied my recast option even though there were still 45 days left before the transfer date to process the recast. Right after the transfer date, the mortgage customer service phone number no longer even allows me to talk to a representative. They have two customer service numbers, 18009687700, this is the one that sends you to self service if your loan is BEING transferred out; 18882486423, where you may get through the matrix to talk to a mortgage representative.
No interest in fraud activity
A third party on the internet sent me a beautiful but fake check drawn on Flagstar Bank. Two of the local branches reviewed the faxed copy and told me it was not a real check. However when I called the corporate offices they had no interest in helping to follow up on the person who continues to perpetrate this fraud using Flagstar, even though I have phone numbers and information on addresses and names of people involved. They don't give a damn and from the reviews I've seen here Flagstar should be avoided at all costs.
I have experienced some horrific…
I have experienced some horrific situations with Flagstar. For the past month, quite a few transactions have been denied & that includes depositing pay from my employer. I have NEVER seen a bank operate so poorly. I will be closing my account ASAP. Do NOT do any type of business with them. They have no clue about banking.
Such a horrible experience with this…
Such a horrible experience with this bank. If you have a question or need to speak to someone it's like falling into a black hole. If you want to talk to the credit department you have to fax them. Seriously, come into the 21st century! They have sold my mortgage to another company, I hope it's a better experience there! Do not do business with Flagstar!
Everything
Everything. Flagstar should not be in business. They only care about themselves and not there customers. They refuse to answer emails. When they call you to give them a call back about your issue. When you call back Flagstar gives you the run around. Go to Capital One. They treat you like a real person.
I requested self escrow on $179k home…
I requested self escrow on $179k home loan. They denied me saying $230k loan was "high priced loan" and denied me. $230k is not an average morthage loan, nor was the interest rate at 1.5% over APR. They called today to say they "incorrectly denied" my escrow waiver request. AND WILL CHARGE A FEE OF $150 OR .25% OF LOAN BALANCE TO GET MY OWN MONEY BACK!
Racist and rude
Racist and rude. Beware of these criminals. They bought my mortgage and never notified me properly and turned off my auto pay. As I was out of the country I didn’t notice my mortgage payment stopped auto drafting. When I called them I immediately paid but they didn’t remove the blemish from my report. It was the only time I was ever late on a mortgage payment in 15 years. The customer service team was extremely racist and acted like they were the victim. I’ve been requesting removal of this blemish from my credit report for 16 months straight and they’ve been nothing but racist, rude and inflammatory. I’ve got screenshots as proof and will continue to post them all over the internet.
They really don’t even deserve one…
They really don’t even deserve one star. I had two bank accounts, there one liquidated and one not. I open the accounts when they were New York bank, and needless to say they switched it to Flagstar. It was time to renew my accounts. I sat down with Camila from TomsRiver New Jersey and She helped me decide to move most of my money into the non-liquidated and leave whatever I needed in the liquidated. I was told I would still get the percentage I was getting did the paperwork and everything was fine. I get a phone call today stating that I have to put my liquidated account into a non-liquidated account because they don’t carry them anymore. Long story short, they lied to me so I would renew my non-liquidated account. I do not trust Flagstar and as soon as my contract is up, I will be removing all my money. I will never bank with them again.
Just opened a new savings account to…
Just opened a new savings account to get the best interest rate possible. Not very trusting when it comes to banks. 😩 FDIC insured, so I’ll hold the feds responsible if they loose my money.
Fraudulent bank procedures
I tried eight times to open an account with Flagstar. In the process, the site froze, at the same location every time. I contacted the bank and talked to an agent to determine if any of the accounts had gone through. He said "No." He wanted me to go through setting up an account with him on the phone. I did. The site froze at the same location, again. I decided if they had glitches in the set up process, where else were there glitches and decided to NOT open an account.
Several days later, I receive THREE email congratulating me on opening accounts. THREE when I did not even complete the process for one!
I called and talked to a rep. She said she would write up a case and have my money refunded. Nothing happened. I called the bank again the next day. Same response. She would follow up and have the bank refund my money. Nothing happened.
I called again today. They can't refund me the money. I have to request the accounts be closed and pay a penalty for early closure! They can decide if they want to close my account or not! If they decide to close the account, I will be charged an early termination fee.
They steal my money, then I have to pay to get it back!
False reporting of missed payments.
FlagStar bank's actions are highly questionable and concerning. Despite receiving and depositing payments after a completed loss mitigation process, their false reporting of missed payments to credit bureaus is a blatant misrepresentation of facts. Such conduct not only undermines the integrity of the loss mitigation process but also raises serious questions about the bank's ethical practices. It is appalling that an institution entrusted with financial responsibilities would engage in such deceptive behavior, potentially causing significant harm to individuals' credit standings. The fact that legal action is being pursued underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for accountability. FlagStar's actions, if proven, should be condemned and met with appropriate consequences to deter such unacceptable conduct in the future.
They were great until they weren't
My 3 stars is actually above average for this company, but I'm definitely writing this with a bad taste in my mouth.
I see right now that they have made some changes, merging with NYCB, and are offering a pretty good promotional interest rate on their checking account among other things. It sounds like a good deal, go get it if you want. But be aware that they will screw you as soon as they don't need you anymore. That is what happened to me.
I was a happy Flagstar credit card customer for 1-2 years, then they sold their portfolio to FNBO. The communication was minimal, partial, and only by mail. FNBO is converting my credit card to a much worse card (I had Elan Max Cash Preferred and they are switching it to a generic card, plus potentially changing my credit limit--"they'll let me know").
I mostly blame FNBO, and there are more details in my one-star FNBO review.
So clearly Flagstar was not interested in protecting its customers when they negotiated the sale to FNBO. Now that would make sense if they were going out of business or exiting the retail market, because then maybe their reputation wouldn't be important to protect.
But they're not. After the NYCB merger, they are displaying their name prominently and offering good deals to lure new customers. You would think that they would value their reputation. Guess not.
I may do business with them again, but I'll be watching my back.
I go to the flagstar in New Hudson
I go to the flagstar in New Hudson. The employees are so very nice. Jenny helped me to order checks. They all put a smile on my face. Thank you.
Flagstar Investment Division Failed Miserably
As a long time customer, if able I would give this institution no stars.
I purchased an annuity from a Ft Wayne, IN branch with a three year maturity.
Due to management ineptitude in Ft Wayne and Grand Rapids,MI it has been nearly thirty days since maturity without funds having been sent.
In speaking directly to the company that Flagstar brokered with, I was told that obviously they are having difficulty executing procedural matters necessary to correctly process and ensure monies being remitted.
While having no banking or annuity sales experience within 30 minutes I successfully completed the required forms which Flagstar failed to provide and was told the monies would be in my account within two business days.
Flagstar bank is in no way making any…
Flagstar bank is in no way making any attempts to help us save our home. The refuse to process our docs, have hung up on us on several occasions, told us we wont be approved for mortgage assistance, told under review many times only to hv them ask for more docs. Been able to mk pyts for over a year bt they wont tk our payments. Covid Forebearance was a deceitful attempt to steal our homes.
Absolutely horrible mortgage company
Absolutely horrible mortgage company. I'm so disappointed that both my home loan and the loan for our rent house were sold to them shortly after closing. They have been a nightmare. This morning I got a voicemail with no information to call back a number that then says "this is an attempt to collect a debt" yada yada yada and I know neither loan has ever been late so I get a rep on the phone. She's starts off that my loan is due by next week in the amount of $198,000+ and I'm like "woe woe woe, what are you talking about? I've never missed a payment and have proof that you received my last one a month ago". She says she needs to read me all the "consequences" before she can answer any questions. So it turns out that they sent a letter that my escrow was actually overfunded a month ago and my payment was being reduced slightly. I paid the new amount listed earlier this month. Turns out that it wasn't supposed to go into effect until NEXT month, so my payment was $100ish short since that new payment amount shouldn't have been made yet and the old, higher payment should have been for one more month. All this BS over something so simple and easily explained and corrected, but they jump straight to scare tactics and bullying. What a horrible, horrible company. It's not fair that we get no say in loans being sold off to companies we would never choose to do business with otherwise.

What's the point of a account app if it doesn't even work and you don't have customer support. I'm changing banks asap
