The looks of this knife is the same as the pictures and i was very impressed at the start but upon further inspections and cutting tests of this knife it turns out that the knife is infact not straight nor is the edge you can see a clear steer of the blade edge so the edge is not straight which makes it unable to cut well which resulted in this knife being a useless only good for decoration object.

The knife looks great, and holds well in your hand - but that's where the good ends. Firstly, compared to the other chef knives I own, using the same care routine and polishing, this knife easily its luster (it looks dull most of the time). Also, the metal polish I use also easily gets trapped in the engraving on the blade, and it doesn't really come off from washing, but rather, dislodges itself during cutting and food prep. I had intended this knife to be the workhorse in the kitchen, being of higher steel grade compared to my other ZA-18 knives, but Blue Paper 2 steel is too delicate for everyday use in a home kitchen, at least in my opinion. Firstly, it stained permanently within seconds after my first use cutting a red onion - which left brown spots that took awhile for me to figure out it might be patina, and which turned into black stains after I cleaned and polished those spots. Then, given its higher HRC rating, I thought it might be a good idea to use it for cutting harder food - which immediately chipped the blade irreparably right in the middle along with leaving a few dents around the chipped portion. Admittedly, I may not be an experienced user of Japanese chef knives bought in the shop!

The purchase has not arrived yet, 5 weeks! I cannot track it ans ask the customer service but they did not respond. Don't buy anything here.

Purchased a knife from the sister company japanesdirect.com and the company is total scam. Blade was bent and it was a total runaround to try and get it returned. I gave up and took my loss I would not buy a butter knife from this company. Take a look at their U.S. company headquarters on google earth. A run down shack in Seattle that needs a roof in a residential neighborhood.

Since I live in Europe, it took time to arrive , then customs came into the picture. I ordered the knife around a month ago, I haven’t received it due to customs and the duties I have to pay. I highly recommend the company creates an agreement and include vat in the purchasing price. Paid $250 for knife , paid €180 on duties. Totaling; 430 on the knife.!

On several occasions (as is the case with small batch, handmade products) portions of my order have been out of stock. This seller ships quick and the knives sold seem to be authentic. I bought from them a few times and I feel OK with them. However, when you are asked to write review for the product, take into consideration, just don’t waste much of your time, they never publish the negative reviews so people can only see the positive reviews on their products.

The finish on these knives was very impressive. The Damascus was forged well onto the high-carbon core and the edge was mirror polished and hair-popping sharp.

Mr. Iwahara is very responsive and gets the product shipped out immediately. I received my products within 2 days from Japan to the US. The knives arrived in perfect condition and the wooden Saya (sheath) were a perfect fit.

I just purchased my 3ed knife in 18 months and each time I ordered the knife has been shipped with in 8 -10 hours of purchase with a confirmed tracking number. I purchased a Inazuma Nakiri knife, and I'm very happy with it. The costumer service is very good and the cheap delivery service took 2-3 days from Japan to Denmark, where is was upheld in costums.

Very fast delivery, very reliable and they answered all my questions through email all the time. I ordered knife Hattori HD on Friday and it was delivered on Tuesday following week from Japan to small village in middle of Europe (That's even faster than national delivery in my country!)
