Cian was great!!

I had an issue with my car that I reported to Händler Protect. The service has been great!! Very easy to use and accessible from the start!! I spoke to Cian on the phone, who advised me well on the details of my policy and how this would work with getting the issue resolved!! Cian was very helpful and I was highly satisfied with the customer service I received.

Cian the resolver!

Incredibly grateful to Cian who took my case into his own hands and was able to reach a helpful resolve with me. At first the process was confusing and has been quite stressful, but Cian truly came with incredible assistance and kindness. Very grateful for the help and professionalism.

My car broke down within the date of the policy with gearbox failure.
To evidence my claim the first required photo evidence of the failed parts from within the gearbox.
This meant that I had no choice but to open up the gearbox. Once the garage opened up the gearbox, to get the photos that they required as evidence of the fault, I had to commit to getting the car fixed one way or another, because it takes 6-8 hours of time to open a gear box up, strip & diagnose the issue, & they can’t just close it back up again like closing a lid- once opened it has to be fixed to be put it back together.

Having been forced to open the gearbox to get the photo evidence that Handler Protect demanded, the garage would already, at this point, be owed a significant amount of money from the cost of the total repair, just for the stripping & diagnostic work.
The garage told me that they couldn’t keep the car up on the ramp for days.. or weeks.. awaiting the response (they obviously had other jobs waiting!) so they had to do the fix, which at this point was an inevitable necessity in any case, whether or not Handler Protect agreed to the reimbursement repair!

No garage would be able/willing to keep a car on a ramp indefinitely awaiting an inevitably lengthy warranty claim process.

Handler protect then decided that they needed to send an engineer to see the broken gearbox in person, to validate my claim, and when i explained the situation they informed me that my reimbursement request was invalidated because the work had been done.

This essentially means that their entire warranty policy is set up so that, in the case of the most expensive repairs- that involve gearboxes- their clients are unable to get a reimbursement because the very nature of the evidence they require at the start of the process forces them to agree to open up the gearbox, and hence agree to the repair, before they say whether they will reimburse them for it!!

IF photo evidence of the fault was not going to be sufficient evidence they should have arranged to send an engineer right from the start. The engineer could have opened the gearbox and seen the fault then and there.

The requirement for photo evidence (that was not, in the end, considered by them to be valid evidence was pointless and futile requirement that, in my case, only to lengthened the claim process to such a degree that I was forced to get the repair fixed before the claim was agreed.

The whole process that was followed meant that the entire warranty was not worth the money paid as there was no way i could have shown the evidence they required without invalidating my claim!

Repair requests must be assessed before any strip down or repair work is carried out. Where internal components such as a gearbox are involved, we may initially request supporting evidence, however this does not authorise dismantling or completing repairs. If the cause of failure cannot be confirmed from the initial information, an independent engineer inspection is required before work proceeds so the failure can be verified in line with the repair plan terms.

In this case, the gearbox was dismantled and repaired before an inspection could take place. Once repairs are completed, we are no longer able to verify the cause of failure, which means the repair request cannot be approved under the plan. In addition, the cost submitted for the repair was flagged as significantly higher than the typical cost for a repair of this nature, which also required further review before any approval could be considered.

These requirements apply to all customers and are in place to ensure that decisions are based on verified evidence and reasonable repair costs.

Claim Settled Efficiently

From submitting a claim which was rejected, not completely understanding why and trying to establish the exact reason for this, after speaking with Cian he was extremely helpful, polite and explained, what reading the ambiguous warranty list of what is and what isn’t included didn’t, helped me make more sense of it all. He also helped with settling our claim straight away. I can’t thank him enough for his efficient service.

Amazing service

I cannot tell you how amazing the service I received from Lucy and her manager Cian. I needed to get my car repaired as soon as possible as my mum who lives a few hours away has broken her leg. Lucy was so helpful in a stressful time and escalated the claim quickly to her manager who dealt with it straight away. They were both so polite and helpful in a time when customer service doesn’t seem very high priority with so many companies at the moment. This was definitely not the case with handler protect, they went above and beyond and I cannot recommend or thank them enough.

Very unprofessional, lack of empathy and ridiculous

Cian, the claims manager has really made this claim stressful and making ridiculous demands.
All that was requested for has been done and yet he is hell bent on adding further negative impact of this situation to my sanity. Since 8th of December after contacting them, I’ve had to find a VAT-registered garage and do everything asked of me with 30days even with the garage closing for a 13 days period due to the festive period. The garage has explained the implications of a full strip-down without spare parts, and I'm struggling to understand why I'd need to start over with another garage.

Where the cause of a fault cannot be confirmed without further inspection, additional information or assessment may be necessary. This is not intended to cause distress but to ensure that any decision is based on verified facts rather than assumption.

Requirements such as using a VAT registered garage and allowing appropriate inspection are standard and apply to all customers equally. Where a full assessment has not yet been possible, we cannot progress or authorise a repair under the plan.

Cian was super efficient

Cian was super efficient in dealing with my appeal and the turnaround from submitting my claim to having it processed as successful was good especially with the Christmas break in between. I am especially thankful for my circumstances into the nature of my claim being considered and granted. First time making a claim since owning my policy for a year now and it was a great service.

I am extremely disappointed in this…

I am extremely disappointed in this company. I encountered a problem with my car on the 22/12/25 on the dashboard. Which stated ( front left malfunction consult a workshop) I reported the issue straightaway. And I was told to go and do a diagnostic. Which I paid £156. I sent all the necessary documents and even then engineer also classified the problem in writing. I uploaded all the right documents to handler protect through the email. And I was rejected straightaway. And I was told to appeal the situation by writing to them to explain why they should help me fixed this issue. This is a very dangerous problem I have as if I ever get involved in an accident the airbag won’t go off. Because it’s something to do with the left passenger seat mat. Until now, the warning sign is still showing on the dashboard. And I do not have enough money to get this issue fixed. I trusted this company and they let me down. Now , I don’t know what to do. They have left me stranded. Please do not trust this company. Please don’t.

Service Industry

Fortunately, today was a day where usually in the service industry you are met with negativity or the feeling that service means very little however, today I had the pleasure of dealing with Cian. He understood my dilemma and provided me with reassurance and a solution. I was declined any payment towards…

I was declined any payment towards repairs to car all engine as well. I have gold cover. I paid out £1100 for all the work and Handler not offered a penny back. In my eyes another rip off warranty company. Don't waste your money on this company.

The Gold plan can only cover repairs where the evidence supports a sudden mechanical or electrical failure of a listed component that occurred after the plan began. Where the information provided by the garage indicates that the issues are related to wear, deterioration, or the general condition of the engine rather than a single sudden failure, the repair would not meet the plan criteria and cannot be authorised.

They denied my warranty claim due to the age of the car for an injector but still happily took the money for the policy when I got it out.

Repairs can only be approved where the information supports a sudden mechanical or electrical failure of a listed component that has occurred after the plan began. Where the evidence indicates wear, deterioration, or a pre existing issue, it would not meet the plan definition of a sudden failure.
