Delivered what was ordered.No fuss or drama..

Previously purchased cigars on line without issue. However at beginning of August I ordered a Xikar lighter which arrived on 7th August. It didn't work properly the flame fickered and that was with the Xikar branded gas. After a few uses the flickering flame became a weak flame and eventually it stopped altogether. I have other Dupont lighters and thought I would go to the Windsor shop and asked them to replace it. That is where the problem starts. The guy in the shop was not helpful, in fact he was evasive and was reluctant from the outset. He drained the gas and refilled it. It still didn't work. I had done all that before. He asked me how far away I had come - about 20miles. He suggested he eould give it to someone to see if they could fix it? I said i would prefer a replacement since it is brand new. When i asked if they had one in stock he said they don't replace after 14 days and that is their policy? I pointed out the sale goods act entities me to either a replacement or a refund if the goods are not of merchantable quality- in this case fit for purpose and no so called policy can overide the law. He shrugged his shoulders and said that is the policy. He said im not entitled to a refund after 14days. I said okay I am not happy so if I leave it at the shop would they send me a replacement in the post? He was again evasive as if it was my responsibility to wait for them to fix it and come back and pick it up. He said it will be up to his supplier ie Xikar to decide what to do. I pointed out the obvious that my contract is with Havana House and not Xikar. I alI said if I leave it here at the shop could he give me a receipt? Again he was reluctant. In light of the shifty attitude, I said I'm not leaving it without a Havana House receipt. He offered to hand write on my printed receipt but I pointed out that anyone can hand write on my online receipt and how about he provide a compliment slip or something headed with Havana House Windsor on it and he acted as if they dont do that either or couldn't give a proper receipt? The whole experience was one of those that the seller is trying to evade responsibility. The guy serving never looked like he was the slightest bit interested, no apology just an intake of breath that people do when they think you are a nuisance. So having gone to get a replacement I left saying I now want a refund and todays experience means I will not purchase from Havana house in the future.
1. this guy is quoting a policy that breaches the law and he is trying to mislead customers. 2. His attitude and body language from the outset was evasive and he tried to justify the no refund policy stemmed from customers misusing products?? Oh dear his first thought is that customers are usualy the problem, and he thought it a good idea to say that? 3. Once I heard and saw all this, my attitude changed from wanting a replacement to now wanting a refund.

This guy doesn't have a clue how to serve the public. There is nothing worse than going into a shop and being told nonsense and taken for fool.

I would not set foot in Havana House Windsor again. One further thing is that when I arrived there the door was locked. I pressed the bell and the guy appeared from what I think is a newsagents next door. It's therefore obviously temporarily manned. It is also a very poor display inside. Having visited many cigar shops - this one looks very neglected and on the way out. Hardly surprising with this management. In comparison go to CGars shops in London or the one in Liverpool and they are well stocked and beautifully presented. And importantly the staff actually greet you like a valued customer.

I was at the Birmingham store on Thursday and bought a few things. I was well impressed from the overall service. Nice friendly lady helped me to choose a couple of pipes and tobacco also helped me to find some close to the cigarettes that i was looking for. Would recommend and i am impressed with prices and quality. Husband very happy with his pipe. :)
