Absolutely shit classes with extremely basic knowledge and no real insight into anything important

Our happy parent happy baby course was brilliant. Our course leader was exceptional. She was so knowledgeable and approachable, no question was unanswered or silly to ask. Practical sessions were the highlight for us , brilliantly hands on and great way to chat to the other couples.

We would highly recommend HPHB for your antenatal course! Jess was brilliant at delivering the sessions, making the whole learning experience hands-on, engaging and enjoyable. The videos were also available to access anytime, both during and long after the course, which was incredibly helpful.

Learning baby first aid is definitely worthwhile too! Jess’ approach was warm and calming, creating such a happy and welcoming atmosphere for all the parents-to-be. No question was ever a silly question, and she made everyone feel comfortable and supported throughout.

Thank you, Jess, for such a fantastic experience and for helping us feel more confident and prepared for our little one’s arrival!

We did the HPHB course in Sevenoaks in September and it was great! Very informative and covered lots of practical stuff about birth and caring for newborns. Jess, our instructor, really knows her stuff and was able to answer any questions that were thrown at her. It was also really valuable to hear from multiple other experts in various disciplines, and have access to the course materials even after the course ended. We feel like we came away from the course better equipped to make decisions about the birth and care for our little one when they arrive. We now have a local community of new parents going through the same things that we are, which is lovely. 100% recommend this course!

Highly recommend these classes. Not only do you learn so much but it gave a confidence around birth that I didn’t think I would ever have. We also met some wonderful people and were feeling very lucky! If it’s your first baby I would say 100% go!

The course was really informative as well as being interactive and practical. I now feel knowledgeable about what’s to come, my options and how to navigate birth and the early days of parenthood without feeling overwhelmed by what I’ve learnt. I feel empowered instead.
HPHB has been invaluable in meeting other couples expecting little ones in our area we can plan walks with or play dates with when babies arrive!

This course was so helpful in supporting me to feel more prepared leading up to having my first baby. The midwife who ran our course was so lovely and supportive, and I came away from each session feeling really informed.

Each week the online sessions were also so informative, and a great way to ask any follow up questions to the professionals on the call.

Overall, I cannot recommend this course enough, and is also a great way to meet other parents to be, which has been a fantastic bonus!

This was a lovely experience for us as first time parents. It was run really well for each session with plenty of information.
The pre-watch videos were so helpful for giving us an idea about the next session and it meant we could go to the in person session with questions in advance.
It’s really great to be able to connect with new mums in the local area who are going through similar things at the same time and hoping we make lasting connections.
I would recommend this course to any new parent or even as a refresher and the safety recommendations change and new information becomes available so often. It was money well spent!

HPHB was such a wonderful all-round experience. Materials online are very comprehensive, face-to-face classes were great to solidify the knowledge, get hands-on practice, and of course socialise with like-minded parents. I particularly appreciated the depth of the expertise and additional weekly opportunities to ask questions directly to different specialists from doctors to physio. Highly recommend!

Fantastic antenatal classes. The midwife who facilitated our in person sessions was brilliant. The sessions were informal yet engaging and covered a huge amount of content. The content importantly was up to date and sympathetic to the challenges reported about NHS care currently. Highly recommend.

Both my partner and I enjoyed the whole course from start to finish, and as first time parents found all parts so useful. The midwife Lucy who led the sessions was fantastic and very informative, took the time to answer all questions and made the sessions really engaging and fun. Everything we went through in person is backed up by the online portal and we find ourselves going through this before baby comes as a quick refresher. Overall I really recommend - plus they moved us to a venue which had aircon, which was great considering how hot this summer was!

We were recommended HPHB by friends and are so glad we followed their recommendation. The classes were really informative and led by a fantastic midwife who answered all the questions we threw at her! We met some lovely couples who we are continuing to keep in touch with now the classes are over. And the online sessions and resources on the course portal have also been incredibly helpful, especially the breastfeeding discussion (I know I'm going to go back to this video in a few weeks time once my baby is born).

Really great classes, with experienced and friendly teachers. All the other couples were lovely too!

Overall, we enjoyed the course and Bea, our host, was engaging, approachable and clearly knowledgeable. She created a relaxed atmosphere and encouraged everyone to participate.

There are, however, several areas where I think the course could be improved.

Firstly, I think the opening session should place much greater emphasis on helping the group get to know one another and start building the "village" that the course promotes. One of the biggest attractions of antenatal classes is meeting other expectant parents who are at a similar stage and building a local support network. That aspect felt like an afterthought rather than a central part of the course.

The online videos were also disappointing. The information itself was generally good, but the production quality felt very basic. Most of the videos consist of a static talking head against a plain white background, with little variation throughout. There are no cutaways to practical demonstrations, very few on-screen graphics, animations or visual aids to reinforce the learning, and the format becomes quite repetitive. For an online learning package, I expected a much more engaging experience.

The final "celebration social" was unfortunately the biggest disappointment. Throughout the course it was presented as an opportunity to celebrate finishing, have some food together and continue building relationships with the other parents. In reality, there didn't appear to be any organisation behind it. The venue wasn't expecting our group, there was no table reserved, nobody from Happy Parents Happy Baby attended, and we had to ask whether it was even possible to order food because the kitchen was already catering for a coach party. It left a rather underwhelming end to what had otherwise been an enjoyable course, and it does make me wonder whether the advertised reunion later in the year has been planned any differently.

Ultimately, I'm not convinced the course represents good value for money. At £230 per couple, the online materials are a one-off investment for the company and can be reused indefinitely. The course is advertised as five in-person classes plus a reunion, but the fifth "class" was simply meeting at a pub for a social gathering, with no organised activity, no reserved space, and no refreshments provided by Happy Parents Happy Baby. Based on our experience, that means you're effectively paying around £57.50 per taught session.

At that price point, I would have expected refreshments to be provided during the in-person sessions, and for the social events to be properly organised. Instead, much of the face-to-face teaching felt like the online content being presented again in PowerPoint form or demonstrated with a doll. Much of the underlying information is already available for free from the NHS, local maternity services and charities such as The Lullaby Trust, so I struggled to see enough additional value to justify the cost.

Overall, we enjoyed meeting other expectant parents and appreciated Bea's enthusiasm and knowledge, but there are several aspects of the course that need improving before I could recommend it at its current price.

Great course, very informative, had a huge amount of information but also was presented in a way which was not overwhelming. Would really recommend to any new parents as it’s not only incredibly helpful but also great to meet other local first time parents.

We really enjoyed the Happy Parent Happy Baby course, it was well structured, helpful and friendly. We feel a lot more prepared and knowledgeable than we went in, and have met a lovely group of people. Very good value and welll worth the cost.

I joined this course as I was extremely anxious about birth and everything relating to pregnancy, I found this course very useful in settling my nerves and being educated from birth to post partum, Miya who took the course was so informative and no question was ever silly or too much, and the group we were with were all really lovely people and it was great to be with likeminded people, I would highly recommend this course with this company if you are like me and are a very anxious person! They covered all basis from the lead up to birth all the way to when baby is here and how to care for them, the online Q&A’s are also very helpful to listen to in the house!
