I always book with Hays Alnwick. I like the way you can go in and everything is handled for you, the booking, insurance, car parking and money, in a professional manner, yet relaxed and friendly.

Well then, this is the second time we have been ripped off by this company. Don't get me wrong, we've had a few nice holidays to Spain and cruises, so thought I would surprise my wife with 2 weeks in Corfu at the Mareblue Beach Resort. This was booked by the Berwick branch, (NOT the Alnwick branch), and all seemed to go well until we landed at Corfu Airport. We were whisked away by our transfer and then it dawned on us that we weren't staying at Corfu town after all, but somewhere out in the wilds, miles away from anywhere. We were shocked, this is not what we wanted. When we booked around April 2024 for October 2025, we were under impression that the resort was actually in the town of Corfu with a few minutes ride on our mobility scooters to a long prom with lots to see and do, and a few minutes ride into the town of Corfu, again with lots to see and do, not stuck out miles from anywhere. WHY DONT THESE HAYES GIRLS DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND IMFORM US THAT THE RESORT IS NOWHERE NEAR THE TOWN. Maybe it's because the customers might have second thoughts and decide to go elsewhere or cancel the booking, just as we should have done if we had discovered the truth. The resort is nice enough in itself, clean rooms, helpful staff, all inclusive food and drinks, and nice scenery, but that's it. £3,000 is an awful lot to pay for just having to sit in the sun, doing nothing and eating and drinking. At the bottom exit gate there is a road near the beach, (No prom), but only about half a mile in each direction to a dead end, and only a few cafes and one or two shops. Absolutely nothing to do. By the 2nd day we had explored everywhere and was very disappointed. A couple of roads going away from the area, but these were very non descript lined with tall trees and shrubs, we went so far and then faced with steep hills, no good for our mobility scooters. We tried a little excursion to Acharavi, but this was absolutely awful with rutted lumpy pavements, awful steep angled drop down kerbs, I lost count of the number of times I had to get off my mobility scooter and help her up and down them. We found a smoothish road to the prom, I thought that's a bit better but that was it. The prom was very poor with stones everywhere, we went so far but it was getting worse and worse, so turned back and went back to the bus pick up point, where we had a wait of 2 HOURS, YES 2 HOURS. This place is absolutely no good for disabled people with mobility scooters. AGAIN, WHY OH WHY DONT THESE HAYES GIRLS DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND CHECK TO SEE WEATHER THESE EXCURSION PLACES ARE SUITABLE FOR ELDERLY DISABLED PENSIONERS. The next day my wife was in floods of tears regarding these aforementioned issues. And another emission when booking, we were told that this awful hotel tax on arriving would be €7 per day. Actually on arriving we were faced with it at €10 per day, instead of €98 it had gone up to €140 for the 14 nights. Absolutely shocking, and again no one informing us of the price rise. We would have cancelled, so will never go back to Corfu after these many issues, also very disillusioned with the Hayes agents. We are looking for 50% compensation or £1,500 discount on our next holiday if we keep faith with Hayes.

P. S. As holiday was booked in April 2024 (18 months ago) I assumed that we had done it in Alnwick when we saw the advert in the window. But had just been informed that it was done in the Berwick branch later that month. (Our local branch).
So, my apologies saying it was the Alnwick branch that booked it.

Ellie was brilliant, we had a bit of a complicated situation as had been booked to go to Jersey but that booking made independently by my step son had to be cancelled for personal reasons.xso we were left with flights but no holiday. Ellie looked at all the possibilities for us and which would be the most beneficial to use. We left all booked up to go to Jersey as planned

The agent I dealt with was extremely helpful and spent a great deal of time with me. Answered all my queries and I felt very confident that my tour to Italy in October will be good. Everyone at Hays Travel in Alnwick are extremely friendly and professional. This is the first time I have used Hays. No complaints - so far!!
