Kokoro Restaurant Reviews 

I love Kokoro, I order it weekly as I work from home and I have the spicy chicken curry delivered to me in Forge Wood on Cornwell Avenue. The dish is consistent, and taste so good. I can’t recommend this place enough! Please visit or order online - you’ll be happy you did!

Ordered from deliveroo, chicken was raw and undercooked

I was told this was an amazing restaurant with huge portions. Ok. Let's see I thought .
Very nice staff at Caterham.
waiter, attentive, helpful.
Disliked the ambience, very noisy and nothing much to look at. I was cold and it's darkish in here.
Very much the Wagamama vibe but we had banquettes not benches.
We were in a corner at the back.
I was a bit alarmed that a small child was having its knickers changed in the bar area. Staff need to be vigilant. That's totally not Health and Safety.

We ordered two starters of seaweed and gyoza. Both were fine but did not arrive together as expected.
We both had chicken teriyaki bento boxes.
Now, there was a lot of chicken, but top chicken teriyaki is meant to have it's skin on and be sliced while hot.
This was mainly chopped tiny pieces, some a bit hard. Rather salt and over flavoured. Not very hot.
Rice was dry, not very hot.
Soya beans were fine.
Very tiny portion of minute broccoli in one compartment. I needed more vegetables.
No pickled ginger was available on the table. I guess though we did not have sushi.
I had a drink of " fresh lemonade" it was a very sweet juice drink . Passion fruit flavour not present.
My partner had Japanese beer
Size of meals : average
Service: pleasant but a bit patchy re starters
Quality: average to not great ( the rice?) the weird teriyaki? The sweet cloying drink?
Size: Average to small sized portions.
Only 5 small gyoza (hard to share 5!) , tiny seaweed salad
Average bento box. Too many soy beans.
I'd rate this restaurant close to Wagamama but not really such an interesting menu (not that Wagamama is varied), few seafood dishes, tempura prawns on offer, seafood Poke bowls but not many prawn or crab dishes.

. It needs to make more effort on the food and have a nicer ambience. It's austere and chilly.
I am comparing this to:
1. My own Japanese cooking( I am pretty good)
2. Wagamama
3. Mr Taro in London ( fab food)
4. Yo Sushi

All the restaurants mentioned Mr Taro , Wagamama and Yo Sushi serve piping hot food freshly prepped. That is the essence of Japanese cuisine.
Kokoro does not serve piping hot freshly prepped food.
The food tasted pre cooked and often dry to be honest.
Cost: average. £45 for two based on what we had.
They added the service charge on the bill. I hate that.
I probably won't return or recommend.

Love their sushi, great price, could include more soy sauce, the one in Guildford in the food court now has a ordering mechine which your required to order on even though it’s a relatively small shop. Overall their food never disappoints!

We had the absolute amazing food from Wood Green Branch . They super helpful with our order, for a super huge order . They delivered to Go ape Alexandre Palace for my daughters leaving for New Zealand party . Please try their fabulous selection of food . Thank you for the extras .

We regularly get a Kokoro from either Crawley or Horsham, it's one of our favourite meals as a family. If you want quick Japanese style takeaway that's kid friendly I recommend it.

i get a large bowl of chicken and rice from these guys in Nottingham occasionally and I can never finish it 'cos the portion is so massive. Always lovely strong flavour, and super friendly staff. Nottingham branch is solid. Never had an issue, always enjoyed it. Thanks, Kokoro!

Kokoro Restaurant in Enfield is great — the food is delicious, and the staff, especially April and Asif, are really friendly and welcoming,and most of all Shan manager is the best.

Worst takeaway out there.
Food is inedible and tastes horrible.
Avoid this place unless you want to get food poisoning.
I would not recommend if anything avoid at all costs!

Dreadful experience order never arrived and no contact number for the restaurant

On Tuesday the 22nd of July my boyfriend had a meal in Kokoro, Chichester branch.
He got severe food poisoning and as a result he had to call sick. He is still struggling and suffering.
I would like to share our bad experience with other people to help them to avoid health issues as well as to bring it up to Kokoro management team.
I believe this problem is related to poor food hygiene, lack of staff training, irresponsible and bad attitude of workers.

I visited Kokoro Chichester on Tuesday and purchased a Katsu Curry. By the following morning, I became extremely unwell with what turned out to be a severe case of food poisoning. This left me bedridden for the day, forced me to call in sick to work, and caused me to lose income as a result.

I’ve always enjoyed dining out and rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was deeply disappointing and concerning. I strongly urge Kokoro to review their food safety and hygiene practices, particularly with items like Katsu Curry that are prone to contamination if not stored or prepared correctly.

Food should never leave customers feeling this unwell. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as no one should have to go through what I did after a simple takeaway meal.

Food was definitely not fresh from the Croydon branch. The rice tastes days old and it was definitely regeated, the chicken was hard and stringy as if it had been refried. I ordered when they opened so the food should have been fresh. When I called they said I could not come down to replace the food for a fresh batch.

I got my order of deliveroo and my order came very quickly, but the food I got was unfortunately not the food I ordered, it was a sweet chilli chicken rice bowl but instead it came as plain rice and just chicken on the top with out the sauce that would come inside the rice bowl, I'm happy with the delivery but unfortunately not the foodthat kokoro provided

WOW! I ordered via Deliveroo from the Chichester (UK) branch. Well all I can say is avoid this branch at all costs. The food was disgusting and I threw most of it in the bin!
For me the Gyozo were just genuinely comical. You could bang nails in a piece of wood with them. Clearly they were not made to order and nowhere near fresh......I would imagine based on the appearance they had been fried three or four times. Then we come to the salmon used in the sushi. Well it was slimy and two were so discoloured that they were taken out of the mix I tried two pieces and the hit of metal I got off one made me spit it straight back out and take the whole lot to the trash. Needless to say I will never use Kokoro EVER again.....in fact it's put me off sushi pretty much altogether.....!

Miso soup too salty to drink, threw it away. Salmon was just bits of skin. Everything far too sweet. Pretty awful.

Ate in the Worthing Branch, food was greasy, not very tasty, watched the noodles microwaved. Absolutely not worth the money. Have used the Brighton ones previously and much better quality so not sure why this one is so bad!

We had sweet and sour with egg fried rice, very bland tasting with claggy rice and chewy tasteless chicken. I was looking around for salt which as everyone knows you never normally need with Asian food. Won't be returning

The tables were a mess and staff are not cleaning them or the floor which is really dirty. The food is decent but two things really rubbed me up the wrong way.

1. I ordered a large chicken katsu curry for my child and myself to share. I like it with the katsu sauce but he won't touch it with if it has the sauce. So I asked if the katsu sauce can be put in a small separate pot they have. I was told it's a 50p charge for the small tiny paper cup. I've already paid for the sauce but have to pay 50p extra to put it in a cup which will cost them less than a penny?

2. We had hot food to take away. They have single use carrier bags for hot food take away. These are exempt from being charged for. The staff member told me it's 10p for the bag. I told her hot food takeaway is exempt from being charged for in single use plastic bags. She shrugged and told me it's 10p. I said I don't have change anyway and she said I can pay for it on my credit card.

Real bad form to rub your customers up the wrong way like this. I usually spend £40 on visits there each time paying for lunch for the family. Charging 50p for a small paper cup and 10p for a single use carrier bag which is free for hot food under government regulations is just plain ridiculous

Morden branch I think it should be rules what you pay in grams half rices and the rest meat you’re chose it’s quite expensive for rice and 2 topping fill up on eye! Some stuff put more rice less meat good food but the opinion it’s poor
