I have used Howlett of Lavenham twice for my MOT and been disappointed both times.

Last year, they failed my car due to headlight damage caused by a deer impact only to then inform me they don't carry out body repairs. This felt like information they could have shared before taking my money, not after failing the test.

This year I gave them another chance. They failed the car again on two major defects: headlamp aim and a number plate lamp. When I asked about getting these fixed, I was told they "didn't want to" repair the car because I had used another garage the previous year, the very garage I had no choice but to use because they turned me away.

So the situation is: they are happy to charge for an MOT, fail the car, refuse to fix it, and offer no path forward other than collecting the car and leaving. I was left with a failed MOT, two fixable faults, and no service whatsoever.

The faults themselves are minor and straightforward. The refusal to address them and the reasoning given was frustrating and, frankly, hard to understand as a customer. I won't be returning.

I have just purchased a Peugeot 3008 from from Howletts this is the second car I have bought from them, a very good experience and handover but I knew it would be as I have used them for services for years, all the staff are very polite and helpful, I would definitely recommend them.

Very friendly and efficient garage. We have been with them for many years and trust them implicitly. Recently they helped us navigate a write-off following an accident (the other driver's fault!) and find us an acceptable replacement.

I haven’t bought a car from a garage for over 25 years. I was a anxious,owing to previous poor experiences, but Howletts have restored my faith. There was absolutely no pressure for a sale and the team were helpful and honest. The experience was trouble free and I’ve been very impressed with my purchase. Always polite and friendly service or advice. Recently purchased a new vehicle and the process was efficient with regular updates as to progress. We are long standing customers and it is good to know they are reliable and nearby.

We sourced the car online shortly before Howletts shut for the day. Simon kindly waited for us to arrive so that we could view and test drive the car that evening. The car was presented in superb condition, was exactly what my wife required.
