Yesterday we were struggling to get proper, comprehensive cover for Thai massage therapies. This had not been at all easy or straightforward until we spoke with Antonia at Merkel Direct. I had Patrick Hills deal with my insurance request. Very efficient, helpful and professional. Great service all round.

I'm a photographer and require public liability insurance.

However, I require it so it covers me for Air side photography at Aerodromes, Airports and Military establishments. Also Trackside and Pitlane at Motor circuits. Access all areas at Gigs and being live side at events where I am on the otherside of a barrier from the public.

My previous insurers underwriter, no longer covered me for Air side and live side photography. Also a lot of the big name insurers wouldn't either. Which means that a lot of photographers who are attending events are not actually covered. And events are not properly checking the photographers insurance and also proves that they are not asking for the wording of the policy.

And I had to contact BIBA telling them what I needed and they gave me the number for Markel & Caunce O'Hara.

Roy answered the phone and I told him what I needed. He then had a chat with the underwriter and came back to me, stating that they can insure me for all my needs.

Sadly my contents insurance won't cover my camera equipment whilst on assignments for damage or theft. My previous public liability insurer covered me up to £3500 for an extra £10.

And sadly Markel won't cover my equipment for an extra cost, which is disappointing. But after contacting over 20 insurers which also worryingly included the leading photographer insurers who won't cover for live side, at least I have Public Liability Insurance of £2M for my forthcoming assignment at the end of the month.

All of my questions were answered in a friendly manner. I am also pleased with the quote.

I would not trust my information with this company I filled out a quote form online for business insurance for them 3 months ago. And now they're sending me a form to fulfill an audit as if I actually had coverage by them telling me that I'm going to lose my insurance coverage if I don't perform an audit. This is predatory and ridiculous , it's especially ridiculous because the reason I didn't use them is because you couldn't finish the quote process on their crappily written HTML or JavaScript for mobile phone, so I picked a business company whose website worked but it appears that I gave Markel just enough of my information for them to send me a second notice on the empty threat that I'm going to lose my non-existent coverage with them if I don't do an audit. Unnecessary stress unnecessary time of my business wasted and really it's just an all-around cast net to try and catch people off guard so that they could just use their information and rope them into insurance they don't want. The people who own this company should be ashamed of themselves
