I've been lending through Kiva for over 10 years now.
I value the ability to choose who I lend to and have chosen individuals, groups and larger loans for organisations with countrywide initiatives to support things from housing to solar energy.
I hope that if I had a dream, big or small - from a new cool box to a new coffee shop, someone would believe in me and help me achieve it.
I also value being part of a worldwide community of both borrowers and lenders

Exceptional charity with vetted borrowers you can select to match your own values and interests (e.g. healthcare, farming, entrepreneurship, etc.). It is also very gratifying to get updates on how your borrower is doing, 100% of my loans over many years have been repaid.

I have been lending with Kiva for 20 years, it's a great way to help others, one $25 loan at a time. The borrower repays, you lend to someone else, and repeat. Maybe they grow their business and start to employ and train others. You make a difference not just in single lives, but a whole community, and over time that $25 becomes $5000 in loans. It's an excellent way to honour a lost loved one by doing this in their memory.

Kiva offers a unique opportunity to help people directly and in ways that are of real practical use. From farmers to small businesses, you can have a global impact. Seeing real individuals thrive and succeed is incredibly rewarding .

I have been donating to Kiva for over 20 years, because their purpose is so clear and noble. They help people in desperately impoverished areas of the world to help themselves work their way out of poverty. Kiva makes loans so that hard working people can grow small businesses, improve their farms, and contribute to their communities. Not handouts, loans to borrowers that banks won't help. In my experience, the loans are almost always repaid. Kiva is an ideal organization in my view.

Helping individuals and hearing their stories.

It’s a fantastic organisation and system. The ability to make micro loans so easily and the wealth of information that is available on past loans is amazing. The fact that you can join teams (eg I’m in Australia and we have a big team here) whereby you can see others lending activity and you can ask questions and share information.

I love choosing the loans - to know something about the person and family.
Seeing how quickly they are paying them off and pray they are doing well and their life has improved and the loan is giving them hope.
No matter how I am struggling with my money for the week I know they are worse off. Helping them helps me.

I enjoy and respect that Kiva has given me an avenue to assist people who have a goal and a plan to achieve that goal. Kiva does not just hand out money to applicants; instead, Kiva provides loans with the understanding that borrowers will repay the loan.

It's an incredibly easy way to support people around the world who want to better their lives and contribute to their local economy.

Kiva is an amazing non-profit. By making an initial investment of $25, one is able to choose a deserving borrower from a list covering many different countries. When that loan is paid back, one can offer the same amount to a new borrower and keep the giving going in a kind of chain. By partnering with NGO's in many countries, Kiva identifies worthy projects and individuals in need of financial help to realize their dreams. Being able to help make those projects happen is truly satisfying!

Been lending every month for years. Good website, tells you who you are lending to, easy to up the payments, wide variety of lending opportunities. Makes me very happy.

Banks suck, poverty sucks, people are awesome.

Such an easy, simple way to help other people in places around the world. Dollars may not go that far in my home country, but even a small loan can help a person in a developing country start a business or support a family. Kiva makes it easy to connect with borrowers and find loans that reflect your goals and interests.
