Hillier Garden Centres Reviews 

My friend and I went for afternoon tea at Hillier Aldermaston . We had reserved a table. Once we had paid and shown to our table ,which was clean and well presented.our afternoon tea arrived very quickly, We had to remind the staff for our drinks. Food was very nice, if we are being ultra picky. Some butter for the scones would have been nice. Possibly drop the price by a couple of pound and it would be exceptional. even a small discount when two are sharing the same tea. Savoury/sweet, I will definitely go back and try the sweet option. The staff do not harass or hover over you. ( which I prefer).
Altogether a very nice experience.

Breakfast at the Hillier's near Botley today . Coffee served with order but it took 50 minutes for the food to arrive with no advanced warning of a delay.. Food was patchy. Some items hot others lukewarm and the eggs were congealed. Would not recommend.

Huge gut wrenching stench of sewage around the building area, strongest outside the cafe, and entrance area. We had the same issue there a few years ago. We avoided the cafe for obvious reasons.

What an absolute disgrace, to the company and managers.

Plants are expensive, compared to the nearby, wonderful Longacres garden centre.

Welsh rarebit for two, a coffee and a Pepsi max. Coffee arrived quickly and was cold before the food, l would have liked a second cup but the thought of queueing behind someone for another 10 minutes, whilst they decided how they wanted their fried egg! I didn’t bother. The Welsh rarebit was burnt and inedible on all the edges, leading to considerable waste. So disappointing,bring back Rosebourne standards.

Bought a Rattan garden furniture set from Banbury. Very helpful, friendly and professional staff. Delivery was on time and it was taken to back garden with most packaging removed and taken away. Helpful delivery staff too. Table had to be built by my husband which took a bit of time. But looks amazing. Very happy with the whole buying process.

I’ve been coming to this garden centre (Aldermaston) since before the Hilliers takeover, and every single time they have something on offer - buy one get one free, Christmas stock reduced, etc. - they charge full price for at least some of the items. Today it was strawberry plants - buy a pack of 6, get a pack free, £7.99 a pack. I was charged £15.98. This happens over and over.

If you see anything on offer there, only ever take them up on the offer if it has a barcode on it showing the new price. And even then, watch carefully because the staff will often scan the old barcode at the full price.

Couple that with the whole ‘get stuff cheaper if you sign up for our loyalty card’ thing, and I think it’s fair to say I’m giving up on this place. The staff are lovely, but I’m tired of being ripped off every time I visit.

And no. I do not want a loyalty card, so please stop asking!

The willow cafe outside seating area was dirty as the ground was covered in litter and needed sweeping. When our food and drinks order was brought to the table the tray was just put down by the waitress and she walked off without taking anything off the tray nor saying anything.

Our overall visit was spoiled by the unpleasant sales assistants within Bon March whispering about us, rather than talking to us. There was very little room to manoeuvre a wheelchair, and after I'd said 'excuse me', another customer almost stepped into the path of the wheelchair I was pushing. Fortunately I was able to stop in time.
Restaurant and garden centre staff were lovely as always.

We visited Hilliers at Aldermaston today, had lunch which was nice. Bought a bistro set and the assistant, Debbie, was most helpful in trying to locate a set in the warehouse. Eventually, she managed to find one and removed the boxes and brought it through the till for us and took it to our car. A very nice lady who was conscientious and did her job well.

Just had 2 soft drinks for 7 pounds at the Hillier's in Botley......No-one in the Cafe either and it managed to take 15 mins! 7 pounds! I think the drinks at Kew Gardens are the same price! Shame on them for charging pensioners this ridiculous price...If the drinks were shown to be this price I wouldn't have bothered.... Absolutely disgusting

Shocking no allergen label one takes one life in one’s hands.
Rosebourne was great felt safe the restaurant was good and team friendly and very helpful.

We visited Hillier have taken over the former Roseborne Garden Centre in Hampton-in-Arden. A vert good range of plants etc, and after selecting plants for our garden we decided to have an early lunch in the restaurant, which was not very busy, with a few dinners outside and a couple of occupied tables inside. The menu had little to offer vegans and was very limited to vegetarians with a choice of two main meals or a light meal consisting of a nondescript flan lacking any flavour whatsoever. My wife had a cottage pie, which she enjoyed. We also two cups of coffee, which was prepared at the time of ordering. It took 45 minutes for one main meal and one flan with rocket to arrive. Taking into account the place was virtually when we arrived. We could see the kitchen from our seat and they were not serving meals to other tables during our wait. Oh, the chips are advertised as vegetarian, which is not the case as they are cooked in the same oil as fish. Thirty pounds plus. We should have gone to a local pub. Will do next time.

Poor service in the restaurant. Waited to be seated even though there were people walking around doing nothing. Tables were dirty and had not been cleared. No smiles or rapport from the staff. Ordered through the app. People who came in after us received their drinks before we did. Went to ask where ours was and the ticket was found on the floor. The Cups with the milk jugs was out down heavily on the table spilling the milk. I had the welsh rarebit - bread crust was rock hard and the cheese overcooked. Also the portions were a lot small than when it was Rosebourne - ie a lot more expensive. Somewhere else added to my list of not to go back to. Bring back Rosebourne and their happy to serve and work staff.

Pevensey cafe, food was atrocious. £40 for a bottle of juice, 2 hot drinks a roast dinner and 2 egg sandwiches. Waitor apparently couldn’t find the table, only when we asked did it arrive stone cold.
Bread was stale and like chewing a brick. Roast was horrible and cold. Really disappointed and out of pocket for a bad meal

I would give this 6 stars if I could . Exemplary customer service today

Tragic deterioration of standards in Aldermaston restaurant since Rosebourne:
Entrance and exit moved 70yds apart so you get wet irrespective of where you park;
Entrance to the cafe has been moved so it can only be accessed from the outside plant centre so you now queue in the cold. I feel for the staff who have to stand in the entrance to greet people and conduct them to a table. Should you be seated anywhere in the vicinity of the entrance, you are subjected to freezing blasts every time the door opens. The tables were all dirty; no-one seemed to see you when waiting at the till to order; my cheese jacket was ok but lukewarm and the coleslaw had an overpowering onion taste and I had to leave it. BRING BACK ROSEBOURNE - there was service with a smile from regular staff, good food and cleanliness back then.

Not even worth one star. Wanted to send a gift card but website constantly returned to beginning after two hours i gave up. Help phone only asked fpr a message r. Email only a automated reply. Rubbish!

I purchased a Chichester Sofa set and was told by the saleslady and the person who introduced himself as the store buyer that I had a three year warranty.
The paper work and delivery notes showed no warranty, however, there is a very small label on the product 9x3cm that says you have to go to a different company to see their warranty, this is only seen once the item is unpacked.
If I buy a product from a retailer it is them that I will hold to account for any problems not another.
The warranty on the other website was not as I had been informed and the product is a split warranty.
I have also found the similar product cheaper at other garden centres, may be under a different name, so look around.
The quality of the goods is as described so I am giving 2 stars.
I like most people am getting sick and tired of companies that are finding sly ways to escape their commitments.
BE WARNED HILLIER YOU HAVE BEEN FOUND OUT AND LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER DUE TO YOUR UNDERHANDEDNESS.

Pevensey, East Sussex employ rude and obnoxious staff. Felt unwelcome and uncomfortable would never ever go back to this place ever. Following us around as if we were shoplifters appalling behaviour. Made me feel so fed up.

I signed up for their Gardening Club but when I tried to login using exactly the same email address and password I was not recognised.

I can’t even get a Gardening Club membership number without logging in - which I can’t do (see above).

The range of products online is a fraction of what is in their garden centres.

No wonder their rating is so poor.
